DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT SCAM ARTIST: LAWSUIT PENDING AND LICENSE REVOCATION PROCESS IN PROGRESS
Background : College educated parents with 3 children prior to this birth (with both Dr's and midwife experience).
Her practice: Consists of her and 2 other midwifes (in training) which she will later tell you are not affiliated with her if a problem arises. She also has/had billing person which does absolutely nothing and leaves you to deal with billing and insurance (again distancing herself once she realized they made major errors)
We have never been so appalled or disgusted at a place of business rendering a moment of expected happiness to an experience that will devastate anyone. Filled with lies, arrogant behaviour and medically dangerous manoeuvres. Most, if not all, people reviewing here are friends of her business (or paid people) including a chiropractor that she tried to send us to.
Medical :
- She is a CPM (high school educated) with a couple classes to get her license. While education is not a full measure of potential in this case it was clear.
- Throughout the visits there were questionable recommendations and gaps in her medical knowledge that we noticed but again decided to trust her; she puts on a very plastic smile and tries to portray a kind personality (truly far from it)
- Discovered multiple hurdles of surprise limitations to her practice (not listed in her agreements) such as you must have certain level of Fe content in your blood or else SHE COULD NOT DELIVER THE BABY. She searches for a path NOT to have to deliver and just send you to the hospital so her workload is much less.
- Approaching the last week enter dilatation checks. NOT ONLY WAS IT EXTREMELY PAINFUL WITH SCREAMING THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE (UNLIKE ANY OF OUR 3 CHILDREN) SHE WAS OFF BY DOUBLE THE ACTUAL AMOUNT. We had no complications, this was supposed to be a simple check, and neither her nor the other midwives knew what they were doing. Her violent checks lead to pre-mature water breakage and eventually hospital. SHE CLAIMED WE WERE IN ACTIVE LABOUR AND THE DR. SAID THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. She later tried to cover it up by saying we went from 10cm (her claim) to 5cm in the 15 min car ride to the hospital !!!!! THIS IS MEDICAL INCOMPETENCY AT ITS BEST. IT ALSO EXPLAINS WHY SHE CLEARLY STATES SHE DOES NOT HAVE MALPRACTICE INSURANCE ON THE AGREEMENT.
- Due to this we had to induce labour at the hospital since the newborn was at risk.
- To compare medical details we tried to log on to the portal she provides only to find she had disabled our account . Her excuse: she thought we dropped care with her. After many txt messages she finally re-opened access when warned we need our medical information that she is not disclosing. We later discovered she added a follow up appointment while we were still not even discharged from the hospital and labelled it "NO SHOW" likely in an attempt to cover herself.
- Her midwife took pictures of the birth in an invasion of our privacy, we had never asked for this and then she disappeared without returning our calls/tx ; all this at the request of *** (the head designer of this scam). Only after realizing she was going to face legal avenues did *** (months later) note she had asked her to delete them, apparently we are supposed to trust her to do that.
Financial : In her agreement she asks for $5400 up front ($3200 deposit and the rest to be paid BEFORE DELIVERY) . WHAT BUSINESS DO YOU KNOW REQUEST PAYMENT BEFORE RENDERED SERVICES? WE LATER FOUND OUT FROM HER OWN MIDWIFE "PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO PAY HER" - SAYS IT ALL. WE ARE NOW LEFT WITH $10,000 + MEDICAL BILLS THANKS TO *** AND HER FAILURES. Her arrogant AND lying responses were to follow so we've given up on her ENSURING SHE NEVER PRACTICES AGAIN BY FILING TO GET HER LICENSE REVOKED ALONG WITH A LAWSUIT TO RECOVER OUR FINANCIAL DAMAGES. IN SUMMARY WE PAID $5000 TO HER FOR 3 HOME VISITS AND DRIVE TO THE HOSPITAL. We are sure she will try to deflect our comments from reality here but TRUTH IS TRUTH.

Update 8/4 : *** fraudulently filed insurance codes for this service and breached the contract for service. The filing indicates "office visit" rather than "birth". This will be a good addition to the court case being filed

Because of limitations of privacy laws for healthcare providers, I unfortunately cannot respond to the specific complaints you have expressed. However, as I offered previously, I invite you to meet with a mediator who can help you more clearly understand the risks and conditions that resulted in the transfer to the hospital. Perhaps, if we met for a respectful conversation we could review the scope of care, limitations of midwifery by law, and the consent forms you signed explaining all of that. It would also be helpful for a mediator to explain the various roles people played to make it clear who is in my practice vs. employees of the hospital over whom I have no influence. If we are able to meet, I would also like to include a representative from your insurance company and medical practice managers who can explain the standard practice of paying the deductible as well as the standard practice of billing "global obstetrics" and how that affects the process. I know all of those details are complicated and unfamiliar, but I have confidence that once we meet you will more accurately understand the facts of this situation.

Most of the issues you mentioned are too close to the HIPAA restrictions for me to address because I would have to disclose health information as I tried to correct myriad misrepresentations. One area I can address is the discussion about the photographs because those did not happen under my supervision. The student midwife who graciously attended your wife at the hospital in your absence did not, in fact, take the photos. The nurse at the hospital offered to take photos for your wife to share with you as a sweet way to try to make a difficult situation better. The photos were taken by the nurse with your wife's consent as a sweet gesture. The nurse is a hospital employee. I don't even know her name. I did learn, though, that she received consent from your wife to take them. Since you did not respond to any correspondence from me after the birth for the first week, I was not even aware that there were photos. A little over a week after the birth I learned of them and that same day I facilitated overcoming the data challenges the student midwife had with her phone to try to get them to you, and I confirmed they were removed.

I wish you and your family only the best. I thoroughly loved caring for your sweet wife, and enjoyed the many hours we spent in prenatal appointments and in labor. I am so sorry that the birth had to happen at the hospital, but it was the safest and best choice for your wife and baby. And, I did everything in my power to facilitate a transfer to the best hospital that would continue to support your plans as respectfully as possible.

I would like other readers of this review to know that I am a licensed midwife in the state of Texas. Anyone can make a complaint, and the State will review the documentation and facts of the case. In this case, I have submitted all of the information for review and there is no fault or malpractice.

The problem with dishonesty is you need to continuously look for an excuse to hide the issue at hand and the repercussions associated. Additionally since you are now in the public eye you choose to finally interact with a sense of acknowledgment to the situation as opposed to your neglectful and arrogant limited communication in the past; what a complete turn-around but not surprising considering you like to create fictional stories. What seems difficult for you as an individual to understand is people are not stupid, and can discern from people that are truthful and people that are just trying to play the PR game in order to continue a fraudulent scheme such as this one. After months of deception, distancing yourself from your affiliates and arrogant ignorance to the medical and financial you have caused, you have the audacity to claim you 'invited us to meet with a mediator' , what a comical attempt at ignoring the facts. The reality is after the many months of your lack of co-operation and consistent arrogant occasional response that ended with statements like "I have done what I can, go speak with ......" you are trying to portray yourself as someone with an iota of professionalism. To remind you, that invite was only made ONLY after we notified you of our intent to seek legal recourse on your license to help protect the public and recovery of over $10,000 in financial damages as a result of your inability to also submit the billing on time. And even after you have recently done so, you have breached your own contract by filing the entire experience as office visits; whatever the new excuse is you will have an opportunity to explain that to the judge. Patronizing people as if they have no knowledge of insurance billing as a method to explain your failures in submitting payments that has caused all this financial damage, will also not help your case. I not only went over the procedures with the insurance company in detail but all the billing as well, and having an engineering degree gives me confidence that I am able to add and subtract. It is not surprising you would hide behind HIPAA laws as you have nothing else to use to help your case in front of the public eye. Your entire 2 page letter attempting to explain all your failures (which you still don't believe that to be the case) centered on distancing yourself from all the people you contract with, your midwives, billing person, etc.. When it came to discussing why you failed on a dilation check by that vast amount WHICH WAS THE MAIN POINT OF FAILURE and chain reaction of medical disasters to follow, your only response was captured in one sentence : "May be her dilation changed from 10cm (active labour) to 5cm in the ride to the hospital". Nothing else, so please don't try to hide behind any HIPAA laws for the one topic that we already expressed publicly; we are not discussing blood count, history etc.. It is very simple your medical competency is such that when you tell a woman she is 10cm dilated while she was less than half of that according to an actual medical professional. An opportunity for you to admit to your mistakes and resolve was provided months ago, you chose to run with this excuse. Not to mention the stash and grab operation you run by making sure you have the funds even before the birth. Your own midwife explained why you do that, "simply because people don't want to pay"; who would? Insult to injury, as of today you are now adding a new lie by stating you don't know the midwife's name that took the pictures and violated our privacy? WOW! Let me ask you this, you don't know the name of the person that came to all 3 of our in home visits with you?The one you introduced to us yourself? And then you still sent us a text message later advising you confirmed the pictures were deleted after speaking with her? Which one is it? This is the sad part of dishonesty, after you start with one deception you quickly have to look for ways to cover it up with the next. And for the record NO she was NOT given permission to take pictures, PERIOD.The disingenuous portrayal of your "care" for my "sweet wife" is quite clear to all, you can use all the PR moves to show that you have a legitimate business but the reality is you don't care, and try to run this back alley garage business like a corporation where you do what you like, pretend to care, and move on as long as you are making a profit. Do you define care as walking a pregnant woman all night to try and hasten labour because of your failure to measure dilation and until the point of exhaustion and dropping on the floor on the public streets? Correct anyone can complain but not all are willing to pursue you in court for $10K in damages and your license since you are a danger to public health and safety. Maybe enforce a need for you to pursue a medical education that surpass *** standards.Until you remit the 'stolen' funds there are no grounds for discussion, you had many months for remorse.
