Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/10/02) */
Hi ***,
Thank you for the information regarding the Revdex.com complaint filed by *** *** (case #XXXXXXXX)We've done some internal investigation to remedy the situation as quickly as possible, and our team came up with the
following conclusions:
Mr*** is not a customer of FundboxHe never created an account with us or used our services at any time, nor has he tried to contact us about this complaint
Mr*** has complained that he is seeing display advertising for Fundbox on his personal Facebook accountFundbox indeed uses Facebook for advertising purposesAlthough we take extreme care to specify that our ads be shown exclusively to users who Facebook identifies as business owners, we unfortunately have absolutely no control over who gets shown which ad within this criteria, as this is handled automatically by Facebook's targeting algorithmsIt appears that in this case, Mr***' Facebook account was identified by these algorithms as a business owner account
As these algorithms are known to have the occasional mistake, each ad shown on Facebook includes a quick and easy button that allows the user to hide it and any other ads by the same advertiser, exactly so that customers who feel that specific ads or advertisers are unwanted can dismiss this content and not be bothered by it in the futureWe've attached an example showing how this can be done with one of our ads
Given that the issue Mr*** is reporting is the result of Facebook's algorithms misidentifying his account as a business owner account, and the fact that Facebook provides a one-click solution to hiding ads, we believe this issue should be resolved without further action such as posting the complaintWe've contacted Mr*** and *** be working with him resolve the issue to his satisfactionWe'll update you when this issue is resolved
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/10/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have already used the hide function, I have also gone to Facebook's Opt-out page to opt-out of all business related adsI have gone as far as using the block page feature, a feature I have used a few thousand times that prevents the company or persons page from being seen at all, but it *** not block Fundbox and keeps marking me as following no matter how many times I uncheck it
Since I have never seen Facebook's advertising contract or any ad contract, I can't say for sure if this is a Facebook programing error or a "paid feature" of the contract - I would think the later since I have had the same issue before with other companies
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/10/12) */
Thanks for the prompt response!
To be absolutely clear, we have no control over Facebook's ad display logicSpecifically - we are not using any feature to keep showing ads to a user after that user has opted out, nor are we aware that such a feature existsFurthermore, even if such a feature did exist, it would not be in our best interest to use it, because much of our budget is allocated to paying per ad that was displayed, meaning that this practice would actually cause us to waste money by displaying ads to people who don't want to see themAgain - unfortunately, we have exactly zero control on Facebook's opt-out mechanismWe suggest you contact Facebook support and *** be happy to assist with resolving this issue from our side

Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 6, 2015/03/15) */
Business got back to me today via email and subsequently by phone. They had researched the issue carefully based on information I provided and agreed this was without a doubt, a case of identity theft for which I am not responsible. They...

indicated they were unaware of any difficulties with their customer support line but would investigate the possibility of an outage on the day I had called.
Is it possible for me to retract the complaint? I am completely satisfied with their response.
