Gaithersburg Plumbing Pros

We called this company for a refrigerator cutoff valve request (delivery would not install without a new one being put in). On the phone, Christopher stated the charges were $175 for the service call, and cost+labor. A valve costs roughly five dollars, and the work took 15 minutes. Final total for the service was $499 PLUS the appointment fee, which was not what was discussed (the way it was negotiated on phone, he made it seem the 175 would be subsumed into the cost of the project, which is what competitors do, like Gaithersburg Plumbing, our previous plumber option). By rights, this job should have cost $250-300, not $600 for a $5 valve and 15 minutes of work. The vendor would not budge on the final cost once we saw the charges on our card.

I called Gaithersburg Plumbing Pros for a plumbing service and was never given an estimate over the phone. The technician got to my house and looked at the issue and I asked him for an estimate he informed me that he let me know if the issue is fixable first and an estimate before he starts. Less than 30 minutes later he called me and said the issue is resolved and he stated a he had to tightened a loose knob or cartridge (not sure exactly) and that was the fix. I asked him for a bill and he said, his boss will call me.

His boss called me and said the bill was $200. I told first, you or your technician never gave me an estimate to start with and now charging me a $200 for a job with no parts involved (just labor) for under 30 minutes. I should've known before you start so I can make a decision whether I'll choose your service or not. This practice is deceitful and should be stopped.
