Furniture Restoration Reviews (1)

Review: We hired Furniture Restoration to re-surface our conference room tables. The day they came to do the work it was raining. They asked if they could do the work inside the hotel. I told them only if it will not smell inside the hotel and that it is safe. They said it wont. The work went underway and an hour later the hotel started to smell really bad causing our guest to get sick. I checked through the chemical that they used and they all said to be used outside, never indoors. They left and never finished the work. They were supposed to come back the following Sunday to clean up and finish but never came. I have reached out to the vendor for a reimbursement but would not comply. They falsified their certificate of insurance stating they had insurance but they never had insurance. When I told them to send me a real one it took them over a month to do so. I called the insurance company of the new certificate and they said they were not insured at that time. The hotel is still waiting on a refund.Desired Settlement: Refund of entire amount for the work that was not finished.

Response:

The day we did the work it was raining. We were going to finish the tables outside, to prevent the odor from staying in the area.Since we could not do the work outside. they should have provided a suitable space. They let us do the work in a small room with not much ventilation.Nothing was said at the time.I went to the hotel to check on the work and found out that the tables were not properly finished.I told them that we would come back and rectify the situation. That offer is still valid. We always stand by our work.Thank you,[redacted]

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First off, the decision to do it inside was the sub contractor that [redacted] had do the work and they clearly did not want to reschedule the work. This is not the hotels profession and we are not experts in the restoration field. The subcontractor that [redacted] chose to do the work assured us that it is completely safe to do the work inside and that the smell would be very small. It will not pose a health hazard. I showed them the room where they could do the work and they said it had plenty of ventilation because the door goes to the outside. We agreed because the so called professionals said it would be "SAFE".Second, [redacted] states we should of provided a suitable space to do the work indoors. Well if you read the MSDS sheets, it clearly states that the chemicals used should never be used indoors. Its for outdoor use only. I did not find that information out until after the conference side had to be evacuated due to the odor. Thats when I informed the subcontractor that they needed to stop and he said we are finished anyways. We've had multiple guest who complained of being sick and one had to go to the hospital. Third, they sent us a forged copy of their insurance stating they had insurance at the time of service when they really did not. The last time I check that is illegal and is fraud. We couldn't even have them back if we wanted too because of that.Lastly, that is why the property is asking for a refund. The work is not complete and they broke the law by sending us a false copy of insurance, knowing they were not insured at the time.I can provide all documentation by via email if needed.

I'm sorry but we can not have you do anymore work for us because you falsified your insurance certificate saying you were insured when actually you were not insured. You broke the law.
