I called Mr. [redacted] upon receiving your letter and arranged to inspect the garage door. He was not athome when I arrived at the scheduled day and time. My finding was that one of the four panels onthe 8 x 8 garage door had a paint or finish that looked to be oxidized but no flaking. The garage doorshould be repainted.
The company who supplied and installed the door was [redacted] which was purchasedby [redacted]. Their office is located in the Poway business park and can be contactedat ###-###-####. Dear Ms. [redacted],
I am replying to the response received on complaint no. ID [redacted].
In the original complaint, the consumer states that the garage door is vinyl and cannot be painted.In researching the file for his construction project, the garage door records state they are insulatedsteel doors. I replied that they can be painted and suggested this remedy.
The consumer does not want the door painted and asks the door panel to be replaced. As noted inearlier correspondence, the manufacturer is no longer in business.
The consumer states that it has been known since 2006 that the door had a discoloration issue andthat he has called several times. I have not received anything in writing and have not receivedphone calls regarding the garage door. The phone calls I did receive for warranty work were forother items that were taken care of promptly.
