Review: I purchased a Sharp TV from this company for 1,699.99 on November [redacted] 2012. The company told me they were selling me a NEW 60" Sharp TV After 6 months the TV failed and when I called Sharp, Sharp told me that it was a refurbished TV and they could not provide any help, but to call the seller. I have left over 8 messages for Gadget Ave to get some help without any return phone calls.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of my money for this purchase. The seller to pay return shipping if they would like the merchandise back.

Sincerely,

Review: I am writing the Revdex.com after dealing with an issue regarding purchase of a new TV from gadgetave.com AKA TheTVMegaStore.com… After extensive research into a new television, I decided on and ordered a new Sharp LC-60LE832U TV on 1/19/ 2012 from TheTVMegaStore.com and paid a total of $1,629 – this was charged to my VISA card. Later that same day, I received a phone call from TheTVMegaStore.com, confirming my order and was asked whether I was aware this was a discontinued model and because of this, the manufacturer’s standard one year warranty would be limited to just 90 days. I was not aware of this and asked whether there was a newer model available. I was told about Sharp’s latest (similar) model, the LC-60LE832UNCDCI that retailed at $2499 but currently with a $500 price reduction. With the vast array of research websites and discriminating reviews for every TV on the market, I asked about the rating for this model and was told it was rated #1 by Consumer Reports. I opted for the latest model and gave my consent to upgrade my order to the Sharp model LC-60LE832UNDCDI with my credit card to be charged the additional $270.99. I received a confirmation Email with proof of my upgraded purchase but instead of being charged the expected additional $270.99, also included was another $88.63 labeled as “Handling and Insurance.” There was no Handling and Insurance charge with my original purchase and was not informed in advance of this additional charge. So the total charge for my upgrade was $359.62. It took a couple days, but I set out to do a bit of research on this Sharp model LC-60LE832UNDCDI… You know, anything can be found online yet the only information available on this TV was via TheTVMegaStore.com. [redacted] is well known and highly renowned for their reviews of virtually every piece of electronics gear on the market yet there was no information on the Sharp LC-60LE832UNDCDI to be found – all indications were this model did not exist. I then did a Google search on gadgetave.com as well as TheTVMegaStore.com and saw similar complaints of others who received post purchase calls about discontinued models they had ordered, limited warranties and available upgrades – the same exact scenario as mine. I ended up contacting SharpUSA about the TV I ordered – they confirmed the model LC-60LE832U I initially ordered was NOT a discontinued model and they had no knowledge of a model LC-60LE832UNDCDI. I was informed this would tend to indicate a non-factory, after market revision but there was no way they could confirm this. My TV arrived on 2/*/ 2012 - the manufacturer label on the TV stated it was a model LC-60LE832U however there was a stamp on the box it arrived in stating “CDCI. “ I am not a rich man and in fact, I recently lost my job – this was an extravagant purchase where I had to dig deep for the initial $1629 for my new TV, but hearing this was a discontinued model and the typical one year warranty was now just 90 days, there was obviously a problem moving forward with that model. Then in addition to the added $270.99, I was gouged another $88.63 that was not initially charged to cover handling and insurance. ALTHOUGH THIS TV WAS PURCHASED FROM THETVMEGASTORE, THE CHARGE ON MY CREDIT CARD INDICATED THAT I HAD PAID GADGETAVE.COM. A dishonest business is a major pet peeve of mine and with the bald face lies I was told, I doubt most everything about this purchase right now. All that being said, I would have NEVER opted for the “upgraded” model if this company had been truthful with me. Adding insult to injury, I was sold a refurbished TV as if it were new and the only way I found out about it was when my TV failed to power up on 04/*/ 2013. I contacted the business on 04/* and took several phone calls before they arranged for a technician onsite 04/**/ 2013. The technician determined this was a backlight failure and beyond his ability to repair. His instructions were to arrange for a replacement TV and mine would be returned to the factory. On 4/**/ 2013, Sharp called to tell me they would be sending me a refurbished TV to replace mine – this was the first indicator that I was NOT sold a new TV at the outset. I called the business that same day to complain and wanted my money refunded. On 4/**/ 2013, I called the business and spoke to [redacted]. Per his instructions, I was to call Sharp, order a NEW replacement TV and the business would cover the cost difference. I did that and was then told lie after lie after lie how they had a check in the mail to me to cover the cost difference – the check never arrived because it was never sent. From the time I was told to order a new TV from sharp on 4/** until 5/**, I called the business 61 times and was not reimbursed the $345 they owe me. I have stacks and stacks of documentation and would be happy to provide this per your request.Desired Settlement: The business PROMISED me a reimbursement of $345 to cover the cost of a replacement TV that was only necessary because they used deceptive business practices when selling me a refurbished TV as new.

The business has not responded to my complaint and really doesn’t surprise me. I sincerely hope anyone considering placing an order with this business will see my complaint to heed my warning. Thetvmegastore.com and gadgetave.com make a practice of selling refurbished electronics as if they were new. This fact is rarely discovered by the customer but it is a fact. If you have already purchased a TV or other piece of equipment from this business, I urge you to call the manufacturer – Sharp or Samsung or whoever that is and provide them with your serial number. They will then be able to confirm what is stated in this complaint.

I have no respect for a dishonest business. Thetvmegastore.com and gadgetave.com have a pattern of lies, and unfulfilled promises to try and convince you they will take care of you as a customer. Don’t believe them. Do your research as there are many complaints online similar to my own – some have lost thousands of dollars dealing with these people.

Sincerely,

Review: On April **, 2013, I ordered a televesion from gadget avenue. It arrived with concealed damage (cracked screen) which I immediately reported to the company. The damage was not easily seen, as it was a hairline fracture, so even though I inspected the television, I did not notice it until I actually completely unboxed the TV and plugged it in. Gadget Avenue employee ([redacted] - but questioning if he gave his real name) seemed responsive, and told me they would send out a new television and upon receipt, I would then send back the defective TV. To date, I have received no television. I have made countless calls (literally more than once per day), and have had promise after promise that the TV has actually been shipped, but daily calls to get the tracking number fall flat, with blame being placed on a third party. Recent promises made were: "product has shipped, BOL number is [redacted]" on 7/**/13; " if product doesn't ship Monday, I'll give you your money back and ship from my own stock" (7/**/2013). "Product has shipped from our warehouse, so it positively shipped" (7/**/2013). Keep in mind these are excerpts and I've had countless promises made, and no delivery. In the past week, they've undergone some system changes, which now have my more than daily calls kicked to a voice mail box. I'm definitely at my wits end, and would like satisfaction. I've obviously been very, very patient since this has been going on for 3 solid months. Also, after reviewing the model number that was originally shipped, I'm learning it's not even the model I ordered. I was upsold to a 480 Hz model, and the model shipped was really only a 240 Hz model. I just figured this out by going through this complaint process.Desired Settlement: Given the extremely unreasonable delay, and delay tactics used. I no longer want the product television shipped, but would like a full refund.

Review: I bought a TV from Gadget Ave 9mo ago. Less than 3mo of owning the TV I stated to have some problems with the TV and needed some service on it. So I called Gadget Ave and they told me to call Sharp to set up a service call. I called Sharp and they told me my warrenty was vioded because Gadget Ave buys TVs on closeout and then resells them as new to the customer. So at that point I called them back and asked what's up and [redacted] told me he would replace the TV. I figured that was ok and he said he would send a new one out. The TV didnt show up. So I called back and talked to [redacted], [redacted], [redacted] and got no where. I finally got a hold of [redacted] again and he told me it was going to be cheaper for him to give me a refund than it was to resend a new TV and have me send the old one back to him. That was 4 mo ago and I talk to them two or three times a week and they tell me the check is in the mail.Desired Settlement: Just would like this resolved. Thanks S.I.

Review: On March **, 2013, we purchased a Sharp Aquos 80 inch 3D LED television, along with a 3D blu ray player, 2 HDMI cables, and an extended warranty plan from [redacted] When we had someone come to hook up the equipment, he found one of the HDMI cables was not working and was afraid to use the second one as it was from the same manufacturer. He didn't want us to have issues down the road and went out and purchased 2 new cables in order to complete set up. I contacted the company explaining what has happened and requested a RA number to return items for a refund. Each call was a run around, with call back next week, or after the holiday, to he refunded it to my card, but never did. After many many attempts to get this straightened out I had to contact my credit card company to put a stop on that amount. In that process I also realized we received no extended warranty paperwork and informed my credit card company in writing that this may be an issue as well. I contacted the company and specifically asked for response in writing via email do it would be documented. They decided to call and again I explained I would not talk to him via phone and needed it in writing. He then decided to contact my husband who also told him after the issues we had to just email the information. I have them in my contact list to avoid it ending up in the junk box, but nothing came. As luck would have it the tv stopped working and once again called for warranty information, then emailed as well, and still nothing. We currently have this repair being taken care of by sharp but have serious concerns once the year is up. This was not a cheap TV nor was the extended plan.

If the company can not furnish a full complete, valid extended warranty that we were sold, then I request a complete refund of entire purchase. If warranty is not produced then I will also be reporting the entire sale as fraudulent and misleading to my credit card company.Desired Settlement: Full extended warranty paperwork sent out.
