This is a response to your letter dated Weds. June 28, 2017.  Badger Environmental Services was contacted by a Mr. [redacted] on June 1, 2017 about a possible asbestos contamination in a bathroom floor located at [redacted] WI.   Mr. [redacted] informed me his...

father in law sanded a linoleum floor in their bathroom and he felt his home was contaminated from possible asbestos dust.  Mr. [redacted] called several asbestos companies to get pricing and quick service on this project. He then called me and asked for some pricing over the phone. I told him without looking at the project it could be $1500.00 to HEPA vacuum the entire 1st floor and wet wipe all surfaces.  He then asked me if there would also be a cash discount if he paid in cash. I said I’m sure we can work something out. Please note that this is a very busy time for asbestos abatement companies, we then had to reschedule other work to fit this project in our schedule. We arrived onsite and set up and met with Mr. [redacted] and proceeded to get started with the work, we did a very thorough job. We established a containment, cleaned the rest of the bathroom floor and removed the rest of the suspect paper backing attached to the floor. We then HEPA cleaned all surfaces in the house and wet wiped all surfaces. Please note that the house DID NOT seem contaminated with a heavy dust and was more like an everyday household dust.  However, we continued to clean all surfaces and we also encapsulated the remaining bathroom floor with an approved EPA encapsulant.  Mr. [redacted] also asked me if we could clean his garage garbage cans out as that is where his Father-In-law disposed of some debris. We also went above and beyond and cleaned his garage where his father left a floor sander in the garage and other tools. We also disposed of a vacuum cleaner they used.  We feel we arrived on this project in a timely manner, performed an excellent clean up and we gave Mr. [redacted] a BIG discount. We only charged them $1,100.00 for the work(See emailed receipt dated June 06, 2017). Since this is not a school or commercial project an air test wasn’t warranted and also not required.  However, we did run an air test and the laboratory found the sample cassette to have a manufacture defect (Please see the attached letter from the laboratory we used stating it was defective).  I do apologize for that.   Therefore, I feel we did an excellent project and these people are just well never satisfied. In good faith I will send an employee to run another air test in the home free of charge but I will not discount ant monies or pay for other sampling by other firms.  I feel we did extra work and did a very thorough clean up. I am an asbestos inspector licensed by the state of Wisconsin and I back up our work.      All persons testing and removing or cleaning asbestos are certified by the Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Family Services asbestos containing materials.
