G & S Metal Products Company Inc Reviews (2)

Recently purchased an replacement awning for the front entrance door of my home. Price was good. Response was excellent. Workman were quick, neat and courteous. Awning looks great.

Review: Aluminum replacement roof panels on existing aluminum awning were installed on 7/15/2013 in short they leak and caulking around said panels is extremely sloppy. Repeated calls to company have resulted in a visit from company rep who assured problem would be fixed as of 8/20/2013 nothing has been done.Desired Settlement: Panels replaced or repaired caulking redone

Response:

We were contracted to replace hail damaged aluminum awning panels above address. The existing framework and flashing were not changed, only the 55 individual slats that make up the top of the awning. When we were installing the panels Mr. [redacted] informed us of a leaking problem that had recently started to occur. We did reseal the existing flashing of the awning. However, before we did the awning work the [redacted] had contracted a roofing company to do roof work on their home. At the time of our July 24th inspection regarding the report of the awning leak, we were able to see a number of possible openings at the shingled roof line and fascia seams where leaking could easily occur. The aluminum fascia trim has several openings which could permit water to go behind the metal trim where the awning is sealed and allow leakage below the awning or even into the wall of the house and down to the foundation. I have attached photos of these gaps.

Because Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] are good repeat customers I decided we would seal these areas that the roofer left unattended. It is above the awning and we could accomplish this task without doing damage to the new awning panels. I told Mr. [redacted] it could take some time, but if he could be patient we would be back to take care of this issue. We will schedule this to be done on August 27th.

Response:

When awning leaked after installation, Mrs. [redacted] called Mr. [redacted] office on two separate occasions and left messages and her cell phone number with the office staff asking that Mr. [redacted] return Mrs. [redacted] calls regarding the leak. Mr. [redacted] never returned Mrs. [redacted] calls.

Mr. [redacted] called Mr. [redacted] to state that Mr. [redacted] would be at Mr. [redacted] house on July 24. Mr. [redacted] viewed the leakage along the entire length of the awning and took photos. Mr. [redacted] did not tell Mr. [redacted] to be patient. Mr. [redacted] told Mr. [redacted] that the repair would be done the week of August the 4th.

Neither Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] received any calls or messages for repair the week of August 4th.

On August 12, Mrs. [redacted] called Mr. [redacted] office and left a message and her cell number with the office staff asking that Mr. [redacted] return Mrs. [redacted] call regarding the repair of the entire awning leak. Mr. [redacted] did not returned Mrs. [redacted] call.

Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] filed a report with the Revdex.com on August 20, 2013. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] have now heard from Mr. [redacted] through the Revdex.com website.

We do accept Mr. [redacted] solution in good faith that this repair will completely remedy leakage NOT ONLY in the area of "possible openings at the shingled roof line and fascia seams where leaking could easily occur " as described and shown in the photos by Mr. [redacted]. The area Mr. [redacted] refers to makes up approximately 1/3 the length of the awning.

The leakage is over the awning's entire length. Please refer to the photos attached that show the leakage onto the stone facing from underneath the awning beginning at the left side of the awning, spanning the entire length of the awning to the right side.

Our expectations are that Mr. [redacted] solution will solve the leakage problem along the entire length of the awing.

Mr. [redacted] can contact either Mr. and Mrs. by phone to schedule a time to for the repair to take place.

Regards,

[redacted]
