3/31/In response to the above customers complaint, I recommended that *** call someone to check the pointing and underground drain*** had problems with these areas before we worked thereThe mason came to check for a problem with the wall and consequently found what
may have been a leak around the soil pipe which we responded to immediatelyWe came back and pointed the wall under the outlet even though *** didn't notice this problemWe also repaired around the soil pipe flashing which seemed to be okay at the timeI feel that the leak was caused from the pointing which we fixed at no extra cost*** came not because of our work, but because I felt wall pointing was necessary- We did our work and the mason was there for other problems than anything we had causedWe have been in business for years and have suggested many times that a customer call a mason to checkpointingNo one has complained about paying their fee because customers know that the problem is not from usIf a customer doesnt want to pay for an estimate they may chose to find another mason who would give a free estimate which is what it was, an estimateInside the house were stains that were there before we did the roofing*** asked us to pay for that damage as wellMy insurance company refuses to pay for damage that was done before our work was done, The leaking has stopped which may be from our free repair of the masonry rather than the soil pipeMy feeling is that the payment to the mason is the responsibility of the homeowner rather than myself because he was there to check other problems rather than my work

Review: 1. New Roof installed 7/12 - $7,620

2. Leaking in kitchen & basement from roof

3. Mastroni patched area above soil pipe, but no change - just kept getting worse.

4, In December of 2012, Mastroni told me to check downspout checked and pointing checked, which I did.

5. 4/8/13 [redacted], who does masonary work performs a water test - found leak around soil pipe in back - paid him $525 and he gave me a letter substantiating the test.

6, 4/16/13, I took the letter to Mastroni, he copied it.

7. Mastroni claims to have patched the roof on 4/22/13, although I was not home and it worked.

8. Mastroni returned after a hard rain on 6/7/13, checked it with an instrument that calculated 0% humidity. At this point, I asked to reimburse me for the water test and he told me he would submit to his insurance company.

9 After no response after endless phone calls, I contacted my State Representative [redacted]. [redacted]'s office to intervene on my behalf. After many phone calls and letters from her, still no response even after that office spoke with someone who we believe was Fred Mastroni, who said he would call back and still no reply. State Rep.'s office suggested I file a complaint with Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: Refund of $525 paid to [redacted] to discover source of leak in roof. A written response to me with a copy to my State Representative as to the reason for the delay in response to our numerous requests for information.

Response:

3/31/14In response to the above customers complaint, I recommended that [redacted]. [redacted] call someone to check the pointing and underground drain. [redacted]. [redacted] had problems with these areas before we worked there. The mason came to check for a problem with the wall and consequently found what may have been a leak around the soil pipe which we responded to immediately. We came back and pointed the wall under the outlet even though [redacted] didn't notice this problem. We also repaired around the soil pipe flashing which seemed to be okay at the time. I feel that the leak was caused from the pointing which we fixed at no extra cost. [redacted] came not because of our work, but because I felt wall pointing was necessary. - We did our work and the mason was there for other problems than anything we had caused. We have been in business for 37 years and have suggested many times that a customer call a mason to checkpointing. No one has complained about paying their fee because customers know that the problem is not from us. If a customer doesnt want to pay for an estimate they may chose to find another mason who would give a free estimate which is what it was, an estimate. Inside the house were stains that were there before we did the roofing. [redacted]. [redacted] asked us to pay for that damage as well. My insurance company refuses to pay for damage that was done before our work was done, The leaking has stopped which may be from our free repair of the masonry rather than the soil pipe. My feeling is that the payment to the mason is the responsibility of the homeowner rather than myself because he was there to check other problems rather than my work.
