F&W Pest Control, Inc. Reviews (4)

The resolution proposed--full treatment of the crawl space for powder post beetles--is acceptable Mr*** did mention this to me as he was leaving, but he said that he had to check with Mr*** And Mr*** did not make this offer in his last email to me In any case, I will accept this as resolution, but given our timeline, we need to have this service completed within the next business days I ask that F & W contact me immediately by email to confirm that this work will be done, and we will agree on a mutually acceptable day and time We will also need written confirmation from F & W when the service is completed.Thank you,*** ***

We disagree with Mr. [redacted] claims. As you can see from the attached email threads, and our internal system notes, we have made every attempt to respond to his concerns in a timely manner, especially consider the recent snowstorms. On two occasions Mr. [redacted] cancelled...

schedule appointments with little or no warning. On October 30, 2013 our Pest Management Technician [redacted] noted on his inspection report that he observed a large hole that was allowing rodent entry. Our technician advised them that the area should be repaired. Our typical service involves a visual inspection of exposed areas. We do not remove personal belonging or insulation as part of our service. Since we reported this damage, no attempt to correct or repair the dames has been made by Mr. [redacted].When he first contacted us with his concerns, we requested a copy of the inspection report from his consultant. He refused to supply us with the finding of his “two independent pest experts” stating he didn’t feel comfortable disclosing that information. We’ve attached copies of the service agreements from his original termite application, and subsequent PestGuard Plus program. As you can see from the highlighted areas, we are very clear that we do not cover any damage. On February 6th, [redacted], our board certified entomologist made a thorough inspection of Mr. [redacted]’s home, paying particular attention to the crawl space. Mr. [redacted]’s inspection findings and recommendations are attached. As you can see from his notes, moisture appears to be the major contributing factor to the damage. In closing we feel Mr. [redacted]'s claims to be unreasonable, especial considering he was told of the damage and hole in the crawlspace over a year ago.

Complaint# [redacted]In response:1. The response provided to Revdex.com and Mr. [redacted] is accurate as you can see from the attached documents provided earlier as you can see through various emails, portal questions and inter office notes.2. F&W Pest Control has yet to see the report from the two independent pest experts who reported that the powder post beetles have ben active in a crawl space area, and dispute these claims.  We maintain that the damage was from a greater degree the water and moisture buildup in the crawl space that was in our report.3. Mr. [redacted] says we mention a completely irrevelant matter of a "depression" in the crawl space.  We did not mention a "depression" and are unclear as to what Mr. [redacted] is referencing. The only reason the Powder Post Beetles where in the sill, as stated in the inspection report is because of excessive water and moisture.  Which occurred as a result of improper flashing and air ventilation devices being blocked with insulation.4. F&W Pest Control's entomologist [redacted] did identify Powder Post Beetles in sill after excessive insulation was removed from the area as stated in inspection report.  As he states the Powder Post Beetle damage was not enough in itself to cause any structural damage.5. F&W Pest Control was contracted to service the entire house, but is not our policy to randomly routinely remove insulation from attics, basements or crawlspaces unless specifically asked to address a concern from the homeowner.6. Mr. [redacted] understood entering the agreement with F&W Pest Control that we are not responsible for insect damage."F&W Pest Control is not responsible for and has no duty to repair either visible damage (whether or not noted on the attached inspection Graph included with the PestGuard PLUS Service) or hidden damage existing as of the date of this agreement. Because damage may be present in areas which are inaccessible to visual inspection, F&W Pest Control does not guarantee that the damage disclosed on the Inspection Graph represents all of the existing damage as of the date of this agreement. Because no treatment program is failsafe, F&W Pest Control does not guaranty that no damage will occur in the future. F&W Pest Control shall not be liable for damage to Customer's property during inspection or the application of treatments unless cause by its' gross negligence. "F&W Pest Control maintains the position that this damage was from water and that it was hidden  from view.  Even from Mr. [redacted] the homeowner for over 12 years.  We feel that Mr. [redacted] is attempting to have F&W Pest Control pay for the 90% water damaged sill claiming it was a sole result of hidden Powder Post Beetle's.[redacted] offered in good faith to treat Mr. [redacted]'s sills in crawlspace for free, an $1800 value. We have yet to hear back from Mr. [redacted] regarding this offer.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Regards,
[redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,I have read the response from F & W, and it is terribly inadequate and disappointing.  First, they do not include the full record: they have selectively included a few emails, but they do not report the several phone calls I made to their office; the several times that the office person said that Mr. [redacted] was not "available" to speak with; the several emails that I sent to explain the damage reported to me and the detailed estimate of the work needed to be done to repair the damage; the email that I sent calmly stating that if I did not hear from them that I would be forced to report this matter to the Revdex.com and to the State Office of Consumer Affairs; and the emails politely requesting a response from either [redacted] or [redacted].  They effectively ignored my requests for information and redress until they absolutely had to respond--and that is not good business practice, especially for a customer who had spent thousands of dollars for their services since 2002.Their letter also mentions a completely irrelevant matter: the depression in the crawl space.  That has NOTHING to do with the powder post beetles that were found in the wood sills!  What is at issue is the beetles--which were only most recently confirmed by their own "expert."  The simple fact remains that their routine inspections of my property over many years--which included inspections of the crawl space on each visit--failed to detect the beetles and the damage that they were causing over a long period of time.  My complaint is that they failed to DETECT the beetles and the damage.  A professional pest control company should be embarrassed that their professional inspections did not turn up this problem AT ANY POINT.  At the very least, an apology to a good customer is in order and a reasonable settlement of the $2,800 in damages should be extended.  Instead, all that I have received are dismissals of my concerns and a flat refusal to extend any kind of monetary settlement.  Their response to Revdex.com is just more of the same.  I am hoping that Revdex.com will help mediate a fair and reasonable monetary settlement of the matter.Sincerely,[redacted]
