Initial Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2016/09/14) */
[redacted]Document Attached[redacted] came in on 7/14/2016. When he came in his change fuel filter light was on as well as the check engine light. [redacted] asked [redacted] our service advisor to give him the worst case scenario as to what was...

wrong. [redacted] our technician looked at it and pulled the code that was causing the check engine light to come on. The code came back as P0087. The code is for metal in the fuel system. The system which GM has put into the trucks can pick up small amounts of metal in the system. They quoted him the worst case scenario as well as that it could be just the fuel filter. We advised him that the fuel filter could fix the problem or that it may only last a few miles. After we had given him both options is when [redacted] decided to get a second opinion.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 14, 2016/09/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not recall asking [redacted] for the "worst case scenario" but she may have offered it up and I may have accepted that. If I had, it would have been prudent and ethical for the service advisor to also present the best case scenario, which would have been to replace the fuel filter. The "worst case scenario" was presented in such a manner that it was not a question about whether but when the truck would just quit working...that is a pretty scary scenario when you are towing an RV. I had checked out the code, P0087, prior to going to this dealership and it said "Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low". So what could cause this?
Fuel filter plugged or dirty
Restriction in fuel supply line
Damaged fuel pump
Damaged injector pump
Failing pressure relief valve
When told by the master mechanic that the fuel injector pump had grenaded and that metallic fragments were scattered throughout the fuel system, what was I supposed to assume and what action should I have taken?
I was not advised that further trouble shooting would be required to determine the exact cause of the code just given an estimate for replacing every component of the fuel system (I can provide the estimate if needed). The mechanic that I took the truck to for a second opinion, told me that there was no way that someone could determine that amount of repair was necessary without tearing down the whole fuel system. I have since put on approximately 5000 additional miles on the truck, both towing and not towing, without further incident.
What do I want for a resolution? I would just like this dealership to clean up their act and to cease the deceptive practices so others would not be subjected to the stress that I was subjected to.

Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 6, 2017/03/09) */
I would like to withdraw my previous complaint regarding Riverton Elko NV dealership. As of this morning 3/9/2017 the general manager of the dealership contacted my husband and they have come to an agreement in resolving this matter. I wish to...

take no further action in this matter and would like to have my complaint withdrawn as soon as possible. Thank you Revdex.com for helping me with everything.
