Had concrete work done on 9/7/18 at a cost of $11,887.00. It was done in 2 pours. was told this is the best way to do it. Second pour was almost a 1/2 inch higher than first pour. Not enough to trip over but enough to stop a shovel when cleaning snow. I also had a hole open up that was filled fiberglass fibers (they used fibercrete) which is fiberglass strands added to the concrete when it arrives on site. I feel the fiberglass was not mixed in properly. Then during spring/summer of 2019 I had multiple cracks appear in the radius of the construction joints. The concrete should crack at the bottom of the construction, not in the radius. I wonder if these cracks are a result of the same issue with fiberglass strands. E-mailed them shortly after second pour. Did not hear back from them. I called them again 8/1/19 and explained the issues to Vito ***. He said he sees this type of cracking all the time. I've seen a lot of concrete, I have not seen it crack like this. He said he would take a look at it. To this day 10/20/19 I have not heard from him. I guess he moved on.
It is an extreme exaggeration to say the second pour was a half inch higher then the first. We are very careful on how we grade & pour our concrete. The cracking did form in the control joints where cracking is supposed to form if it occurs. With our freeze & thaw conditions, expansion & contraction can cause cracking. Control joints are designed to create a weak point where cracking will form. Although we understand the frustration to find small cracking in a newly pour driveway, this is something that can not be guaranteed against. The driveway has the proper reinforcement and mix of concrete. Mr. is most likely correct about the hole with fiber in it. Unfortunately he had never mentioned it to us prior to this complaint. We did follow all codes and all inspections were passed. Our Company has always had and will continue to strive for a great reputation. Moving on from any customer concerns is not the way we run our business. When Vito spoke to Mr. over the phone he explained that he did not previously receive an email. He also explained that cracking near or in the control joint is normal, but he would go out as soon as possible to take a look. Vito also told Mr. he would call him if he saw anything out of the ordinary. On our end we believed everything was settled after Vito & Mr. phone call. We are always available for our past & future clients by either phone or email. It was never our intention to ignore Mr., we wished he would have made one more phone call to us.
