Freedom Boat Club

We had been members for five years at Burnt Store Marina, Florida. It was a fantastic club under the direction of Jon Giglio, that is until he sold out to the stogie Brunswick Corporation.

Monthly social gatherings were cancelled, the 20:1 member to boat ratio gone by the wayside, and the reservation system became clogged with over-bookings. After three years of continuous disappointment, we decided it was time to stop the bleeding and walk away from our sizable membership fee. Instead of allowing a mutual parting of the ways, the heavy-handed Brunswick organization misled us into cancelling at the end of the following month in which we had intended to cancel but failed to inform us that that month wasn't eligible for rentals due to it being outside our six-month rental window. Then they informed us that there was a 60-day cancellation period, and we would have to pay an additional three months before they would allow us out of our contract.

Of course, we stopped payment on the auto debit of our bank account, but they duplicitously attacked our debit card on file for "fuel purchases only". We will undoubtably end up in small claims court rather than roll over for an additional $900 loss.

The person making this complaint was never a member of Freedom Boat Club (FBC).  He completed a membership agreement form and it clearly states at the bottom of the form that it is not a valid agreement until signed by an FBC officer.  He cannot produce a valid and signed agreement because...

one does not exist.  After completing the form and providing payment information his first interaction with my wife, who is the chief administrative officer, was one of bullying and rudeness which led to me calling him and telling him that his membership application was being terminated and any and all monies he had paid would be fully refunded and he would no longer be offered membership in Freedom Boat Club. As it turns out there was no need for a refund of his money because all financial transactions were voided so they never occurred.  I would be happy to have anyone audit our books and see that no money from [redacted] ever entered our bank accounts.  So he paid absolutely no money and he received no membership.  [redacted] also posted comments on another site which I have attached.  In it you will see that he claims we have no boats at all, implying that we take people's money for membership and offer nothing in return.  In fact, [redacted] actually took a boat ride on one of our boats in Northport, New York and he obviously was convinced enough that we have boats that he attempted to become a member and pay us to use those boats. I invite anyone to come to our locations and take a ride on our real boats and speak with our real members who operate our real boats.  We have over 40 boats on Long Island and Freedom Boat CLub offers a fleet of over 1,500 boats around the country for members to use. This is a fact that can easily be verified by scheduling a visit to any of our locations.To summarize:1) We are a private membership club and do have control regarding to whom we offer membership in the club.  We chose not to offer this person membership due to his initial interactions with the club.2) We never accepted [redacted]'s money and never signed the membership agreement so he cannot produce a single shred of evidence that he was a member of Freedom Boat Club or paid any money to the club. All he can produce is an unsigned membership agreement.  [redacted] is entitled to be as upset as he would like to be that he was denied membership in the club but he is not entitled to complain as if he was a member of Freedom Boat Club and it is a complete fabrication to claim that he paid us money and is due a refund.  3) My wife never went to [redacted] and while it is a fine institution, it is not the one I would falsely claim she attended if I were to decide to make a false claim, which I  did not.  4) We do take legitimate consumer complaints seriously, but not those from someone who fabricates false claims and who was never a member of our club.  We have many members in the club who use our fleet of boats regularly and I invite anyone who is considering membership to ask to speak with actual members who will give you their views on the club while also taking you for a ride on one of our brand new 2017 boats.  Freedom Boat Club is the world's largest boat club with over 15,000 members who make their monthly dues payments regularly with no contractual obligation to continue to do so.  We deliver every day on our promise of making boating hassle-free and affordable for our members.
