Gage Marine Corporation

Review: In 2010, I purchased a lift from Gage Marine. I was told that the lift was new and paid ~12,000 for it. This past week, an employee of Gage contacted me to tell me that the lift needed a $2400+ repair, and when I expressed surprise that the lift had issues (I've used it fewer than 10 times since purchased) was told that the lift was made in 1995-2000. Gage's employee later revised their estimate to say that the lift was made in 2006. In investigating the matter, I learned that the lift (a Hewitt 8000#) had in fact only cost ~$9,000 new at the time I bought my lift. So, I was charged roughly a $3,000 premium over new for an item that was in fact was significantly used and worth several thousand dollars less than I paid (I estimate it at around $8,000). Gage Marine knew that I was new to the community and had no experience in such purchases. I have repeatedly asked for an explanation since finding this out, and none has been forthcoming.Desired Settlement: Refund of $8,000 plus repair and an apology

I am writing with respect to Complaint ID [redacted]. I have spoken with the business, and they have agreed to repair the product that was the subject of the complaint. Conditioned on their following through with the repair, which I believe they will do, I am withdrawing the complaint.
