Hi, Attached are two documents: GMM bid 2-5-16, which is the original written bid *** *** provided for the retaining wall project at my home The copy quality is poor, because I only have a carbon copy from which to scan I tried to darken it so that it's more legible, and I think you will be able to read it ok Please let me know if you can't The second, GMM statement 3-22-16, is the final bill Greg sent me after the walls and driveway had been finished He TOLD me, but didn't put it in writing, that he wanted about 12-inches of soil to settle into the tops of the block before putting the 4" caps on top Now he is disputing that, because I disputed the $charge he tacked onto the final statement for cave-ins that happened because of weather I had no control over the weather, nor did he, but I believe he could have better planned his work and protected the site to prevent the cave-ins from happening I want to reiterate that *** *** ALWAYS implied that the caps that go on top of the walls were part of the wall During all of our communications through this project, he never said anything about the caps being extra I have spoken with several professional contractors about this project, and all of them say the same thing - they agree with me - the caps are part of the wall, and not extra One contractor likened it to putting up drywall, and charging extra for the tape and mudding of the drywall - you just don't do that. I am glad [redacted] answered my complaint to the Revdex.com in the way he did.  His response is the same way he talked to me when explaining the wall-building project.  His response shows how he rambles on about many topics that have no bearing on my project, and much of his response is simply not true.  I choose not to engage in a he-said/she-said war of words.  The fact of the matter stands . . . I contracted [redacted] to build retaining walls on either side of my driveway, and as of this date, the walls are unfinished.  I have paid [redacted] $19,540. for a job he originally quoted to be $7,700.  No matter how Greg tries to finagle around it, the four-inch caps that I’m still awaiting are part of the wall.  The caps were never listed on the estimate as “extras”; it was assumed that the caps were part of the walls. The way he’s handled this job, [redacted] has proven that he employs sub-standard business practices.  At this point, I don’t trust that he will properly install the caps, and I really don’t want to deal with him further.  My understanding of the money I paid to him included the price of the installation of the caps, so I would like to be paid restitution for the caps I never received, but paid for.  The block used in my walls was Diamond Pro Beveled Rock Blend Color, and there is roughly sixty feet of wall.
