Frederick Chevrolet, Inc Reviews (4)

I understand that it is out of Rentschler Chevrolet's and [redacted]’s control how the manufacturer sells it parts to our parts department. Unfortunately in this instance [redacted] sold the needed parts in a kit instead of separately. Because of this scenario the dealership would be willing to reimburse him for the items that were not used in this repair.
There are several components in this kit. Since I cannot separate the costs of each item I would be willing to reimburse [redacted] 50% of the parts on this repair. That total would be approximately $144.00.
If this is agreeable to [redacted] please contact me at you earliest convenience and I will proceed with the reimbursement

[redacted] dropped his [redacted] 4/11/14. Stating that the engine bogs down and back fires and the check engine light is on.The technician diagnosed the truck and found several failure codes. Also, found speedometer not working and the Service Air Bag light on.The technician determined that...

the failure was the fuel pressure was only at 35 psi. causing the engine to bog down. He checked the fuel filter and found the inlet fitting seized. He replaced the fuel filter and line (fuel line kit) to eliminate the seized fitting. Still had low pressure. Recommended replacing fuel pump. Our Service consultant spoke to [redacted] on the 14th of April stating that we replaced the fuel filter and line (fuel line kit) but the condition was still there and recommended to replace the fuel pump. [redacted] declined. [redacted] picked his truck up on the 15th of April. He called and spoke to the Service Director, [redacted] on the 17th of April.[redacted] Stated that he would look into situation and call [redacted] back on the 21th of April. [redacted] called and spoke to [redacted] on April 25" stating that he looked into the situation and [redacted] said to him that obviously you're not going to do anything and ended the phone call.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
First of all it does not answer the question of what is going to be done? The letter they have replied with leaves out some very important information. First I was not notified of the cost of fuel filter and inlet line before the work was done. [redacted] was suppose to call me back on Saturday April 12th, she never did . as a matter of fact NO one called me through Monday April 14th at around 4 pm when I  I wound up calling the dealership Because I needed my truck. Truck is ten years old and the speedometer has nothing to do with an engine bog down. That particular Speedometer problem is one of Chevrolet's many Documented Board failures and has been like that for many years. Again its the nature of the Truck not to have working electronics..it has nothing to do with a Spark plug wire Not connected, which According to my mechanic was the problem. The dealership clearly missed diagnosed this problem and did not tell me how much a fuel filter install was going to be. Again maybe they will buy back the extra fuel lines they gave me that do not go to my truck..I Cant use them anyway!!!! or return the  labor charge for misdiagnosis. Then I would be happy.
Regards,

Review: My Truck Would not run on this trip to [redacted]. It started to sputter on route [redacted]. After attending an event I drove to Rentschler Chevrolet. I dropped the truck off @ around 1 am on Friday April 11th,2014. I had to rent a car to get home. I live about 3 hours away, in NY. The next Day I called Rentschler Chevrolet and spoke with [redacted]. She Got my Telephone Number and said they would take a look at My Truck. I told her to call me with the Findings and leave a message as I was at work and would not be able to answer the phone that morning. No one ever called back that day. No one called on Monday April 14th also. So I called late on that Monday April 14th and spoke with "[redacted]". He said I had a clogged fuel filter and inlet line. He could not Guarantee it would make it back to NY as it needed a Fuel pump also. I asked How Much Did I owe him for the fuel filter and he said it was 545.00! Wow and I never even said to do the job. But My truck was incapacitated and It was 3 hours away so what are you going to do? I said Not to do the Fuel pump as he wanted 1300 to do that. Thank God because I would have fallen for the Oldest trick in the book.I went down to Rentschler's Tuesday April 15th and Paid for the service.I drove the truck home. Reaching top speed of 35 to 40 mph it took me 7 hours to do a 3 hour trip. Praying all the way. On Wednesday April 16th, 2014 I took my truck to my mechanic [redacted] at [redacted] NY [redacted]. He Scanned the check engine light and said it was a misfire on 7 cyl. I let him have the truck. I picked it up the same day and the truck was running beautiful.[redacted] Told me That the plug wire was not connected good enough and that was the cause. No check engine light and much power. I drove it 25 miles on the highway and it runs great! I called Rentschler on Thursday April 17th and was referred to [redacted]. He said he would need time to investigate and that he would call me Monday April 21,2014. Here it is the 24th of April 2014 and no sign of this company calling me. Apparently they do not think it is worthy of any time as they quickly cashed my check on Monday the 21st. My problem is why a Chevrolet Dealer cannot find a spark plug wire that was loose and Obviously the cause of the problem? But they could find a Fuel filter and a line that was more than likely clogged a little given the age of the truck. The fuel filter and inlet line was supposedly part of a kit that cost a whopping 287.00? 177.00 to install it. They did leave the rest of the kit in the bed of my truck and I am not sure exactly what I can do with that as it is suppose to cover all GMC and chevy trucks from 1999 to 2004. Just the fuel filter and inlet line for my truck would have been just fine, Given the cost!!!!!!Desired Settlement: Rentschler did not Identify the problem correctly.Period. why should they be paid for labor? Not sure if anything can be done about the cost of the part, someone should be in prison for highway robbery but that is not going to happen. Please refund my money for the labor. It takes 3 seconds to connect the plug wire. I also would not be so quick on this but I never got the return call from the dealership in either instance and that is why I am going to push this. I will mail the complaint form pdf with the reciept and the canceled check today. TY [redacted]
