[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response If you wish, you may update it before sending it.] Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved Regards, [redacted]

The university has reviewed Ms [redacted] 's concerns and encourages her to speak with her advisor to discuss her options for finishing her degreeMeetings with the School of Social Work official will be facilitated by the advisor as needed

I have been attending Brandman University since Summer I was assigned an advisor, Ms [redacted] since my admissionsDuring my admission and my advisor informed me that she will be giving me the Military Tuition Rate as it was applicable and it applied to meI lived on Joint Base [redacted] and with my active duty husbandI had no reason to believe that it was not applied to my student account or nothing to compare it to, in the event that it was not appliedOn Dec2016, Ms [redacted] was fired for messing up many military students’ accounts and education plans at the Joint-Base [redacted] campusSince Dec2016, I have tiresomely reached out to many administrative staff and other advisors from other campuses asking for help and advisementI was in the dark about my advancementsWhen spontaneously a professor told me that I will get an email from someone at the JBLM campus, I didn’t even then, but he told me approximately when and where it would beI guessed without any chance to study because I didn’t know advancements when advancements will be exactly, but it was an imperative aspect for practicum to beginDuring advancements, professors apologized for the lack of information that I received and informed me “off the record Ms [redacted] was fired because she wasn’t doing her job well and messing up student accounts”As my practicum progressed, I assumed I was up for graduation soon as Ms [redacted] advised me that practicums are my last classes before graduationExcept for I had no information or communication with the Brandman staff about absolutely anythingI had no idea about graduation requirements, I was completely in the dark about everything and didn’t know what to do nextI was in the dark for a little over months without any response from anyone at Brandman regardless of my attempts in person and via email Without any success and upon graduation, I browsed their website continuously trying to find anything on graduation requirementsINSTEAD, I found that I had been paying a much higher TUITION rate, where I was OVERCHARGED $additional for each and every classAfter taking classes and being overcharged in TUITION, Brandman University overcharged me an additional $13,They gave me $1,620, which covers classes, but they still owe me $12,270.00, for the remaining classes Once I figured this out, I immediately went to the Lacey campus and informed the advisor there of what I have learnedNot only did the advisors and staff in the Lacey campus confirm me of Ms [redacted] inability to help over 100’s of students in the JBLM campus, but they told me that any refunds given will amount to me owing the Deptof Education even more and it would have to paid up-frontOf course, that didn’t make sense to meAfter them attempting to explain it to me, it made absolutely no senseAdvisors were getting students to decline any refunds requested by stating that it would be easier and students would owe less if their accounts were left as it isThat did not work for me and toward the end I was told “that they will do everything they can to help me my student account and education plan”Additionally, she told me that I do not graduate because I still have another class to take“WHAT!” There was no other way to respond to thatNot only am I not able to pay for this class because I am currently working for free at my practicum site and I used financial aid which will not just pay for one more extra classFinancial aid will assist when you are taking two or more classes By this point, I have experienced severe distress, restlessness, sleep disturbances, and anxiety all due to Brandman UniversityFinally, [redacted] Hill, the campus director called me and informed that she will discuss this with several people and that she would advocate for meAt one time, they I was offered a little over $8,000.00, but that if I took this amount, I would owe and have to pay back the Deptof Education an additional $13,that has to be paid upfrontThat of course, didn’t make sense to meWhen I asked her to please explain that to me, she was unable to explain and said someone will be calling me to answer all my questionsI called the Deptof Education to confirm any all information regarding refunds and overpayment/overcharging from BU, and the deptof Education told me that my school just needs to refund me the difference and nothing on their end should or will change as far as my student loan accountWeeks went by, when she called me back and said that the head of Brandman University is declining any refunds or offers because “IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP TRACK OF MY OWN ACCOUNT”I was unsure how this was ALL my fault and she said, “it’s not your fault, but there is nothing else that I can do for you”Like I told the campus director, “I am not responsible for my billing of tuition accounts and I didn’t know that I wasn’t being charged correctly and when If I did I had nothing to compare it toI found out because advisors and other staff were informing me of this occurrence and when I brought it up, it suddenly became my responsibility”That just doesn’t sit wellAlso, the advisor [redacted] , was fired for doing the exact thing I am complaining about, so why can’t Brandman take responsibility for the actions of their staff when she was on board with their team? WHY are they refusing to take accountability? At the end, I didn’t speak with the multiple people that I was told would call meI only spoke with her and she decided to speak on their behalfBrandman University declined to be there for their student, did not help or guide there student in the right direction as promised, rejected to do the right thing when they had the opportunity, and disregarded their student when clearly she was reaching out for assistance and helpI did owe so much on student loans because of the overcharge in Tuition, $12,worthBrandman understood their default and reimbursed me for classes $, but when they realized their default for a whole years In Tuition, it became too much money to pay back, but I GUESS IT’S OKAY FOR THE STUDENT TO PAY IT BACK, BECAUSE THEY PRESSUME IT WAS MY FAULTI have worked really hard for this degree and for me to be treated and disregarded in this manner is unacceptable and unprofessional I am requesting a refund for difference of overpayment of Tuition

Since the student did not receive the denial letter, he should be provided with an exception and allowed to file a grade petition with the Provost - the deadline is extended until April 16, The student should contact advisor [redacted] at 949-341- [redacted] or at [redacted] @brandman.edu to facilitate the grade petition. In addition, the student is encouraged to file financial petition through his advisor to address his two withdrawn classes in Summer based on his attendance in these classes

[This is a fundamental error on behalf of Brandman UniversityI, the student, did not cause this glitch or error that led to my student account being overcharged over $13,Brandman University failed to fulfill their ethical, legal, and moral obligation to their student leaving the student with an additional debt of over $13,000.00.]

succinctly outlines the reasons for the grades and provides justification for the plagiarism issue

When I contacted the Deptof Ed., I was told that BU is not giving me all the information and that I would not have to pay back an extra $13,as Brandman University has determined my financial status before hand and reported that to the Deptof EdWhen I informed the director *** of
that information, BU withdrew the offer of the refund for $8,and told me that they are sticking with policy, which states it is my responsibility to correct any mistakes on my accountHOWEVER, like I have said, I had nothing to compare it to and I was promised by my advisor *** that I was getting the Military Tuition RateBU is not taking any responsibility for messing up student accountI was told that the policy states refunds do not have to be given to "grants, loans, scholarship, or adjustments", but I was NEVER given the policy at the time of admissions or any time after that and it also doesn't state that BU will not correct TUITION Rates when they OVERCHARGE a student. Additionally, My advisor *** told me I would graduate in May When she was fired, I had not communication from any anyone and I left in the darkI had no information on Advancements, Practicum classes, and commencementThe more I reached out the less I heard backAfter months, an advisor told me that I will not be graduating because there is one more class I need, of which I was told at the very last minuteBU has ruined my education goals as I was already writing my application for a post-graduate degree programAdditionally, I have no way in paying this sporadic class that I need to take and if they drop me from the class because of non-payment I cannot graduateI am unable to get financial aid for just one classBU has caused me a lot of distress and anxiety and is messing with my career and educational goalsBU is not taking any responsibility for my distress, my education plan, or my financial student account

I found it funny that this letter had been attached to their responseThat is the first time I ever seen that letterI am a Catholic and swear I never received a copy of that letterI challenge the school to provide proof that the letter was sent via student email, mail, or any other form of correspondence they would have providedIf I had received this letter I would have made an immediate appeal as stated was my right at the bottom of the letterWhat they refuse to state is that the appeal is time sensitive and it doesn’t relief the fact I was not able to get in contact with *** ***, my student advisor to begin such appeal.

I have been attending Brandman University since Summer 2015. I was assigned an advisor, Ms. [redacted] since my admissions. During my admission and my advisor informed me that she will be giving me the Military Tuition Rate as it was applicable and it applied to me. I lived on Joint Base [redacted] and with my active duty husband. I had no reason to believe that it was not applied to my student account or nothing to compare it to, in the event that it was not applied. I was in the dark for a little over 4 months without any response from anyone at Brandman regardless of my attempts in person and via email.  Without any success and upon graduation, I browsed their website continuously trying to find anything on graduation requirements. INSTEAD, I found that I had been paying a much higher TUITION rate, where I was OVERCHARGED $810 additional for each and every class. After taking 15 classes and being overcharged in TUITION, Brandman University overcharged me an additional $13,890. They gave me $1,620, which covers 2 classes, but they still owe me $12,270.00, for the remaining 13 classes.  Once I figured this out, I immediately went to the Lacey campus and informed the advisor there of what I have learned. [Brandman's response is absolutely false.  The professor berated me and INSISTED to know the nature of my illness. I have the emails to prove which I also proved to the University throughout the appeal process.  This professor should be FIRED for her actions.  It is unethical not to mention a violation of HIPAA.  No student should be treated this way.  Brandman University's response displays their lack of integrity as their response if not factual.  Moreover,  I stayed in the course as the timeframe to drop the course had passed. I had no other recourse but to concede and reveal my personal healthcare information.  Dropping the course was not an option if it was an option, I would have taken the necessary steps to do that. ]

The university has reviewed Ms. [redacted]'s concerns and encourages her to
speak with her advisor to discuss her options for finishing her degree. Meetings with the School of Social Work official will be facilitated by the advisor as needed.

Previous response provided by the university remains unchanged - elevated and independent due diligence review of the student's petition has been conducted and no further action is required on the university behalf.

The student's [redacted] MBA loan in the amount of $12,304 was disbursed on 02/01/18. And on 2/02/18, refund in the amount of $8,284 was processed electronically via ACH and sent to the student. If the student did not receive the amount in the account specified while signing up for ACH, her [redacted] should be contacted to research the ACH further.

This student's account was reviewed twice. The first review was conducted via the University petition process, which resulted in denial of the petition on 11/7/2017. The second, independent and elevated review was conducted by the [redacted] and response was sent to the student on 12/1/17 - this is...

not to be shared publicly, but only with the student:
[redacted]
Good afternoon, [redacted]:
Thank you again for sharing your concerns with us. Your overall concern is that you would like a refund for your Summer II courses, due to the fact that you suffered medical complications during this time. You had submitted a petition through your advisor, which was denied by Student Accounts. I researched the rationale behind the denial, and it appears it is because you continued to participate in the courses instead of asking to be withdrawn due to medical complications. They will not reverse their decision on this issue.
You also shared a concern with Professor asking you for “more details” regarding your absence. From the context of the email communications you shared and in a follow up conversation with the Professor, it has been determined that she was asking you for more details in regard to the date range of your illness, rather than details of your diagnosis. So while it is true you shared this information, that is not what she was asking for.
My understanding is that the Office of Accessible Education has reached out to you to assist you in determining future accommodations for such medical complications. Please do take advantage of any services you may qualify for.
I know this is not the outcome you were seeking, but I hope this provides some clarity.
Thank you,
[redacted]

On February 22nd, 2016, after a rigorous review, an official detailed response to the student's inquiry has been prepared by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor of Enrollment and Student Affairs. The student should have received this response by the time of this writing or should be...

expecting to receive it shortly.

Thank you for sharing the student's concern with us. This case was previously reviewed and closed by Senior Leadership, but the student has the ability to contact Brandman University Ombudsman at [email protected] for impartial detailed research and review of that decision. Please note that unless a fundamental error was made, the Ombudsman’s office is likely to arrive to the same conclusion.

Since the student did not receive the denial letter, he should be provided with an exception and allowed to file a grade petition with the Provost - the deadline is extended until April 16, 2018. The student should contact advisor [redacted] at 949-341-[redacted] or at [redacted]@brandman.edu to facilitate the grade petition. In addition, the student is encouraged to file financial petition through his advisor to address his two withdrawn classes in Summer 1 2017 based on his attendance in these 2 classes.
