We moved in OctoberBesides not offering an in person estimate, and therefore low balling it so that the price doubles when the movers arrived, they sent guys to load but only one to deliver After asking for our goods to be delivered, I waited a week to hear from themThen, I called times Each time a different person answered and said that the person I needed to speak to was out of the office and they would have them call me back as soon as they got in They never didWhen I finally got in touch with the person I needed to speak to, he copped an attitude, and told me that our goods would be delivered as soon as they could, but would not give me even a couple days wide estimated arrival window Upon delivery, we had heirloom glasses smashed, a lamp crushed, our bed damaged, several boxes missing, and the one person who delivered the goods by himself damaging walls By their insurance policy, we would receive $per pound of lost and or damaged goods $for the bed that costs 15x that to replace $for the lampLess than a dollar for priceless crystal glassesTo top it off, if you make a claim, it is their policy that any item claimed for damage becomes their property, despite the fact that you cannot replace anything for that rate of claim payoutI see many people giving star reviews for this business without any comments Based on my experience with this company, I wonder if this is employees trying to improve their own reviews? I strongly encourage anyone looking to move from or within the Washington, D.CMetro area to look elsewhere for movers

This will serve to respond to the Consumer Complaint recently filed by Ms [redacted] against Future Van Lines with your Office.
Based on your contract you have the basic valuation with coverage of $0.60 per pound per article. (No insurance for replacement on...

file).Standard Relocation Service includes: Labor time, Loading, Unloading, Shipping, Handling, Fuel, Taxes, Mileage and the Protection of your Furniture with moving blankets. Included in our rates is the basic valuation package with coverage of $0.60 per pound per article if anything is lost or damaged. For additional coverage, contact us at least 2 weeks prior to your move.
By clicking on the electronic signature below, I confirm that I have read and understand my Order for Service and agree to all terms and conditions. I understand the details of service to be provided. I confirm that the information I provided for this estimate are true and correct. I understand that any additional items and services not included in my Order for Service will be an additional charges.
When the customer scheduled the move with Future Van Lines we had offered 2 kinds of insurance:
1) $0.60 per pound per article. 2) Full Value Coverage. The Customer denied the full value coverage and decided to proceed with the $0.60 per pound per article which we provide for free. After the move was completed the customer contacted Future Van Lines claiming he had damage, our claim department takes care about his case immediately which is based off the contract that he signed electronically as well as on the move date. As the customer said the claim department wants to pay him $62.00 for his damage based on the contract that he signed with our company. We feel very disappointed from his actions and his complaints to the Revdex.com.
Does that sound reasonable that someone is going to make a third party car insurance make and accident and then call to his car insurance and state that he wants the full value of his car? Of course not because the insurance company is going to let him know that he has a third party insurance and he will not receive the money to fix his car, that is why we have no idea as to why the customer wants us to pay him a full value of the repair when he denied the full coverage insurance.
FVL will be happy to provide further information to your office, and assist in investigating this complaint to the fullest.
Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because $50 does not come close to making up the awful service and damage.  A company should be held responsible for their poor service.  If they are able to pay $50 to keep getting away with their poor performance, then bad reviews will not be posted or available  for future customers to consider before hiring.  The company will not correct their service if their aren't consequences.
I replied by mail when I received their letter and have attached it as well.

It is hard for me to give FVL a bad review. The employees are nice and they seem to be a good company. But, when I recently moved my 1 bedroom apartment coast to coast my estimate of $3060 became $4750 and I felt over a barrel. I told them what I had (a queen bed, large dresser, small dresser, end table, couch, recliner, stuffed chair and ottoman, dining room table with 4 chairs, 6 small and 3 tall garage cabinets.....) you get the idea.
Once they load it and secure everything, you have no choice but to pay what they say. Its a very uncomfortable feeling. I've moved coast to coast 3 times and have never experienced this. Live and learn!!!!!

It is hard for me to give FVL a bad review. The employees are nice and they seem to be a good company. But, when I recently moved my 1 bedroom apartment coast to coast my estimate of $3060 became $4750 and I felt over a barrel. Once they load it and secure everything, you have no choice but to pay what they say. Its a very uncomfortable feeling. I've moved coast to coast 3 times and have never experienced this. Live and learn!!!!!

We moved in October. Besides not offering an in person estimate, and therefore low balling it so that the price doubles when the movers arrived, they sent 4 guys to load but only one to deliver. After asking for our goods to be delivered, I waited a week to hear from them. Then, I called 4 times. Each time a different person answered and said that the person I needed to speak to was out of the office and they would have them call me back as soon as they got in. They never did. When I finally got in touch with the person I needed to speak to, he copped an attitude, and told me that our goods would be delivered as soon as they could, but would not give me even a couple days wide estimated arrival window. Upon delivery, we had heirloom glasses smashed, a lamp crushed, our bed damaged, several boxes missing, and the one person who delivered the goods by himself damaging walls. By their insurance policy, we would receive $0.60 per pound of lost and or damaged goods. $60 for the bed that costs 15x that to replace. $5 for the lamp. Less than a dollar for priceless crystal glasses. To top it off, if you make a claim, it is their policy that any item claimed for damage becomes their property, despite the fact that you cannot replace anything for that rate of claim payout. I see many people giving 5 star reviews for this business without any comments. Based on my experience with this company, I wonder if this is employees trying to improve their own reviews? I strongly encourage anyone looking to move from or within the Washington, D.C. Metro area to look elsewhere for movers.
