The primary issue with this contractor was timing and communication We contracted with Larsen Construction on July 13, for patio sliding glass doors by *** *** *** ***Installation to include repair of dry rot areas under existing doors that were to be replaced The contract indicated doors are usually received within to weeks (approx.) and usually installed within a week or twoAfter installation I contacted the local distributor *** and *** *** to find out when the doors were ordered by Larsen and when they were available for delivery to Larsen Construction Larsen submitted the door order to BMD, Incon Sept6th *** sent an order on to *** *** on the same day, Sept6th *** *** shipped the requested patio doors from Minnesota on Sept16th The doors were not installed until November 21st with the rest of the job completed by December 16, July 13, - entered into contract with Larsen Construction for purchase and installation of patio doors
Sept1, - contacted contractor to find out if the doors were available yetSept8, – after emails asking for information, finally a response but only that when they come in his installer would call to setup an installation date No timing information at allSept16, – after several emails, phone calls and office visits we were told that the distributor would receive the doors by Sept23rd But since he was going on vacation he would not request them to be sent to him until his return on Oct10, Oct10, – we visited Larsen at his office and found that the doors were available and he should have them by Oct18th when he would verify that were what we ordered and in good shape He agreed that his installer should contact us by Oct20thOct26, - after no call for Larsen’s installer for an installation date we got back to LarsenWe were given a new date for contact of Oct29th or Oct31st NO CALL received
Nov1, – now Larsen gave us his installers phone number The installer did answer the call and briskly told us the install date would be Nov21st, Nov21, – Fortunately it wasn’t raining that day The doors were installed We had to wait a week for an inspection because the city office was closed until the week after ThanksgivingNov30, - reported to Larsen that the inspection was passed and we could move on to the stucco work outside and sheetrock/texture insideDec5, - contacted around pm that the stucco guy wanted to come the next day at 8: Not much lead time for us to put up plastic to protect the glass from dripsDec6, - scratch coat applied and called for inspection
Dec7, - inspected and passed, notified Larsen
Dec13, – stucco final coat applied, the work was inspected and passed
Dec16, – interior sheetrock and texture done/completed, delay was due to illnessDec20, – final inspectionThe install was performed on the day planned Since daylight was short they rushed the job and did a very mediocre cleanup We had issues with the install and discussed them with the local inspector but he still passed the install The issue with the flashing installed did result in water leakage with the following rain Larsen did attempt to address that problem but it persisted Since we do not want his construction people back to work at our house we are dealing with the water issue ourselves We had no problem with the exterior stucco or interior sheetrock/texture workWe do not recommend this contractor, Larsen Construction
