I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowGood afternoon, I have read the their response and have to disagree with a few thingsfirst off as noted in the original quote we had planned to do a lot more workThis was mentioned to [redacted] once we received the quote and with that being said we only wanted rooms done due to budgetThat should have been the first red flag to mention T&M or cost change if and when it cameAt no point during the bid walk nor throughout the project was I informed this was a time and material jobIt was noticed once we received the final bill when [redacted] told usIf a job is quoted as T&M why would you estimate the hours involved and show a total cost unless your trying to mislead a customerThe only comment made by [redacted] once we received the final bill was he agreed that he was in the wrong for not communicating with us that our bill was going to go over budget let alone almost tripleI wrote [redacted] a check for $1,as noted the day we met about the bill because I agreed there was some more work in one of the rooms having the layers of wall paper over one and I had no problem paying for that work completedAs for the remainder of the bill I did not receive "several" calls but only email responses to my attempt to settle with them nor I got daily updates on the progressI did have my sister in-law at my house while the work was in progress but she nor was I tracking their hoursShe was there because I am not comfortable leaving my house unlocked or having strangers alone in my home while I am not thereI would also like to note the attachment with my response to them about contacting the Revdex.com and attorney for advice was only after repeated emails from them trying to have me confirm I refused to pay their bill and that they were going to send me to collectionsI was starting to feel they were trying to extort me in a wayIn conclusion in my experience if a contractor works outside the agreement without approval it is at the risk of the contractor Regards, [redacted]

I have only good things to say about Fridholm Painting Work crew was dependable, respectful, and very focused on doing an excellent job I recommend Fridholm to anyone needing a professional, reliable company for painting and remodeling

In response to Mr*** request, we will not reduce the amount owed as the Client has been charged the amount agreed upon when we were hired to complete the workI have forwarded you (2) email conversation strings, including any document attachments, to substantiate the information that
was provided to the Client as well as the tone of their communications with us, and, to substantiate the timing of those communicationsI will refer to them in this response so you have factual data to which you can refer1) The estimate for the work states that the wallpaper removal and wall prep work is billable at $per labor hour per laborer (see email string with original estimate sent June 15, for Client to review)MrFridholm walked through the estimating process for this phase of the work with the Client explaining how he estimates the hours, the assumptions made (layer of wallpaper properly sized...again, see the original estimate which states the same), and why this is one of the few activities we quote on an hourly basis rather than as a set priceTo the latter point, the Client was advised that we, as the Contractor, cannot reasonably estimate what we will find behind wallpaper whether it be multiple layers or improper adhesion or cracked plaster walls and thus choose to bill for the actual labor time input to complete the task2) Mr*** claims he obtained multiple estimatesWe assume both he and his wife read all three thoroughly and asked questions accordingly prior to making their final hiring decisionMr*** in his complaint to you acknowledges that he did question our quote and was verbally informed by MrFridholm that the quote provided was an estimate only and the Client would be charged by the hourIn response to Mr*** statement I did inform him when bidding the job that I was going to price this out with a few other contractors so why would I want to pay someone T&M", we don't know and presume both he and Ms*** made a decision they thought was best for them3) Neither Mr*** nor Ms*** question the time put into the job nor the outcomeIn fact, Ms*** stated that they were both very happy with the outcome of the work (refer to email communications). There is no issue with the quality of the work and there is no disputing the number of hours put into the jobIn fact, Ms*** sister was onsite at all times with our painters so Mr& Ms*** were aware each and every day of who was there and for how longThey also were aware after the first day of the difficulty of the paper removal in the first room we worked on which was the Dining Room4) MrFridholm met with both Mr& Ms*** on Tuesday, July 1st to discuss the final invoicingThe Client's made it clear they were not pleased with the bill even though they were aware of the time put in by each worker each day to complete the workThe *** let MrFridholm know at that time that they could pay $1,that evening, which they did, and would pay the balance in weeksTwo weeks later, after attempting to contact the *** several times, Mr*** communicated with us that he did not want to pay the bill and felt we were wrong in charging him for the actual labor hours input into their home.5) In addition to the above, the tone of both Mrand Ms*** has been challenging at best to takeWe have been accused of being deceitful, misleading, and now, Mr*** is accusing us of sidestepping income reporting because we offer a discount for cash payment Please refer to both the email communications and Mr*** complaint to the Revdex.comPerhaps Mr*** is unaware of the cost to any business for the privilege of offering payment by credit card to its customersIn addition, it is difficult to understand how two presumably well-educated young adults could not comprehend both a written estimate, a verbal confirmation from MrFridholm of how they would be billed, and the amount of time input into their project daily as confirmed by their close relative who was on site to oversee our workMrFridholm communicated daily with the Client the laborers assigned to their projectWe assumed the Client was tracking the cost each day to meet and maintain their personal budgeting constraints as that was, according to their communications, a priority to themIt is not a mistake to request payment for the work performed for which they have acknowledged was completed in the time billed and completed in a quality mannerThe balance of $remains outstanding and overdueRespectfully submitted. *** *** Business Manager

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Good afternoon, I have read the their response and have to disagree with a few things. first off as noted in the original quote we had planned to do a lot more work. This was mentioned to [redacted] once we received the quote and with that being said we only wanted    2 rooms done due to budget. That should have been the first red flag to mention T&M or cost change if and when it came. At no point during the bid walk nor throughout the project was I informed this was a time and material job. It was noticed once we received the final bill when [redacted] told us. If a job is quoted as T&M why would you estimate the hours involved and show a total cost unless your trying to mislead a customer. The only comment made by [redacted] once we received the final bill was he agreed that he was in the wrong for not communicating with us that our bill was going to go over budget let alone almost triple. I wrote [redacted] a check for $1,500 as noted the day we met about the bill because I agreed there was some more work in one of the rooms having the 2 layers of wall paper over one and I had no problem paying for that work completed. As for the remainder of the bill I did not receive "several" calls but only email responses to my attempt to settle with them nor I got daily updates on the progress. I did have my sister in-law at my house while the work was in progress but she nor was I tracking their hours. She was there because I am not comfortable leaving my house unlocked or having strangers alone in my home while I am not there. I would also like to note the attachment with my response to them about contacting the Revdex.com and attorney for advice was only after repeated emails from them trying to have me confirm I refused to pay their bill and that they were going to send me to collections. I was starting to feel they were trying to extort me in a way. In conclusion in my experience if a contractor works outside the agreement without approval it is at the risk of the contractor.  Regards,[redacted]
