We are not responsible for the emergency water main break that occurred at *** ** *** *** located in *** ** *** that resulted in a section of the newly installed driveway needing to be repaired and replacedA water main is an
underground pipe that delivers water to the customer's service pipeIn residential areas it usually runs under the streetIf a hole or crack develops in the pipe, the water will typically find its way to the surfaceBecause the water main is under pressure, water will continue to flow until the break is repairedWe had no idea that it ran under the driveway instead of near or under the roadThat goes with any drivewayUnless a home owner lets us know ahead of time there may be a problem with the existing main, there is no way of knowing for sureEspecially since they usually run 4-foot deep and we were no where near that depth when we installed the new driveway for the homeowner in May of June 9th, is the first phone call we received with questions about the drivewayWe believe the water main was fixed around the 24th of JuneWe were asked to "make good" on the driveway which was not our fault to begin withWe have no problem going back to help out a customer for a wheel barrow load or small areas but this was bigger than a small wheel barrow worth of patching and took time, labor and materials out of the designated place of work for that time periodThe signed contract states that "any alteration or deviation from above specifications involving extra costs will be executed only upon written orders, and will become extra charge over and above the estimate." Unfortunately for the homeowner, this coincidentally happened, we are not at fault, and we have no choice but to chargeEspecially months after the driveway was repaired and payment way madeOn a side note, we completed the original work with additional square footage being added and ONLY charged for materials to begin withWe did not even include labor or equipmentSo we never have nor ever will try to take advantage of a customerBut we also have to be mindful of overhead costsWe apologize for your inconvenience but will not be making any billing adjustmentsThank you

pipe. In residential areas it usually runs under the street. If a hole or crack develops in the pipe, the water will typically find its way to the surface. Because the water main is under pressure, water will continue to flow until the break is repaired. We had no idea that it ran under the driveway instead of near or under the road. That goes with any driveway. Unless a home owner lets us know ahead of time there may be a problem with the existing main, there is no way of knowing for sure. Especially since they usually run 4-5 foot deep and we were no where near that depth when we installed the new driveway for the homeowner in May of 2016. June 9th, 2016 is the first phone call we received with questions about the driveway. We believe the water main was fixed around the 24th of June. We were asked to "make good" on the driveway which was not our fault to begin with. We have no problem going back to help out a customer for a wheel barrow load or small areas but this was bigger than a small wheel barrow worth of patching and took time, labor and materials out of the designated place of work for that time period. The signed contract states that "any alteration or deviation from above specifications involving extra costs will be executed only upon written orders, and will become extra charge over and above the estimate." Unfortunately for the homeowner, this coincidentally happened, we are not at fault, and we have no choice but to charge. Especially 3 months after the driveway was repaired and payment way made. On a side note, we completed the original work with additional square footage being added and ONLY charged for materials to begin with. We did not even include labor or equipment. So we never have nor ever will try to take advantage of a customer. But we also have to be mindful of overhead costs. We apologize for your inconvenience but will not be making any billing adjustments. Thank you.
