Contact lenses provided hurt my eyes since I got them. Business did not check fit or suitability before I left store. No real solution provided.
In August of 2018, I purchased a pair of gas permeable contact lenses from FYI Doctors that were paid by my insurance. FYI Doctors did not check the fit or comfort of my contact lenses before I left their store with them. I was not given any paperwork that specified the warranty on the lenses or what was covered. I did not receive any warranty paperwork on my glasses either.

FYI Doctors had the results from my last eye exam and previous prescription to start from. The lenses and glasses I ordered were provided after 2 unsuccessful eye exams to get my prescription correct was resolved with a correct prescription from *** in Calgary, AB. I had to fight to get that corrected because Dr. *** and the initial optometrist stuck to their rushed findings and not the findings of ***, who took 2 hours to do my eye exam and did it properly because it was for surgical vision correction. I was eventually given credit for the second eye exam that FYI Doctors performed.

When I first wore my new contact lenses from FYI Doctors they burned my eyes and I had to take them out after 10-15 minutes. I called their store within 2 weeks and they gave me a new bottle of solution to use. I tried it and it allowed me to wear the contact lenses for up to 2 hours without much discomfort until the end, but the lenses still didn't suit me properly. I called FYI Doctors again in September and they told me the lenses were fine. The lenses were not fine -- I still can't wear them.

I called 2 weeks ago to try and get some resolution about my contact lenses finally and I was told today that there was only a 90-day warranty on my contact lenses. If I had been given any indication (particularly a document that told me the length of warranty on my contact lenses) that my warranty on th was so short I would have gone back to FYI Doctors about it sooner. I was led to believe that the length of warranty on my contact lenses was the same as my glasses (one year).

I have been *** given non-solutions to the problem with my contact lenses. I spoke to *** today and she told me that the contact lens solution would not have been the problem. ***. If my contact lens complaint had been handled properly and honestly in the first place, I would have comfortable contact lenses to wear right now.

I have never been to an optometrist where I had to have 2 eye exams, then a third at an outside location to get my prescription correct, and where the entire process of examination, fitting, ordering, checking lenses on my eyes and making sure that are correct before I walk out of the store with them has not been followed. I have dealt with optometrists since I was 6.

Desired Outcome

I want to be able to wear the contact lenses my insurance paid for. This requires resolution through a proper contact lens fitting and replacement of my contact lenses. I need to know why the lenses that FYI Doctors sold me are not suitable for me to wear and I want the correct contact lenses that I can wear. It was the responsibility of FYI Doctors to provide and sell to me the proper eyewear in the first place and they need to take responsibility for doing so now. I want this disaster fixed so I can see and use what I paid for in good faith. This situation is entirely unacceptable.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration that Ms. has experienced and regret that she feels her initial care with us was inadequate. We strive to provide quality care to all of our patients.

We have been in touch with Ms. directly to rectify the situation. She has been been back to our clinic and has further follow up scheduled.

FYI Doctors has taken all the necessary actions to correct any issues I had with my eye care. I graciously accept their apology, and I am happy to continue to be their patient and customer.
