Good luck trying to speak with someone after prompted for multiple options that never seem to end Also, no one seems to have knowledge about product questions After reading the reviews for the cancellation process, I'm not looking forward to that either

I disputed inaccurate information with all three bureaus and sent documents to prove that the information was incorrectWhen this company supposedly investigated the information, the results were that the creditor verified the information reportedI contacted the creditor and was informed that Equifax has been notified of the correction but had not updated The creditor was being truthful because Transunion and Experian had been updatedIt took Equifax two months to update and it was only updated because I submitted a complaint to the Consumers Financial Bureau and forwarded the same documents to them, which was a payment in full receipt and a letter from the creditor stating that the account was paid in full and reported to EquifaxSomething need to be done to make sure that Equifax is reporting account information and updating in a timely matterYou say the consumer has rights! Show us that we do!

I called to place a security freeze on my accountThis was the first time I ever needed to do soThe customer service representative fooled me into thinking that security freezes cost money, when it turns out what she was charging me for was a product they sell for fraud alert instead of the security freezeA few months later, I was ready to remove the freeze so I called again, and they informed me that I didn't have a freeze at allI was completely vulnerableSo I asked to cancel the fraud alert and asked for a refund of the money I had paid for a product I didn't even want, thinking it was a security freezeThey were EXTREMELY rude and smart alec with meAfter about an hour or more on the phone and going around and around with them, they told me they cancelled the fraud alert and that I would not pay any more payments, and they would investigate as to whether they could reimburse my paymentsThey said I would hear from them regarding that, which I never didIn addition, I saw a new charge from them on my account yesterdayThis business should not be accredited, based on hoe they have handled the situation with meI will NEVER do business with them ever againThe biggest problem I had with them was their rude customer service membersO sooke with several because none of them seemed to know how to help me cancel the fraud alertThey were all rudeOne guy in particularI wish I remembered his nameAnyway, I will never do business with them again

I called to cancel my credit monitoring and they did cancel itHowever they charged me for another since it was due on the date I cancelled and they issue no refundsI want a refund for $for the services not rendered

I can't create my own Social Security account because Equifax is withholding my information from Social SecurityIf a person cannot create his own account, that is really bad

Website is extremely slowYou cannot cancel online
Customer service is either stupid and/or incredibly manipulative They will keep you on the line for well over mins to keep you from canceling or you will be transferred and droppedThey will speak in a low voice with a thick accent mumbling and babbling on and on about something you can't understandThen they will do a security freeze that lasts for months or until you fax them the paperwork to unfreeze itWhich they lose
Worthless companyWorthless customer serviceWorthless CEOPure garbage

I would like to share my experience with Equifax. I recently filed a dispute concerning an inquiry from [redacted]. I was not aware that when you choose value pay that the company would do a credit check. I disputed the inquiry and Equifax told me to fax over my social security card and driver's license, so that I could view the result of my dispute. The last name on my credit file did not match my present name. My husband told me not to fax them anything, because the company obtained my credit report using my now married name. Equifax did not have any problem releasing my credit report, even thou the names did not match and they should release the results of the dispute as well. I explained this to the customer service agent at Equifax, he put me on hold and said he would speak with his supervisor about updating my last name over the phone. Wow! Unbelievable now that they realize that that the company used my present last name and not the name on file to pull my report, they want to cover their mistake without me faxing any documents to them. The customer service agent put in the request and now my last name has been changed over the phone. This is why we have identity theft in this country because we allow companies to abuse the credit system with random names and a matching address to obtain credit and open accounts. Please be advised your social security number is no longer a requirement for obtaining credit, we all should be scared. The very people who sell us these monitoring systems are the reason why fraud is possible on our accounts.

I had a very similar experience. Equifax charged my checking account $19.95 for some type of service. I called to dispute this charge and the representative told me that he could escalate it to the next level and would not refund the money they charged my account. I asked for documentation giving them the right to charge my account and they said the same thing, it had been escalated to the next level. I could call back in 7-10 working days to "get my answer". If I wanted to dispute the charge I was told to call my banking institution. Which I did, but they would of had to cancel my account and open a new one and that would of been a nightmare, so I called Equifax again requesting all the same info over again. Received all the same answers with no resolution!!! Thieves..

This company assigns it's own computer programing to determine your credit score. 35% is rated on your credit card history apparently but I am thinking that they have several flaws in such a program. 11% of my reporting agencies stated I missed 2 payments. This was $130 dollars and interest. This was FULLY paid off. Now, it dropped my credit rating from some 800 to 643. Really? And this stays on your file for SIX years. Why is that? Who legislated that. Well, only if you claim bankruptcy is it required to stay on file for 6 years. So, they are the agency that decides your financial fate arbitrarily by keeping anything negative on your report for 6 years. Truly this is biased, and punitive, unethical , and unwarranted.

Equifax has my husbands's social security number associated with another individual's name and information. They are saying it normally takes 30 days to investigate this type situation. I realize the seriousness and agree with a thorough investigation. Surely there is a faster way to verify my husband's social security and credit as we have been totally debt free for years. My opinion will depend on actual time. I will write more lately.

I had my credit frozen because my credit card and bank account have been stolen and frauded before. Recently, I have tried to remove the security freeze in order to lock in a refinance rate for my house. I paid the $10 unfreeze fee a while ago, and even received a letter dated Oct. 27, 2016 saying my request of permanently removed the security freeze is processed. However, my mortgage agent still can't get my mortgage rate locked due to Equifax still holding my credit frozen. I spent two hours talking to their rep., which are all in Philippine, and knows every bit of my personal security information, SSN, DOB, address, and all my credit cards, current statements, credit lines, mortgage banks and payments. They wouldn't answer my questions until I gave all my credit card information to them. Finally they told me that the freeze was removed and added on the same day. That is ridiculous! Why I pay $10 to freeze and unfreeze it at the same time? They want to charge me another fee to unfreeze my credit! My mortgage agent has been waited for my credit to lock in a good rate, but this company hires rep's overseas, play these games just for another $10! This company is already involved in fraudulent activity. The lost opportunity of locking in a lower mortgage rate will be their responsibility, and they have to pay for it.

Equifax is a scam. They refused to provide me with an on-line copy of my credit report today and instructed me to complete a paper application to receive a copy of my credit report that the other 2 national companies gladly provided on-line. Further, Equifax has no published consumer phone number. They make it impossible for someone to receive information without going to extremes, I would rate them with a score of F-.

I am attempting to dispute an incorrect foreclosure on my credit report. I have spoken with the mortgage company who advised me that each credit bureau has the ability to remove an item from a credit report, independent of the creditor. I sent all the supporting documents to each credit bureau and TransUnion removed the item from my report. Equifax sent me a response before they were able to review my 22 pages of supporting documents. I called to discuss the situation with them and after 2 hours on the phone and 4 supervisors up the ladder later, I was hung up on. I was asking "Dea" who would review my documents and she continuously told me that the process was automated. I asked how could a computer read and review my documents and she kept telling me it was computerized. I asked if I could speak to the person who would review my documents and she said if there was nothing further she was ending the call. I tried to say there was something further, but she hung up. That was after 2 hours of trying to get a resolution - all wasted because she hung up. I called back and asked to speak with "Dea" directly. I was asked to hold briefly and after 45 minutes of holding and no one picking back up to give me an update, I hung up. I called a third time and explained my situation for the 6th time, asking to speak with whoever would review my documents. I was told that the "mailing department" was responsible for that and I could not speak with them - they did not have an extension. I asked if I could leave a phone number to have the person reviewing my documents call me to discuss the review - they do not have phones. Unreal. I asked why [redacted] found my supporting evidence to be enough to remove this item from my report but Equifax hasn't. They had no answer except they had different policies. These "policies" they are speaking of include having someone's name incorrect for 9 years and address incorrect for 2.5. I asked them to update both an they only updated my address. They state it was my fault because I should've notified them. Why didn't I have to notify the other two bureaus? They had no answer except to say that my creditors should've update them and clearly they have the information wrong as well. That's incorrect as well because they send my bills to the correct name and address each and every month... Equifax needs a system overhaul. This is the only negative thing on my credit report. If it was not a mistake, why would I waste so much of my time trying to have it removed? I will file disputes until the day it comes off. I won't take no for an answer.

The phones are definitely outsourced to India! I spent days trying to unfreeze my credit-- told it would 5.00$ -- got charged 2times-- than an told in order to get the other 5 back !!! I have to send them ids, billing statement!! This agency is for the birds!

Upon requesting a free credit report from Equifax, I was asked a security question about an important financial transaction of a type I had never had, and for which the only correct answer was "none of the above." I was then locked out of the online process. Equifax required me to send ID docs in the mail (risky) to get the report -- which I did, and the report showed no trace of the nonexistent financial transaction.

Some quick googling revealed a number of similar experiences. We all worried that we had been the victims of major ID theft. One person signed up for a $35 service with Equifax and wondered if the misleading security questions were a shady marketing scheme. Another thought Equifax was trying to make it harder for us to request free reports.

Whatever Equifax is doing, it is not good, but it is also probably legal, so there's no point filing a complaint. Just letting you know, if this happens to you, you're not alone and your data is probably OK.

I had been with Equifax since January. Signed up for text alerts. Stopped receiving text alerts without notice, Decided to cancel and go with another monitoring agency that offered more protection for just about the same price. The cancellation process is horrible and they should consider giving refunds. Was obligated in paying the months fee without wanting their services anymore and it was the beginning of the month, was charged without prior authorization, and was given no option for refund, instead was forced into the new month. Supervisor just offered me another deal to charge me less a month when I no longer wanted their services. Issue unresolved and I don't have the patience to deal with them. I would suggest to go elsewhere for anyone considering their services.
