I am rejecting this response because: Ashbrook Manor claims I did not provide them with enough notice upon leaving the complex and I am therefore in breach of contract and withholding my security deposit is the penaltyMy issues is that they too are in breach of contractWe needed the whole apartment to be re-insulated due to egregious air seepage from doors and windowsThe complex sent someone over "to shut us up" (words of the maintenance person himself I appreciated his honesty) knowing full well they were not going to fix anythingWhile it is my duty to pay rent on time and respect rules of the complex, it is their duty to make sure the complex is livable and safeIn addition to sending a maintenance man, I repeat to "shut us up", they let a colony of feral cats run wild on the propertyI have been attacked while walking my service dog in addition to avoiding cat droppings on the sidewalks, this is certainly a public health concernI would like to be compensated for this just as they claim they deserved compensation for a late notice of lease termination.Furthermore, we sent them a notarized letter in July, documented by the notary, stating we would leave (well within the day time frame)In addition to that we received an eviction notice in September and figured we would not need to formally sent another letterI agree that penalization is appropriate for not following contract instructionsThe punishment should also fit the crimeWe were two young adults who were planning a wedding while trying to buy a home, we did not know where we would end up living, all this while fighting clinical depression and anxietyThe complex was aware of all these factors. These were very tumultuous times for us, during which the complex threatened to take my emotional support dog causing me additional distressDespite slipping in our parking lot, despite being sent a maintenance man to "shut us up", despite feral cats everywhere, we always paid the rent on time, no one ever made any complaints against us, the apartment was left cleaner than when we found itWithholding 1290$ from well intentioned young newly weds is a excessive and unfairThey are withholding this money because I filed many complaints within their corporate office and left bad reviews on the webThere are faults and mistreatment on both parts hereI am willing to compromise rather than go to court for which we certainly have a good case Regards, [redacted] I [redacted]

This matter has been amicably resolved.

It clearly states in our lease that a resident must provide 60 day written notice of their intent to vacate or to renew the lease, failure to give proper notification could jeopardize the return of security deposit. The Truth in Renting book states tenant must provide a written notice at least one...

full month notice in advance unless the lease states otherwise. Mr. [redacted] admits that he failed to give proper notification of his move out date. Mr. [redacted] vacated the apartment on 10/31/2014 which was only 10 days after confirming his intent to vacate the premises. His email dating 10/21/2014 confirmed that he would be vacating on 10/31/2014. His apartment was not re-rented until 01/01/2015.

Withholding 1290$ from well intentioned young newly weds is a excessive and unfair. They are withholding this money because I filed many complaints within their corporate office and left bad reviews on the web. There are faults and mistreatment on both parts here. I am willing to compromise rather than go to court for which we certainly have a good case.

Review: Ashbrook Manor Associates is unreasonable and unfair. We left the apartment upon expiration of our lease on October 31st 2014 as they requested per an eviction notice sent in July and then again in September, indicating to me they knew we would be leaving. They claim we did not give 60 days notice as per the lease agreement. They did not honor their end of our lease either. We had many complaints against the land lord that were never addressed. They knew I have depression and even threatened to remove my certified therapy dog. We communicated with the office frequently letting them know we were trying to buy a home and we did not know that the deal would go through so we could not commit, the knew I was going though depression and financial issue and they are withholding 1935$ from me unjustly. I always paid the rent on time, no one ever complained against me and the apartment was left cleaner than it had been found. I have pictures and documentation showing the apartment conditions and all the complaints I made that were never addressed. They are spitefully withholding my security cause I filed complaints against them.Desired Settlement: I want my security deposit back. I understand they may want to penalize me for confirming so late I would be leaving, they however were aware we'd be leaving as they sent notices to vacate and did not hold up their end of the lease as my complaints were never addressed. I want partial if not total restitution of my security deposit.

Review: This complaint is not about the apartment, the staff or the maintenence at the apartment complex that I use to reside. This compliant is soley about the service and attitude of the staff of the management office that manages the apartment complex. The onsite staff was great.

Since my time as a resident at Southridge Woods Apartments in Monmouth Junction, NJ (2008-2015) the personnel [redacted] and [redacted] has unfortunately been terrible. I moved on 10/31/15 but I just had to mention how they made my time as a resident such a difficult one. Mostly [redacted] because she "dealt with" my apartment complex building. She is consistantly nasty and rude. Her response time if at all was always poor. She was always rude and I have never had a pleasent experience speaking or dealing with her on any level at any time. I had a tragic loss in my family in 2014 during that time I worked with Donna. I appreciate that at that time Donna showed me human compassion and she was actually pleasant to work with at that time. Unfortunately it was only at that time, prior to that incident she too was nasty and had even hung up on me in the past when I called her as[redacted] supervisor to express my concerns with working with her. Now, they have a new staff memember, well she's new to me; her name is Amamda and I just got off of the phone with her about my security. [redacted] has adopted the same attitude as [redacted]. I called with goodmorning, who I was and why I was calling, [redacted] wanted to rush me off of the phone and never address why I was actually calling. I asked her, please at least look up my specfice file, as I was calling about the return of my security deposit. Not until I asked [redacted] what her name was did her tone and temperament change.

I don't want anything from these people but I just want the management to know that Dohonna literally was a primary reason why I decided to move because dealing with her has been a nightmare.

To the ownership, your staff needs trainingDesired Settlement: I would like to be contacted by owners. Not someone who is pretending to be owners, been there before. I have asked to speak with someone over [redacted] many times and was told "there is no one over me" and was told "our management don't speak to tenants". I'd just like to express to the ownership how difficult the shorthills staff made my experience at their rental property.
