Galaxy Lifts

I have to warn people NOT to buy a Galaxy lift. 18 months after installation I discovered that the the lift cables were jury-rigged in an unsafe manner and Galaxy refuses to fix the problem. The cables are several inches too long and the team didn’t have the tools cut them to the correct length so they stacked thick washers on the eye bolts under the frame to extend the adjustment length so the cables could be tensioned. We discovered this when the cables stretched and we contacted Galaxy tech support for help. Whole following their instructions I discovered the stack of washers and there was no way to add tension. Tech support asked for photos and determined that the cables were too long. They said the washers shouldn’t have been there and the team probably didn’t have the tools to swage the cables on-site. The tech put in a service order to repair the lift, then Galaxy sent me an invoice for $565.91 and demanded payment before they would do the repair. Then they accused me of replacing the hardware, as if I would somehow benefit from it. After I pointed out how ridiculous that sounded they said someone else might have done it without my knowledge-even more ridiculous. Then they said I failed to register my lift so there was no warranty. I emailed them the confirmation email proving that I did register the warranty. Then they told me it was out of warranty, which I disputed since there is a 5-year structural warranty. After 2 weeks Galaxy tech support and sales won’t return my emails nor phone calls.
There is no way I would have known how to inspect or certify that the job was done correctly. The jury-rigged parts are hidden from plain sight. I relied on the reputation of the company as communicated to me by our building contractor, and the advertised warranty. What a mistake! I wish we would have gone with another lift with a company that actually stands behind their product. Buyer beware!
