Frontenac Harbor Marina Reviews (4)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Their response stating the review of the boat is much like that of renting a car is exactly my argument. You can view degrees when checking the condition of a car, but not when checking the boat. The side that had the dent was NOT viewable when the boat was docked/before we took the boat out. There was no way for us to see that side of the boat, and the dent was not viewable from inside the boat. It wasn't until we brought the boat back to the dock and docked it on the other side for the first time when we saw the dent. As for the company claiming my husband/the driver was clearly intoxicated is absurd. Although we visited wineries/purchased wine on our trip, nobody on the boat was intoxicated. In addition, the only people getting heated during the discussion were the employees of Frontenac. It was shocking to see them act so unprofessionally when we tried to defend our position on the case. In fact, they got heated when the saw me take a picture of the boat/the dent. This is why I ultimately took the issue to Revdex.com, as they would not apply logic/reason to the case in person. I truly hope if someone drove a boat back to their dock who was visibly intoxicated they would contact the proper authorities. I'd like to see their footage of our return on camera, as I'm certain there were no signs of intoxication or irrational behavior on behalf of my husband and our party. I believe this company should reimburse us for the cost of the dented boat, as we did not create the dent. I truly believe the dent was there prior to our rental, and I would not be surprised if we are not the first party who got charged the fee. Seems like a scam they were ready and prepared to address as soon as we returned to the dock knowing we were unaware of the previous damage and they have you backed into a corner with no recourse but to pay the fine or you cannot leave.
Regards,
*** ***

Pursuant to our telephonic conversation a little while ago, attached are the 3-page contract (filled out by another member of the party *** ***) and the damages page (signed by Mr *** ***). This was a brand new *** ** *** with only a small ding in the front pontoon, as circled on the damages page. When it was returned, the rear fence had a significant "crimp" in it*** *** is the lady with whom I thought we had reached an amicable settlement. (Please note the $in the margin next to the Rear Fence listed at $on the Replacement Charges page. We felt that we had been more than fair.) Honestly, I'm very saddened by being accused of "scamming" someone, as we have been doing boat rentals for years, and this has never happened before. Renting a pontoon boat from us is supposed to be an enjoyable experienceRespectfully submitted

Revdex.com spoke to Karla at business and the following was relayed: The customer had a warranty issue with his seatThe manufacturer replaced the seat cushion and the first two times it was damaged in shippingThe third cushion arrived on Wednesday and has been inspected and is free from damageNick is
expecting to bring out and install for customer by the end of the weekAdditionally, the customer had an issue with the brake line for their trailerWe have agreed to have Mr*** go to another authorized dealer closer to where he lives and send us the bill for reimbursement

Prior to sending a renter out on our boats, we have them inspect them with us.  They sign a document which clearly shows the condition of the boat prior to their renting it--much like a rental car.  They signed the document, and when they returned the boat, there was, indeed, a new dent in...

it.  The pricing--also on the document they signed--clearly showed the replacement value at $375.  As the Controller here, and because the situation was becoming heated, I stepped in, and settled the dispute for $175 plus tax ($189).  I actually met them more than half way with respect to the replacement cost.  What they did not mention is the reason the sheriff was going to be called.  The driver of the boat was clearly intoxicated, and he tried to deny he was driving the boat.  We have video cameras throughout the Marina which clearly showed him as the driver.  I thought this had been settled amicably, and quite frankly, this complaint comes as a surprise.
