French's Shoes & Boots, LLC Reviews (2)

On 7/3/14 our company, American Roofing & Construction, repaired a section of roof on the front of the house. When we finished [redacted] stated that there was still a leak on the back out the house. We put our ladder back up and found that there was cracking around the soil stack that...

could possibly leak. We installed a Perma-Boot that seals off around the soil stack gasket to stop any further leaking around that area. After a few months Mr.[redacted] called back stating that a leak was still present. I went into the attic and saw no leaks or any indication of watermarks on the wood. I did notice that after the bathroom was redone the bathroom exhaust fan was being vented into the attic and not outside. I advised to [redacted] that condensation from showers may collect around it and could possibly show a leak. I took pictures of the exhaust fan and the cardboard contraption someone built in his attic that had to be fixed and done right. I showed him the photos, which I still have till this day, and gave him an estimate to install a 4” Broan bathroom vent though the roof and connect the piping to make sure it is up to code. Mr.[redacted] accepted the estimate and we returned on 9/23/14 to complete the job, as per the estimate. After some time Mr.[redacted] called back and stated that there was still a leak, I told him to call me back when it was raining and I would come back out to look at it. I Came back out to look at the job and went back into the attic, what I found was a nail had missed the rafter and poked tough the shingle, causing water to run down the nail into his attic. I caulked over the nail hole where water was getting though and advised Mr.[redacted] that the roof he has is getting up in age, about 20 years old with 25-year shingles. The Shingles were cracked and nails were starting to show, the rear section would need to be replaced soon. I gave Mr.[redacted] a price for replacing that section of roof and told him that I would give a $600 credit towards the needed repairs in good faith. We would have to remove all the work that we did and reinstall it when we put the new roof on. In the meantime I put 2 pans in the attic to collect any more drops of water that might be coming though other areas and lent Mr.[redacted] my stepladder to check on it. Mr.[redacted] has never followed up since we did the last repair on 9/30/2014. Mr.[redacted] was not overcharged in any way, he agreed that the work that I preformed needed to be done not only to comply with code but also to prevent any possible leaks due to the bathroom venting into the attic. To settle this dispute while keeping both parties happy American Roofing & Construction would like to offer Mr.[redacted] his desired settlement, $600, after we receive our stepladder back. Any issues after Mr.[redacted] receives his money back are not American Roofing & Constructions responsibility to fix or maintain. Our top priority is the customer and we strive to offer the best service and do the best work. Thank You, Richard M[redacted] Owner American Roofing & Construction Inc. 216-276-4001
