To Whom It May Concern, Here at Gardner Contracting, we take great pride in installing what we hope is the last roof our customer will ever need We pride ourselves in having an A+ Rating with the Revdex.com, with no complaints in yearsIt is unfortunate that someone has damaged this roof We inspected the damaged, and wrote [redacted] a proposal for the repairs that we believed were necessary while offering to help mitigate costs by letting her work directly with one of our installers [redacted] response to our recommendations / resolution was abrasive and abusive Based on the facts stated in this letter, we made the decision that we were no longer going to be involved with a resolution for the broken tiles On 12/20/we signed a contract with the homeowner, Mr [redacted] , at [redacted] ***, to replace his tile roofUpon completion of the project, we invoiced Mr [redacted] for the completed project on 1/28/We received an email from an individual named [redacted] in September of The email stated that she had some issues with the roof, specifically broken tiles [redacted] was not our customer for this job, however; we later found out she was Mr [redacted] ’s daughter, and that a realtor ( [redacted] ) had provided a quote to [redacted] from a roofing company she usedHer roofer, [redacted] , stated that there were seventeen broken tiles, and that code required that the rake tiles be glued We confirmed and photographed broken tiles that began where the most likely access point on the roof was, which also followed a definitive pattern up the roof The only exception on the front slope is a rake tile that is up and left of the footfall path This rake tile damage is possibly where someone would likely grab the roof while walking, especially if tiles were breaking below their feetTile roofs have a void under themIf someone were to step on this roof that was untrained on where to step on a tile roof, they would no doubt break these tiles, which is a common occurrence Upon further inspection, there is also a portion in the back of the home that has some tile displacement and breakage in an area where a tree, per our photographs, is pressed against the house This was photographed / documented during our initial inspection In our most recent inspection, it is evident that the tree that was pressed against the home has been trimmedWhen asked about an arborist or anyone trimming the tree, [redacted] stated “that has not happened” This home is being used as a rental property, which increases the likelihood of someone accessing the roof A tree near one of the damaged areas is much smaller than it was four years prior, there is evidence of foot traffic, possible attempted repairs on the roof, and a repair quote from another company [redacted] still holds firm to the fact that even though she does not live there, nor do we have a contract with her, nobody has ever accessed this roof, and the broken tiles are a warrantied repair from our company The repair quote from [redacted] , mentioned gluing of the rake tiles Absolutely nowhere in the *** installation instructions is this practice even recommended Glue was not the issue in any of the damage we were seeing; however, if there was an opportunity to alleviate the issue, we wanted to offer it, even when all of the photographic evidence definitively proves that this was not a warrantied repairAny time someone else accesses a tile roof, after an extreme weather event, or any number of external factors, the roof is no longer covered under our workmanship warrantyOnce the damage occurs, you now have exposed underlayment and weather exposure in the once solid roofing system In summary, the realtor had the roof inspected by another company whom either caused or found damage from others accessing the roof, they wrote up an inflated estimate, and then tried to hand this issue off to us We countered with a reasonable resolution, [redacted] then replied with an abusive demanding email, and we made the decision to walk away from a issue that was never ours, brought to us by someone other than who we were contracted to install the roof for All Gardner Contracting inspectors are Haag certified Inspectors and highly trained on how to identify the most reasonable explanations on how damage occursWe stand behind our inspector’s assessment in this case; footfall is indeed the cause of the breakage of the tiles Sincerely, Chuck G [redacted]

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I declined for Gardner Roofing to do the extra tile work but I never declined for them to complete what was under warrantyMy email response definitely sounded like I was angry but to say I was abusive is and defamatoryI questioned their quoteI was given a quote by another roofer for around $Eddie M*** stated in an email on 9/22/17, "We would be happy to do the tile repairs for much less than the $the other guy quoted as long as his estimate repair is accurate"Obviously accuracy can be subjectiveGardners estimate was around $for about half the workWhich is why I declined the extra work and said to only complete warranty workWhat was under warranty was first inspected last year on August 31, by Eddie M***Eddie M*** never got back to me on fixing itOn 9/25/17, Eddie M*** sent me an email which stated, "Your roof has a year warranty for workmanshipI assure you, we are not trying to shed any responsibilityI dropped the ball last year and I truly apologize for thatI was not trying to blow you off." But Eddie M*** did blow us offThis should have been taken care of a year ago which was well within the year warranty. On 9/22/17, Eddie M*** emailed me along with cc'ing Charles G***Regarding the missing tiles on the side of the house, in this email, Eddie says, "When I was there last summer, I think there were only about spare tiles +/- on the side of the houseI have no idea what happened to them since." I asked Eddie directly if the missing tiles were not on the roof when he was on it last year, he answered, "correct"But I believe that on August 31, 2016, Eddie M*** took the spare tiles and put them up on the roof himself even tho he stated they were not on the roof on the day he was thereI have proof to back this claim which should prove that Eddie M*** lied about putting tiles on the roof himselfWhen he found the tiles on the roof on 9/28/17, Eddie said he had no idea how they got up therePartly because of this and after I declined the other work, I was then told that the roof warranty was void. On 10/10/17, Eddie M*** sent me an email with it saying, "I have shared the photos with our Owner, Chuck, who is cc'd in this message as well as our production manager Mike who oversees the repairsWe can and will be able to repair the warranty item on the front rake edge as discussed." That email confirms the admission of a valid warranty claim and my claim saying they did not honor their warrantyOnly after I declined for Gardner Roofing to fix the other tiles not under warranty which I was prepared to pay a fair price for, is when Charles G*** emailed me turning down the warrantyNo one has done any work on the roof nor has anyone been paid to do any repairs. Eddie M*** has admitted to what would be described as poor workmanship on what was warrantied there for laying my claim to workmanship not being goodAnyone can view the roof and compare it to others in that neighborhood to see the workmanshipHe stated that one of the tiles "was likely an overdriven nail, if you drive it too hard and it doesn't have movement, it can fracture." "I'd say we should have done a better detail there" "That one that was loose, it was cut short, it's cut short, it's not supported below and then it creates movement." "That one looks like an overdriven nail and it wasn't supported belowThat was our fault."In regards to not knowing who I was, I have been dealing with the house on *** *** *** *** with Gardner Roofing since I have many corresponding emails between Eddie M*** and myself to confirm thisThe house on *** *** *** *** is my father, *** ***'s houseI have power of attorney to make any and all legal decisions regarding this homeIf it was ever in question on who I was, I then question why Eddie M*** met me at the house and corresponded with me and discussing with me possible personal information through phone, texts and emails? To say, "we later found out that she was Mr***'s daughter" is asinine given Gardner Roofing has known me and dealt with me on multiple occasions about this home starting in Gardner Roofing also replaced our roof as well so they knew exactly who I was. There is no point in discussing the tiles on back of roof by the trees as this was not in question or argument for warranty.Everything I have stated here and in the past can all be confirmed and/or validated through texts, emails, photographs and voice recordings. I will admit that I am fearful of sending this due to the threat I have already received from Gardner Roofings attorneys for posting an honest and truthful bad review on a different siteI feel as if they are trying to shut this and me down instead of an amicable resolutionI fear that even with this response, Gardner Roofing will still attempt to threaten or harass me moreI want Revdex.com to take note of thisNow I have to wonder about any company that has zero bad reviewsThis all could make for an interesting news storyMy husband and I are both VeteransWe served our country to uphold and protect our constitution and its amendments including the first amendment which hopefully everyone knows is freedom of speechWe also do everything we can to protect my elderly fatherTo be treated like this is appallingGardner Roofing could have chosen to do the right thingThis was a very minimal jobWhat Charles G*** perceived as an 'abrasive' email response should not have caused this much aggravationWe still have faith in people and companies to do the right thing.

Excellent work on my roofI have had four roofs replaced during my time in Colorado Springs and Gardner Roofing is, by far, the bestOf particular note was the assistance we received from *** ***He assisted us throughout the entire process, ensuring that all our questions were answered and kept us in the loop throughout the processAdditionally, the post-work clean up was outstandingTruly, you could not tell they had been here

Gardner roofing just completed putting a new roof on our old Victorian house(Aug.2015)I had heard many positive comments about both the company and the local Springs salesman, ***And happily I was not disappointed*** was tenacious and efficient in dealing with our insurance company, and believe me that was no easy task! The result was a beautiful new roof in two days, and that included removing three layers of shingles and applying sheathingAND best of all there is no visible flashing! Gardner, thanks in large part, to ***, did our roof rightIt was an utter joy to work with all these people- ***, ***-and the rest of the crew*** was friendly, consciousness, and extremely competentI never thought I would say I enjoyed having my roof done, but this turned into a pleasant experience(Could have fooled me, for sure!) I highly recommend Gardner Roofing and ***!

*** at Gardner Roofing has been nothing but the best for one of our HOA communities This particular community has some very aged roofs that are in constant need of attention due to the recent torrential amount of rain the Springs has been receiving His response time is amazing and his quality of work is superior I would highly recommend Gardner Roofing and in particular ***!

To Whom It May Concern,   Here at Gardner Contracting, we take great pride in installing what we hope is the last roof our customer will ever need.  We pride ourselves in having an A+ Rating with the Revdex.com, with no complaints in 20 years. It is unfortunate that someone has damaged this roof....

We inspected the damaged, and wrote [redacted] a proposal for the repairs that we believed were necessary while offering to help mitigate costs by letting her work directly with one of our installers.  [redacted] response to our recommendations / resolution was abrasive and abusive.  Based on the facts stated in this letter, we made the decision that we were no longer going to be involved with a resolution for the broken tiles.    On 12/20/2012 we signed a contract with the homeowner, Mr. [redacted], at [redacted], to replace his tile roof. Upon completion of the project, we invoiced Mr. [redacted] for the completed project on 1/28/2013. We received an email from an individual named [redacted] in September of 2017. The email stated that she had some issues with the roof, specifically broken tiles.  [redacted] was not our customer for this job, however; we later found out she was Mr [redacted]’s daughter, and that a realtor ([redacted]) had provided a quote to [redacted] from a roofing company she used. Her roofer, [redacted] [redacted], stated that there were seventeen broken tiles, and that code required that the rake tiles be glued.    We confirmed and photographed broken tiles that began where the most likely access point on the roof was, which also followed a definitive pattern up the roof.  The only exception on the front slope is a rake tile that is up and left of the footfall path.  This rake tile damage is possibly where someone would likely grab the roof while walking, especially if tiles were breaking below their feet. Tile roofs have a void under them. If someone were to step on this roof that was untrained on where to step on a tile roof, they would no doubt break these tiles, which is a common occurrence.   Upon further inspection, there is also a portion in the back of the home that has some tile displacement and breakage in an area where a tree, per our photographs, is pressed against the house.  This was photographed / documented during our initial inspection.  In our most recent inspection, it is evident that the tree that was pressed against the home has been trimmed. When asked about an arborist or anyone trimming the tree, [redacted] stated “that has not happened”.   This home is being used as a rental property, which increases the likelihood of someone accessing the roof.  A tree near one of the damaged areas is much smaller than it was four years prior, there is evidence of foot traffic, possible attempted repairs on the roof, and a repair quote from another company. [redacted] still holds firm to the fact that even though she does not live there, nor do we have a contract with her, nobody has ever accessed this roof, and the broken tiles are a warrantied repair from our company.    The repair quote from [redacted], mentioned gluing of the rake tiles.  Absolutely nowhere in the [redacted] installation instructions is this practice even recommended.  Glue was not the issue in any of the damage we were seeing; however, if there was an opportunity to alleviate the issue, we wanted to offer it, even when all of the photographic evidence definitively proves that this was not a warrantied repair. Any time someone else accesses a tile roof, after an extreme weather event, or any number of external factors, the roof is no longer covered under our workmanship warranty. Once the damage occurs, you now have exposed underlayment and weather exposure in the once solid roofing system.   In summary, the realtor had the roof inspected by another company whom either caused or found damage from others accessing the roof, they wrote up an inflated estimate, and then tried to hand this issue off to us.  We countered with a reasonable resolution, [redacted] then replied with an abusive demanding email, and we made the decision to walk away from a issue that was never ours, brought to us by someone other than who we were contracted to install the roof for.   All Gardner Contracting inspectors are Haag certified Inspectors and highly trained on how to identify the most reasonable explanations on how damage occurs. We stand behind our inspector’s assessment in this case; footfall is indeed the cause of the breakage of the tiles.     Sincerely, Chuck G[redacted]
