Garage Door Doctor of Raleigh Reviews (3)

I was told the total. Signed invoice with that total. Then, checked bank account and found they charged $100 more than total.A technician came out to give us an estimate I'm replacing A panel on a wooden garage door. He then called me and suggested and insulated 8 by 7 door. He said he could do the door and the opener for $1,000. The installation was scheduled and I paid $500 over the phone to[redacted]. When it came time for installation a second technician called and said anormal opener wouldn't work and we would have to go with a more expensive jack opener. The price was adjusted due to the error and A keypad opener for an additional $175. Bringing the balance to $675. The final invoice was presented $675 was on the invoice and what we agreed to pay. Upon checking the bank account I recognize they charged $775. Exactly 100 more dollars than what was agreed authorized and sign for. I tried to speak with[redacted] in the office and she acted as if she did not understand. I have the invoice if needed and will gladly send a copy for review.Desired SettlementI only want the $100 back that I was overcharged.Business Response On 10/9/15 we quoted a package to Mr [redacted] on a new 8 x 7 Door & Belt Drive Opener. Normally priced at $695 for the door and $405 for the motor, we discounted the sale $100 as a courtesy for a total of $1000 for both the door ($595) & belt drive opener ($405). At that time we took a $500 Deposit (50%) on the work to be completed. Upon installation, it was found that the customer would actually need a [redacted] style opener for his door, a belt drive would not work as there was not enough space between the door and the wall to fit the belt drive operator and rail. This was explained to the customer and he agreed to switch to the [redacted] style opener. The price of the [redacted] is $675, as was explained to Mr. [redacted], and he agreed to the additional cost, and signed the work order authorizing the change of opener. We deducted the $405 belt drive opener from the original price quote of $1000 and added in the $675 [redacted] opener price, which brought his job total to $1275. His $500 deposit was applied, and he was charged for the balance on the door and the [redacted] Opener ($775) He was made aware of the difference of price between the operators and agreed to the additional charge. There has been no billing error, and the customer has already received a $100 discount on the door.

Service performed on July 2 and July 12. Called local Raleigh office 7 times. Promised to come out each time Owner promised called , never happend Had repair done on July2, 2 springs and rollers. extreme noise, July 12 had bottom gasket put in did not fit. repairman came out rigged torn piece of rubber in corner fell out never would come back. Promised to come back. Never came back on either job. First job done by [redacted] and second by [redacted]. This was paid by check both times. $265 for first job and $90 for second. I will call out a reputable Raleigh company have it fixed correctly pay them then on to small claims court. I will give Garage Door Doctor 7 working days to comply. By not contacting and fixing then I have no other avenue to follow. [redacted]Desired SettlementRepair and or replace Springs and rollers and replace Bottom Gasket.Business Response This customer has the wrong company- I suggest looking at the Raleigh wake county Revdex.comFinal Business Response Garage door doctor met every request within reason for this customer. The customer complained of noise coming from the door so we did everything we could (springs, nylon rollers, torsion bar) short of replacing the door to eliminate the noise. We came out a second time to help close the gap between his garage door bottom and concrete. When the concrete was poured it peaked in the center of the garage door leaving open space on each side of the door. We tried as best we could to assist the customer, but this was no solution as the concrete needed to be cut down in the center to allow the door to rest evenly on the concrete. We did not install the garage door or poor the concrete originally, we simply provided the best repair we could for faulty work done during construction. I will note that the customer did call habitually with threatening remarks. The customer stated that we would come back out, and we did. At that time we informed the customer that we could do nothing else to quite the door unless we installed a newer modern door. Thanks for your time

Vendor failed to provide warranty service on newly installed hardware as specified in contract. Was supposed to be warranted for a year. I called the vendor and asked them for service on the installation I was well within the 1-year warranty on the spring that was replaced on my garage door. He told me there would be a $150.00 service call fee. I thought about that for a few days and called him back and said that this appeared to be an issue with the installation and that I would like him to come out and service the door under the warranty. He advised me again there would be a fee of $150.00 for the service. I called another vendor who came out and fixed the problem for me. He said that it appeared that the issue was with the installed spring, he made several adjustments to it, and this resolved the problem. I called Garage Door Doctor back again and advised them of the outcome, he argued with me that he could not take the competitor's word on this. I reminded him that he refused to come out without charging me a service fee so I was forced to call in another vendor. He then said that if they had come out and seen that the issue was a result of a mistake on their part he would not have charged me. I told him he never mentioned that to me during our conversation. They have dealt with me in bad faith and not honored their warranty and should reimburse me for the fee that I paid another vendor in order to resolve the problem. Desired SettlementReimbursed for $85.00 fee paid to another vendor who resolved the issue.Business Response in response to the customers complaint,he was informed that if the problem was unrelated to the work previously performed there would be a charge for services provided. However,if the problem was related the company has no problem making necessary repairs and honoring the warranty. the company was never given the opportunity to assess the door, the customer did not want us to come out due to maybe being charged.the customer went on his own to let another company make repairs to his door and then call us letting us know what the other company said, wanting us to pay for the charges he incurred. We as a service company feel it is necessary to inform our customers of any possible charges they may incur,we have warranty policy in place to protect our customers. We will not pay for another service companies bill.Consumer Response Unfortunately, the vendor is not remembering the details of our conversation, I called him three time and he stated each time that there would be a charge for the service call. I explained the situation to him, and I gave him every opportunity to deal in good faith with me. It wasn't until I called him and informed him the fact that the problem was with their initial installation that he said had he known that he have fixed it under the warranty. He should have said I will come out and take care of this for you under warranty, if when onsite they determined there was an issue that was not related to their work then we could have had a discussion. It is misleading to tell someone there will be a service charge regardless and then try and circle back and say oh well if we find an issue with our labor we will handle it under the warranty. I understand that the vendor has a business to run and that he needs to protect himself, but if you don't stand behind a warranty then word will spread. You spoke clearly, you said there would be a service charge three times, I even gave you one more opportunity to make it right by calling you after the fact to advise that you indeed we had a bad installation issue.
