Fred's Transmission & Clutch

We went to Fred's transmission when our transmission was giving us troubleHe said diagnostics had to be run (said $initially; then changed to $150), gave us the results that it was an issue (which we knew); said he needs to take it apart and rebuild it (said it would be around $2000) We gave our okay - he took the transmission apart and said it will cost us $to put it together OR we could purchase one ($2100) and he would charge us $to put it in ==> $3090!! And said that the ABS were not working (which was not an issue at all prior to us driving there) Neither options were agreeable as our car was old and we did not want to spend more than $on itAlso, we lost trust in Fred's as his original estimate was not anywhere close to the real oneAlso he was mentioning issues that were not present when we came to the shopWhat more issues would 'pop up'? We decided to sell it in as is conditionHe charged us $to give us our car back - We drove our car to the place and had to tow it in pieces! A TOTAL SCAMHow can a day work of pulling out transmission be $650?? His other offer was - we could leave the car and walk awayReally???? Please do your research before you think of going to Fred's
