The people here are very polite helpful an know there business is important to them as well as the people

[redacted] has stated that she wants a refund because her ring is, in her words, "defective."  As details for what defective means she says that the prongs are bending and that the ring turned to yellow gold.  Our response is that the ring is not defective, and that [redacted] is falsely...

claiming that the ring is defective.  I believe a more full description of the transaction and our policies is needed to make an informed judgment on our disagreement.  As a brief description of the transaction.  In October of 2014 [redacted] came in to Ganem Jewelers looking for an engagement ring.  She ended up choosing a ring that needed to be specially ordered for $2000. On 10/11/2014 [redacted] put down a 20% deposit to have the ring ordered. After being presented with [redacted] financing as an option for payment, she decided to finance the $1600 balance on her purchase. The Transaction was finalized and the ring was delivered to [redacted] on 11/21/2014. Our return policy is clearly stated on our receipts as follows: Return policy: Accepted returns must be within 30 calendar days from date of purchase.  Must be in same condition as purchased.  Special orders are non-refundable, non-exchangeable, and require a 20 % non-refundable deposit. We also include with every purchase, free of any cost, a guarantee against any manufacturing defect in the jewelry we sell.  We also include free rhodium plating of all white gold jewelry for the life of the jewelry. We do not include free repairs to any part of a jewelry item which may become damaged or worn out while in the possession of the client. Before [redacted] expressed a desire to receive a refund, the 30 calendar days from the date of purchase had expired, therefore we are under no obligation to give her a refund. Also, the ring has been worn and is therefore not in the same condition as purchased, which means, for that reason also, we are under no obligation to give her a refund.  The ring was also specially ordered at her request and as stated in our return policy special orders are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, so for that third reason we are under no obligation to give her a refund. Regardless of our return policy, were the ring to be defective we would grant her a refund.  However, the ring is not defective. The diamond is set in a quality, industry standard head, and is set well.  What [redacted] is doing to the ring to cause a prong to bend I do not know, but the bending of prongs is considered damage and is not covered by our guarantee.  Also, [redacted]’s ring is white gold.  White gold is “gold” (which is yellow), that has had other metals added to it to make it more white in color.  White gold is never perfectly white.  That is why virtually all white gold rings, hers included, are rhodium plated to make them perfectly white.  This plating, like any plating, wears off over time.  Unlike many other jewelry stores which require a special additional fee be paid for lifetime rhodium plating we include it for free.  So what [redacted] calls her ring turning "to yellow gold” is the rhodium plating wearing off which happens to all rhodium plated white gold rings. We think it is very clear that [redacted] is not entitled to a refund of any amount and decline to provide one. Let us know what your decision is regarding this dispute.  [redacted] Manager, Ganem Jewelers
