G. Fedale Roofing Reviews (6)

Review: We originally contacted G. Fedale Roofing back in November 2014 and signed a proposal to have them replace the siding on our house.

We heard nothing from them again. In March 2015 we reached out to them to see if they were going to proceed with the job.

At that time we were told that we would be scheduled. We did not hear from them again until June 2015.

They began work on replacing the siding on our house in June. I was very dissatisfied with how they handled the job. No one on the job appeared to know what we had agreed to do--even though we had a detailed proposal of everything they would do.

After they completed the job we discovered an area of the house that has not been re-sided. Admittedly we ourselves had missed it, but they had people from the salesman, the job manager, the foreman, the workers all over the exterior of the house and not one of them mentioned the unfinished area to us.

At that time we asked them to finish this part of the house and we signed a new proposal. This was on July 14, 2015. After that we heard nothing from them despite attempts from us to contact the job managers. At one point the foreman showed up to do the work, but couldn't because no one had ordered the materials. The job manager assured us he would order the materials. We heard nothing back from them.

Now 10 months after signing the original proposal the job is still not done and they are not communicating with us.Desired Settlement: We want them to finish the job and we want them to do so without charge to us. It has been a painful experience to be treated with such disrespect for our lives and for our home. I should not need to get angry and pursue a business to finish a job that we are paying for. They owe us the completion of this job without charge.

Response:

Our management has reached out to Mr. [redacted]. We have heard and understood his complaint. We have agreed to meet with M. [redacted] to come to a fair resolution of satisfactory completion. Both parties have the common goal to resolve and complete all unfinished items. All special order items that took longer than expected will be completed and installed by the end of next week.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

We have been using G. Fedale services for the past 2 years. I've gotten my house Roof and Siding done, as well as AC Units removed and Porch Wrap job. I'm very satisfied with the quality of their work and the follow-through they have when I had additional questions or concerns about a job.Their workers arrived on time and are responsive. The Project Managers listen to my expectations and work to meet them every time. I never had any issues with scheduling a project and their entire team was honest and professional.

Review: When installing a new roof on our home G. Fedale employees caused damage to a rain gutter on our home and performed inferior installation and/or damage of the roof just above the area of the damage to the gutter. The damage to the gutter was witnessed by a neighbor, who informed me about this after the roof had been installed. When I informed G. Fedale about this, they sent a company representative who claimed they would not replace the gutter because it was "old". However, I know it was an intact, undamaged gutter before the roof work was done. The company representative offered to sell us a new gutter at a substantial price. He also said the inferior installation of the roof (settlement), just above the damaged gutter, was not covered by their warranty. However, the Fedale salesman[redacted] had assured us before we signed a contract that any defective underlayment (plywood) would be replaced in order to prevent settlement. I called [redacted] several times and attempted to resolve this issue. Each time he said a company representative would contact me. More than three weeks have passed and no one has contacted me.Desired Settlement: I feel G. Fedale should replace, at their expense, the rain gutter that was damaged by their work crew. I feel [redacted] was deceptive when he assured us that any defective plywood would be replaced before the roofing material was installed. I accept the fact that the warranty, which we did not receive until approximately 6 weeks after the roof work was done, does state in the fine print that "settlement" is not covered. Since the "settlement" of the roof occurred immediately above the damaged area of the rain gutter, I personally believe that it is highly likely that this might be related to the incident that caused damage to the gutter. I would be willing to pay a portion of the repair of the roof settlement. I believe a reputable company would replace the rain gutter damaged by their employees and absorb at least 50 percent of the cost to repair the roof settlement.

Response:

I, J[redacted] G. Fedale Project Manager met with [redacted] on October 8th. In December of 2012 G. Fedale had installed a new roof for [redacted] stated that his neighbor had witnessed our guys damage his gutter on the front of the house when they set their ladders on it. I admitted that a bracket had been broken on the gutter and that we would certainly replace the brackets on the gutter for free. I also mentioned that because of the age of the gutter it may still leak and I could give him a proposal to replace the entire length. I did however give him the option of replacing the actual brackets that appeared to be damaged for free.

The "roof settlement" that [redacted] mentioned is preexisting. The plywood is in good condition and not compromised. The plywood is following the original structural rafters of the roof which was existing and would not have been replaced/repaired unless specifically requested by the customer as described in the contract. See insert from contract A-1588 below:

[-Structure appears to be in good condition, although there is one rafter on the front upper main slope that appears to be twisting. If plywood is in good condition, do not remove, but if plywood is removed, this will be sistered for additional cost ($9.00/linear ft.)

-There is also a slight swail in the front roof, this can be leveled with sistered rafters if customer chooses to.]

Because it is an aesthetic issue I told [redacted] it would not be covered under warranty but we could fix it at a time and material rate if needed.

At this point we are willing to replace the full length of gutter on the front of the house for free. In addition we will fix the rafter issue (dip) for a discounted rate of $65 per man hour plus material.

Respectfully, [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I had hail damage to my roof, siding, fencing, stucco, gutters etc. and received a settlement from my insurance to have it repaired. I contacted GFedale and I paid a down payment of $1000 by credit card. I received the emailed contract for $5421 on June 23rd, Aug 27th, and Sept. 11, then received an email with a grand total of $5884 on Sept 29th. then I received an invoice for $4884, then received an email saying I owed $8081 on Oct 7th and the balance was $7081. That is when I sent the check for the remainder of the original contract price of $5421 stating "Paid in Full" in the memo section, it was cashed. Then I got an email stating I owed $1660, and received another invoice for $1660. Then received an email stating I owed $2660. I also never signed any of the contracts. So it seems they are just randomly making up charges to see how much they can get out of me.

I also believe GFedale is an untrustworthy company because of a conversation I overheard through an open window. The project manager was telling the siding installer about how GFedale put a whole section of new roof on the wrong house and heard him say "we made a mistake" then chuckle and say they would just add it to the bill of the house they were supposed to put it on anyway. So I believe GFedale will just add charges to peoples bills no matter if the work was done right or wrong or not at all.

My email to GFedale stated, no fence or other minor repairs, only replace the roof and siding. To me roof is just shingles and siding is just the vinyl part. Other minor repairs meant not to do chimney flashing, fascia, gutters, downspouts, etc. When I heard the project manager telling the siding installer, through an open window, to replace gutters and downspouts, I had to go out back and remind them of our previous conversations not to do any of that. They had already taken the downspout off so they had to reattach it and want to charge me for that even though it was their mistake. The chimney flashing was also replaced and I had asked for it not to be, now they want to charge me for that. They are also trying to charge me almost $1000 for 24 hours of demolition even though the total amount of time it took to replace the roof and siding was less than half of that.

Only one fourth of my roof was replaced. The rest of the hail damage on the roof was not spot repaired with salvaged shingles as promised. (it didn't only hail on one fourth of my roof). He told me they weren't able to salvage any shingles because they were crumbling and the damage on the rest of the roof wasn't a problem. But the same type of damage is a problem on the top back section?

Also, there is a small crack in the siding on the back of my house, ladders were slammed against the house causing framed pictures to fall to the floor, my gardens were trampled and tarps thrown over them, and the siding trash was left in a big pile on my front lawn for a week, almost killing my grass, I had to call 3 times to have it picked up.Desired Settlement: I paid the original invoice total with a check marked "Paid in Full". GFedale should erase all additional invoices and false charges for the things that were not done and things that they did which I specifically asked them not to do.

Thank you for allowing the Revdex.com to mitigate this disagreement.

G. Fedale wants to be paid for the work that was done in relation to the insurance adjuster's most recent report. As it describes in the agreed upon contract attached. See the below excerpt for clarification.

- Supply and install labor and materials to expedite the work detailed in the home owners insurance adjusters report that relates to G. Fedale scope.

- Home owner agrees to pay the total RCV (including overhead and profit if applicable) amount detailed in the report relating to G. Fedales scope plus any supplemental items discovered during the course of work to G. Fedale once work is substantially completed.

The first report from the adjuster amounted to $5421.60. G. Fedale met with the adjuster on site in efforts to add on coverage for the homeowner. The updated insurance report after G. Fedale met with the adjuster amounted to 12,511.45. According to the agreed on proposal these additional items and amounts would be owed to G. Fedale if they related to G. Fedale's scope of work. Our invoice attached details work that the home owner opted not to complete.

The home owner is owed by her insurance company $10,863.62. G. Fedale is unsure if the homeowner has received these funds or not.

G. Fedale has received $5,421.60 and sent all receipts to the homeowner. The customer has a remaining balance of $2660.23.

Responses to the complaints of the customer:

Multiple Statements/invoices - G. Fedale sends invoices regularly in efforts to maintain constant income from ongoing jobs. Invoices are edited based on the work that is completed. Especially when relating them to insurance adjuster reports, because the reports tend to change throughout the job. We apologize for the different invoice amounts and confusion but in the end the final invoice relates to exactly what was done according to the agreement.

Claims GFedale is an untrustworthy company - This is the first time we have been accused of being untrustworthy. We would like to offer to have her insurance adjuster do an inspection of the work that was done to ensure that she isn't being billed for something that wasn't done.

Downspout charge - In order to replace one facet of the siding we had to remove some sections of downspout and re-install them after the siding was complete. This is very common.

Demolition charges - G. Fedale had 3 separate crews there of 3 or more workers. G. Fedale workers were on site and offsite working for this project for well over 24 hours. The customer might be thinking that the group of guys wasn't onsite for 24 hours. For clarification; the insurance company is talking about total amount of man hours. So if there is one worker on-site for 4 hours that equals 4 hours. It there are 2 worker on-site for 4-hours that equals 8 hours. Regardless of the time G. Fedale spent on-site this is the number that the insurance company and G. Fedale agreed on and they are still going to pay it in relation to the work.

Roofing concerns - In the insurance companies original report there was not coverage on full roof facets/sections. It wasn't until after G. Fedale met the adjuster on-site, when they offered to replace a facet of roofing, the ridge caps, a few shingles here and there and the chimney flashing. G. Fedale also noted to the insurance adjuster other items that they missed. The customer's insurance company only covered for the specified portion of the roof because it showed a significant amount of damage more then the rest. If the customer wants to replace the rest of the roof we would need to provide an estimate for those additional services that don't relate to the insurance adjuster's report.

Other concerns - Damaged siding, trampled gardens, grass issue - As discussed before G. Fedale is more than willing to provide you with services to correct these issues.

G. Fedale's offer to move forward-

1. Remove the cost for the chimney flashing that was done. We will also notify your insurance company about this. -$298.42

2. Demolition charges - Reduce the demolition charges to 20 hours. Estimated 4 hours would of been accounted to demo the damaged fence. We will notify the insurance company of this as well. -$151.92

3. Remove the cost of the disputed downspouts included in the adjuster report. -$109.00

4. Offer and inspection and services to fix damaged siding, trampled garden, and grass issue once balance agreement is made.

5. Offer to meet insurance adjuster onsite to review everything that was completed in relation to his report.

6. Offer a free roof estimate on remaining areas of roofing that customer has concerns about. (it is not our recommendation that this is needed but can be done upon your request)

Amount Due: $2660.23

Total adjustments offered above - $559.34

New Balance: $2100.89

Response:

I was treated horrible by this company and wasted over a month of my time waiting for them to come do my roof. Was sent a proposal on 8/16/15 from [redacted]i quoting $4250 to replace a roof on a 28x56 doublewide. Roof was to be a metal roof . Was given other quotes not that far from his quote. His was $700 less than one other , so I signed the papers sent back next day . Thought everything was going ok, was emailed a couple times from lady in office that I was on schedule to have roof done 1st week of October . Then was left a message on 9/17/15 from [redacted]i, who is the man who came out to the house and did my quote and that I have been corresponding with- that he made a big mistake, roof should have been quoted at $22,000, he felt horrible so he would do it for $18,900 but he understood if I never wanted to call him again?? WTH? I did call him later that day after work. He told me he had quoted me on the wrong material which was the 2nd time he had done this . When he first called, he quoted me 2300 to 2400 for shingle roof stating our roof was a piece of cake-nothing to it. Then I told him I wanted a metal roof not shingle . He sent me pictures of a metal roof , asking is this the kind you want? . I said yes that's it exactly . Then he sent me a color chart and picked the color I wanted. (So how do you order wrong material ?) He then stated for the quote he gave me, that it wouldn't even be enough to do a shingle roof on my house . (Shingle roof would be around $5000.) I reminded him he quoted me 2300 for that. He said he must have pushed the wong numbers on his calculator. I feel like our whole converstion yesterday was nothing but lies! Really hope this gets looked into by Revdex.com so no one else has to get treated like I was treated .

Review: I purchased vinyl siding from this company and the siding on the back of my house is not correct. It has buckled it some spots, it's just not correct. The company has been out about 3 times to correct the problem but this last attempt to correct the problem has the siding looking worse.

Approximately 2 months ago I spoke to their Service Director, [redacted]. I called him after the last attempt to fix my siding and asked if he looked at the "fix". He said he did not. I told him I want him to look at it and tell me if he would be satisfied with the siding repair if it was his house. He said he believed our siding was discontinued but woould check and get back to me in a few days. I have not heard back from Mr. [redacted] or anyone else from the company. I left a message Friday evening (9/18 6:30 pm) that I wanted a call back Monday morning or I was contacting a lawyer. I left my cell # on the message. Monday came and went, no return phone call. I had my cell phone next to me all day at work. I also called Mr. [redacted]'s cell but had to leave a message. Still, no return call.Desired Settlement: I want my siding repaired properly while still under warranty.
