Garber Chevrolet Highland Reviews (%countItem)

I took my car in on Saturday April 4th 2020 to get my oil changed and replace my left turning signal that went out on my 2015 *** Elantra 4 door. Well after finally leaving after a 3 hour wait in which my appointment was at 915 am and I didn't leave almost until 12:00 noon!, but my car was finally finished and I left to take care of my errands for the day. 15-20 minutes later leaving from the bank, to my dismay and surprise , my front engine cover panel underneath my car falls out because it was not screwed in or secured properly. So as im driving coming over the hill down
indianapolis Blvd coming from Schererville it falls down and hit the pavement of the street and gets damaged, cracked, and broken from the impact of the concrete while I was driving where I had to pull over after hearing this loud disturbing scraping noise. so, I had no choice to drive with my hazard lights on back to the dealership going very slow because I was down the street and the tow truck would take too long too arrive to get my car! and I finally arrived back at the dealership to bring to their attention what happened which they could obviously visually see for themselves!!! so they got it secured after damages have occurred to my underneath car cover panel and I attempted to speak with the GM manager on Monday to see if they would be responsible for the damages I incurred to my car and he said no because I had damage to my bumper underneath! after had them supposedly in the back to look at it which I could not witness because they had me in the lobby! so when the General manager and I spoke within his office in the doorway, that's when he shared with me they were not at fault because it was already damaged! and I replied to him what does the bumper have to do with my covering underneath falling down because their mechanic didn't screw it in and secure my panel properly after performing work on my car! I told him to return my keys and bring up my car so I could leave because I was not going to argue with him!

.I took my vehicle to the dealership on October 16, 2018 to get a oil changed and to find out why my stabilitrac service light randomly came on. The Service Advisor Benito told me it would cost $100 dollars to check out the problem and if I decided to let them do the repair that cost would go towards the repair. They checked the vehicle out and came back and said it needed a Purge Valve replaced and it would cost $216 and solve the problem. I agreed and later left the dealership. The problem started occurring again the very next day. I called the Director of Service Gary G and explained the situation to me and his only response was to ask me what I wanted to do. He passed me on to the service Advisor Benito who told me to bring the vehicle back for more tests. I explained to him that I did not stay close to the dealership and this would cost me gas and time to bring the vehicle back especially since the first diagnosis he assured me was the problem. I agreed and took the vehicle back. I waited 4 hours before he finally told me they needed to change the MAF Sensor for $360 and replace all my fuel injectors for $1600. The engine codes P0172 and P0175 he said they just found that day and I explained that was impossible because the vehicle was doing the same thing before I brought it in and after the repair they charged me for. I told him it seemed like they were guessing at the problem and he explained they might need to call *** to help. I told him I wanted to get a second opinion and left.

Garber Chevrolet Highland Response • Jan 02, 2019

Customer came in on 10/16/2018 for and oil and filter change and the service stabilitrack coming on intermittently and the engine hesitating at 97,698 miles. We diagnose the vehicle and found codes P0455, P0172 and P0175. The code P0455 is for a large evaporative leak and the codes P0175 and P0172 are for the vehicle running rich which can be caused by code P0455. We found the purge valve was stuck open and causing unburned fuel fumes to get inside the evaporative system entering the engine through the intake through the stuck open purge valve causing the vehicle to run rich. We recommended that the customer replace the evaporative purge valve, spark plugs and ignition wires. The customer approved the purge solenoid and declined the spark plugs and ignition wires. The vehicle came back on 10/19/2018 at 97,807 miles 109 miles later. We told the customer that we would reinspect at no charge to the customer to see what was wrong. We diagnosed the vehicle again and found code P0455 the large evaporative leak was no longer there because the evaporative purge solenoid was replaced but codes P0172 and P0175 did reoccur. Because the P0455 did not return we knew that we had correct one concern but because the other codes did return we knew that the customer had more than one problem with the vehicle. We further diagnose the vehicle for no charge to the customer and found that the mass air flow sensor was not reading correctly and the fuel injectors were leaking down fuel while running. We recommend to the customer that the fuel injectors, mass air flow sensor, spark plugs and ignition wires be replace and the customer declined the repair. We do not feel that we owe the customer any refund because the large evaporative was repaired and that leak can cause the other codes to appear so that repair had to be done first and see if the other codes reappeared. We did not want to oversell the customer at the time of the evaporative purge valve replacement because this could have fixed the entire concern. Unfortunately the customer has more than one concern with the vehicle. We will not be offering any reimbursement but if the customer would like us to perform the work we would be will to help out on the price. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you Gary G Service Director Christenson Chevrolet.
