Good morning,
In response to the complaint from ** ***, 1st of all I am sorry that we are in this issueAfter reviewing his records with my staffThis our
conclusion-
1) ** *** drop his car to Freestate with the check engine light on and had the complaint that the car had lost power and was acting like it was going to stall outHe also stated that he had taken his car to *** *** for a computer check- They stated that it had a code *** for a cam postion sensor
2) We check out and found that it did need the cam postion sensor.( we checked sensor to verify that part needed replacing) We also noted that Valve cover gasket was leaking and that the front hub assy(wheel) needed replacingTwo separate maintenance items
3) Car was picked up and customer drove for weeks
4) Customer called back noticing a burning smellWe check vehicle and found that V/C gasket was leakingWe replaced under warranty at no charge (of course) to customerWe replaced a defective valve cover gasket and boltCar did sit at shop while customer was out of town
5) When customer pick up, a vac line had come off causing check engine light to come on( our fault) it was repaired
6) ** *** called back and said check engine light came onWe have tried to schedule a time at his convience but he told my office asst that he wont bring it back
Freestate has tried and wants to correct any issues that may be thereBut a check light can be caused by hundreds of reasonsIt is not a given what reason the check engine light has come onThere does not seem to be any drivability issue anymore
It is unreasonable for us to give a full refund for repairsI am sorry that ** *** had transporation problems but it is necessary to have the car in the shop for repairsNot all repairs can be made in a few hours or even days
Please call and let us know what we can do to correct any problems
Thank you *** *** ###-###-####

I will continue my quest for justice.
T
he Revdex.com is only here to protect the Business NOT the consumer. I have given Freestate approximately $2000. My Auto still has the check engine code on it. They have taken my money and have not delivered or fixed my car. they should at least pay for a proper diagnostic at the *** Dealership

Under no circumstances will free state auto ever look at my car again!

I did speak to Mr. [redacted] about the type of oil put in his car, we used a [redacted] GTX HIGH MILEAGE BRAND that is approved for his vehicle.
NOTE- changes from synthetic to high mileage type will not cause damage to his engine.(see [redacted] sites for verification). Running low on oil and age/high mileage can. I did not speak to Mr. [redacted] again after complaints were on social media concerning my personal & company reputation. Our policy at this time is to let the Revdex.com and [redacted] handle the complaint, We will abide a arbitrators ruling, I am sorry that it got this far.  Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
First of all, Mr. K[redacted] in incorrect in his facts.    I had the tune up done on my vehicle previous  to taking it to this shop because of the check engine code which indicated a tune up. .   After driving the car for a while.  The check engine light came back on and the car was loosing compression and misfire.   My original  mechanic suggested  suggested I take it to the [redacted] dealer because He didn't know what the problem could be and the code indicated a tune up which he had done.  I decided to take the vehicle to FreeState Auto  and truck because they have performed work for me in the past with no  problem.  I  Went to pick the vehicle up, drove it less than 11 miles to my job.  The check engine light came on flashing.  The car lose compression and I barely made into into the compound where I work.   I requested they tow my car to their shop at which they replied their tow truck was out of order.  I had my [redacted] guys tow the car to them for repairs.  They have replaced all kinds of sensors, oil control valve-B1  the timing belt, PCM  computer,  then program the computer, had to  replaced keys, damaged my fame to my car.  I have all of my service records and the agreement was he would replaced the PCM I was to play for the part. they do the laoer at their expense  he the labor.  Freestate  did the labor in an effort to make me happy per my. K[redacted].  I haven't driven the car the number of miles that M. K[redacted] has stated.  My job is only 8  miles the short cut and 11 miles to beltway from my house.  I have another vehicle which I used that mostly and left the [redacted] in the driveway because I am scared to drive it.  Scared it will break down on me.
Once in the shop for the last time. I must have taken this care in at least 4 times to no avail.  They admitted vehicle still had code and it was again needing a tune up the coils, wires looked like they have not been replaced.  I have the receipt and from the guy who did they tune up as well as all the service records from Freestate.  One would think Freestate would check the car for tune up first before they started to throw parts into the car.  ( they original code and problem is still on the vehicle.   )  I took my car home because I was to have major surgery and II had bigger fish to fry at that time.  He asked me to let Freestate make it right.   and they haven"t.   The bottom line is I have spent thousands of dollars for them to fix my vehicle and to this date my car is still not working.
The solution is to have the [redacted] dealer to perform diagnostics and to fix the vehicle Correctly at FreeStates expense because they have taken my money, cost me a lot of time and agony, stress  and haven't delivered. .  sincerely,
[redacted]

Good morning,
I could meet at 10:00 if that works out for you. I am going to need to inspect the car to determine what needs to be done. I don't know what or if any compensation needs to be addressed. We want to take care of any issue that may be our responsiblity but again the car will need to be inspected.   Thank You [redacted]

Good morning,  My company strives to keep all our customers satisfied with our customer service and repair. [redacted] has been a valued customer in the past. Below is what time frame and work was done to her 2001 [redacted] MX-5 ( @14 years old).
9/05/14  89209 miles....

Towed to shop. Engine light flashing not drivable.  We check computer codes (2 codes in system)  Code P0012 b1-A (cam position problem)  and Code [redacted] (random miss fire)                                  We replace a Oil control value, Customer said tune was done at another shop.
9/10/14   89252 (car was driven 43 miles)  tow to shop. car is running sluggish, Check engine light came on.   Check car. Timing belt has jumped Timing.    Replace Timing belt and tensioners.
NOTE- Timing belts are part of normal factory maintenance.
9/19/14    [redacted] (car was driven 80 miles) drove to shop. Check car.  Needs ECM (computer replaced) [redacted] has a service bulletin #01-025/06 for repair  . Customer going to Dealer. No Charges.

11/21/14  [redacted] ( car was driven 350miles since repair on 9/10/14)  . Customer wants computer replaced- Part was dis continued at dealer. Located part . Replaced computer and Immobilizer .
NOTE - Charges were cut over in half .  ($871.60 deducted) try to keep customer satisfied
12/10/14   89793  (car was driven242 miles)   Check engine light on   Scan codes Same code as original [redacted] random Miss-fire. Customer said Tune up done at another shop. Advised customer to take back to shop that did the work.
I understand [redacted] situation and we have tried to be as accommodating as possible. We do stand behind our repairs. I don't feel that this is something that is related to our service. Please call for questions or concerns.
                                   We do value her business.
                    Thank you [redacted]

Good morning,   The last time we inspected the car on 12/10/14 we found that the check light was on code PO [redacted] random miss fire. We said a tune up  was needed to be done to correct problem (spark plugs, coils and ignition wires). [redacted] said it was done at another shop.  NOTE- tune -ups with coils and Ignition wires are not always replaced in some repair shops  work. I of course did not see other repair shops ticket.    I am going on [redacted] word that it was done.
                        1) We had said  from the first visit on 9/5/14 that the code (PO[redacted] random mis-fire)  was in the cars system at that time. This is before any work was done.  According to [redacted] the tune-up had already been done. We did not address  this Code  anymore because of warranty at other shop.
... Again this is code for (PO [redacted] random mis-fire) was present on 1st visit and the last visit on 12/10/14 - [redacted] said that it was taken care of at the other shop before work was done.
... All notations were made on all invoices. (concerning these problems)
... All Mileage that I noted on previous message are from invoices.

Unfortunately, It can be costly to keep a 2001 car in good shape.( @ 14  years old)  [redacted] has spent $1860.94 in repairs at Freestate.  I don't feel that this issue has anything to do with any repairs that we have made.  It was the other shop that did her tune-up.
If a arbitrator needs to get involved I will abide with their decision.

Due to Free State Auto having three attempts to fix my car and they still have not completed the job they have been paid to do over a month ago, I think I should be refunded my full amount of $946.90 for the service I paid on 2/21/14. It was extremely inconvenient for me since my car was being dropped off over and over again due to the same issues. I walked in the freezing cold many days due to this issue. I would use the refund to get my car repaired elsewhere. Since I don't trust your staff repairing my car I rather take me care elsewhere for repairs.
What is your plan as the owner of Free State Auto to resolve this issue?

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
There is only so much hard evidence that one can give to
prove a point.  It’s so simple.  So many mechanics, plus the manufacturer of the car have told me the same exact
thing.  Freestate put the wrong oil in my
car, and it caused my engine to start knocking.
Once I had a mechanic come to my house to put the correct “Full
Synthetic Oil” in my car, it doesn’t knock anymore.  I also
let my car sit for 15 days without starting it just to test and see if it will
knock again because there is less oil in the engine since it’s been sitting for
a while. Most of it should be in the oil
pan.  I started it up today and it has not knocked
once nor has oil leaked out.   This is “only”
because it’s Full Synthetic oil in the car.
What’s currently leaking though
is “coolant” which Freestate was supposed to fix.  Refunding my $74.68 is great, but where is
the refund for the lower gasket that Freestate put on, that’s still leaking
coolant.   That will have to be repaired
by another repair shop since Freestate didn’t fix it properly and when I took
it back to them, they covered over the problem by telling me it was my oil pan
leaking instead of the intake manifold gasket.
When this problem is fixed they will have to replace the
gasket, the oil, the filter, and put more coolant in the car.  These are all services Freestate charged me
for since the gasket was being replaced.
Plus they charged me labor of $439.92
Intake Manifold Kit - $177.48
5 Quarts Oil - $36.40
Coolant Dex Cool - $ 47.98
Labor $ 439.92
Totaling $701.78
During my original complaint I was not aware of the Gasket
leaking until the Mechanic came to my home to change the oil out, which is
stated in my first response to Freestate.
I have calculated from Freestate’s invoice the cost and I would like
$701.78 refunded plus the $74.68 that I was not even told I would be charged,
which comes to a total of $776.46
Once I am refunded $776.46 I will take my car elsewhere to
have the work done properly and Freestate will never hear from me again.
Regards,
[redacted]

Review: In May 2013 I took my 2006 Jeep Commander into Freestate Auto & Truck Service to have my power steering pump repaired. The pump was "repaired" and my vehicle was returned. In September 2013, the power steering pump and the belt broke again and the truck was returned to Freestate and once again they "repaired" the pump for free and charged me for changing the belt. When they called to tell me about the pump and belt, they also told me that I needed to change the heater core hose as well as the radiator hoses. The day I picked up my truck, the "check engine" light was on and my truck began making loud noises coming from the engine. I took my vehicle back the next day and was told that something had come disconnected and that the truck shouldn't make that noise again. At this point, I was told that I now had a "slow" leak in the heater core hose causing my vehicle to lose antifreeze. The next day the truck again started making the noise and the check engine light was on. I recorded the noises and took my truck back to Freestate. This time the owner [redacted] was in the truck with me and heard the noises. He said he knew what that was coming from. My vehicle was overheating. Apparently, there was no antifreeze and the noises I was hearing were the fans trying to cool the engine. Now, the heater core hoses are leaking antifreeze. Please note, that my vehicle was not leaking or overheating prior to me returning it to Freestate in September 2013.

On Friday October 25, 2013, the power steering went out in my truck again. I was driving with my children and barely made it to a parking lot. I returned my truck to Freestate on Monday, October 28, 2013. I received a telephone call at 2:48 pm and was told that my power steering pump backed out of the housing and caused damage to the power steering hose. Because of this issue, both the power steering pump and power steering hose needed to be repaired.replaced a third time. When I picked up my vehicle on Wednesday, [redacted] told my husband and I that they've taken extra precautions "this time" so the pump should not malfunction again. Our question was "Why weren't these precautions taken the first two times"?Desired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed $550.72 for the numerous inconveniences that we've encountered with Freestate Auto. I paid $317.30 on May 16, 2013 for a power steering pump. I paid $233.42 on September 18, 2013 for a power steering belt. These are the same items that keep breaking and keep requiring my vehicle be returned to Freestate.

www.freestateauto.com Good afternoon,I of course, like any business owner don't like receiving news that we have a unhappy customer. We do take this very seriously.I will respond to [redacted]' concerns.1)My records show that Freestate did work on her 2006 jeep commander on 5/16/13(inv#[redacted] total $991.80 plus taxes)at that time we replaced a light assy, power steering pump,a tire monitor and replace the spark plugs.2) [redacted] returned on 9/18/13(inv#[redacted] miles driven 2,793) with a power steering leak. We inspected the vehicle and found that the power steering hose(1) was leaking. We received the ok to replace the p/s hose, we also replaced the p/s pump under warranty.( with the hose leaking there was p/s fluid on the pump) We decided to replace the pump in case there was an issue. Labor wise we were already there. (invoice total$225.68 plus taxes). This repair was a different problem than the 1st visit.3) On 10/30/13( 3,530 miles driven) [redacted] did bring the jeep back, we had to replaced the p/s hose(only) due to being defective. Of course it was under warranty and neither party was happy about the extra visit.Note- all repairs shops are at the manufactures mercy with any defects.Luckily it dosen't happen often.(we loose time and have a customer not happy.)I did ride with [redacted] for the noise that she heard. We found that the coolant was low due to coolant leaks. This was causing her electric fans to come on.(She was verbally advised that she had a heater core and water pump leaking) Our service writer(Vic) did write up an estimate for repairs. The heater core and P/s items are not in the same engine area. This was not caused by us and it is from age/wear and tear.I can not agree with refunding the full amount on work that was done. I do value [redacted] as a Customer and will give her $200.00 store credit for future repairs.I apolize for the inconvience of the hose replacementThank You[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, I would like to amend my complaint. On Monday November 11th I called FreeState Auto to make an appointment to have the heater core hoses on my truck repaired with the $200.00 credit that was offered. I made an appointment to drop my truck off on Tuesday November 12, 2013.

At 10:59 am on November 12th, [redacted] from FreeState called my office phone to inform me that he'd called Dodge and that the heater core hoses were on "national backorder" and they didn't know when they would be getting them in and they couldn't tell me when they would be able to repair my truck. After hanging up with [redacted], I called [redacted] Jeep in [redacted], MD to ask them about the availability of the parts. I spoke to a gentleman named [redacted] and was told that they in fact had 1 of the hoses in stock and that the other hose could be ordered and recieved within a week. [redacted] informed me that there was NO national backorder.

I called FreeState auto back and informed [redacted] of my findings and he told me that he would call [redacted] Jeep and get back to me. At 11:18 am [redacted] called me back to say that he'd called [redacted] Jeep and that the order for the hoses had been processed and that they (FreeState) would have them on Monday (November 18th). At this point, I feel like I'm being given the runaround and that they don't want to do the work because they are doing it for free.

I honestly believe that I was lied to and they really don't want to do the work because I've made a complaint against their company. I don't even know what resolution I would want at this point.

Regards,

Review: In May of 2013 I went to have a leak in my engine repaired at this shop. It was a referral based on another shop that closed. At that time, I was informed by the manager that the engine was still leaking and the repairs would not last-it was still leaking. At that time, the manager, [redacted], informed me I should install another engine and this one was beyond repair. I stated that I wasn't going to pay another $2000.00 on top of the expense for repairing the current engine. He stated that it would be $500.00 more for another engine. So May 7, 2013 the engine was replaced and I paid $2284.09. In July (July 26, 2013), I brought the car back with the complaint of the engine not keeping oil- I was adding 1 to 1.5 quarts of oil per week. I also had Freestate perform an oil change on 7/26/2013. Freestate stated they couldn't find any oil leak nor evidence the engine was burning oil. I took the car but it still had the same problem and brought it back August 13- again Freestate stated they couldn't find any oil leak nor burning oil. I brought the car in again to Freestate on August 26, 2013 and Freestate then stated it was burning oil and has kept the car looking for a new/alternate rebuilt engine. I had a meeting October 14th and [redacted] state to me and my brother that if his current supplier of the replacement engine can't find a suitable engine, then he would seek another supplier. As of yet, I've been calling and leaving messages with [redacted] as to the status of my automobile and no return calls in November nor December. This is my means of transportation to work as to I live where there is no WMATA Metro access.Desired Settlement: The repair expense $2284.09 or repair the current engine or replace with another suitable engine before the end of December. And weekly communication to me as to the status of my automobile

Response:

Good Afternoon,

We did install a used engine for [redacted] ( [redacted] warranty has expired). I have spoken to [redacted] on 12/12 and by emaiil on 12/13/13. I have found a 2nd used engine that just became available. Freestate is doing this under warranty. The engine should arrive monday or tuesday next week.

The engine that was 1st installed runs good but burns oil. This is something that you can not tell intill car has been driven for awhile. We have been looking for a good used engine for several months now, but only located engines that had possible other issues. We did not want to put any engine in and for [redacted] to have problems later on.

THe [redacted] system has issues with geeting parts for all vehicles, due to people keeping their cars longer ( wearing them out more) and CASH FOR CLUNKERS took alot of possible savage cars out of the system. Due to the age of [redacted] cars it has became harder to find a good replacement.

I am hopeful that the used engine order is a good fit ( condition wise) We hope to have this issue taken care of ASAP.

Thank You

Review: I turned my car in on 2-20-14 for repairs due to the check engine light coming on the dashboard and I got a call that my car was fixed on 2-21-14. For about two weeks I smelled a burning smell so I took the car back to free state auto on 02-28-14 to check why did I smell the burning smell coming from my car. On 03-04-14 I got a call that my car was fixed however I was out of town and I wouldn’t be back in town till 03-10-14. Once I picked up my car on 03-10-14 the check engine light was still on so I took the keys back to see what was going on and they told me they didn’t hook something up which caused the check engine light to come back on. So the next day on my way to work the check engine light came back on again so I contacted free state auto on 03-11-14 to see if I could work something out to see when I could get my car repaired however I have not heard back from them yet. During this time by my car not being repaired correctly it has caused me a great deal of hard ache (walking in the snow in 18 degree weather to get around and asking for rides to get from point A to point B) to too me paying $1,600.00 in repairs and I have not been compensated for my time from free state auto for a job they have not done that I have paid for.Desired Settlement: Refund of the service I paid for.

Response:

Good morning,

In response to the complaint from [redacted], 1st of all I am sorry that we are in this issue. After reviewing his records with my staff. This our conclusion-

1) [redacted] drop his car to Freestate with the check engine light on and had the complaint that the car had lost power and was acting like it was going to stall out. He also stated that he had taken his car to [redacted] for a computer check- They stated that it had a code [redacted] for a cam postion sensor.

2) We check out and found that it did need the cam postion sensor.( we checked sensor to verify that part needed replacing) . We also noted that Valve cover gasket was leaking and that the front hub assy(wheel) needed replacing. Two separate maintenance items.

3) Car was picked up and customer drove for 2 weeks

4) Customer called back noticing a burning smell. We check vehicle and found that V/C gasket was leaking. We replaced under warranty at no charge (of course) to customer. We replaced a defective valve cover gasket and bolt. Car did sit at shop while customer was out of town.

5) When customer pick up, a vac line had come off causing check engine light to come on. ( our fault) it was repaired.

6) [redacted] called back and said check engine light came on. We have tried to schedule a time at his convience but he told my office asst that he wont bring it back.

Freestate has tried and wants to correct any issues that may be there. But a check light can be caused by hundreds of reasons. It is not a given what reason the check engine light has come on. There does not seem to be any drivability issue anymore.

It is unreasonable for us to give a full refund for repairs. I am sorry that [redacted] had transporation problems but it is necessary to have the car in the shop for repairs. Not all repairs can be made in a few hours or even days.

Please call and let us know what we can do to correct any problems.

Thank you [redacted] ###-###-####

We want to take care of any issue that may be our responsiblity but again the car will need to be inspected. Thank You [redacted]

Response:
