Gold assessment
I have filled a complaint on BBB and other sites and will continue to do so FOREVER
Your assessment of my gold at much less than 10 k is a total scam
I have metal detected almost 30 years and know what I have and what I sent
I’m very well known in the metal detecting community and will continue to warn others
Will also see if I can have you looked at legally as this has gone on for years as I’ve seen from others post
I will not stop and will not go away
I feel you stole at least $1000 from me and will make sure as many people possible know and are duly warned
It’s absolutely criminal what you are doing especially when people are struggling through a pandemic
Know this it will be put out for everyone to see and I will do what I can to have you investigated

I called the Dr. as he requested upon receipt of package #1 on 12/10 He was very concerned that someone at the post office might have tampered with it. I reported the weight as well as a 'pre estimate of value" exactly as he had requested. I was asked to hold the package as a 2nd package was enroute...

and they were to be combined. I called on receipt of #2 and proceeded to process the package. After processing and establishing value, the gold coins he had requested in exchange were shipped on 12/17.
He never responded to my phone call and on 12/25 he faxed our company with assertions regarding the weight and composition of his lot. We were closed for the Christmas holiday until 12/30. I faxed a full response to him, but it seems that his fax (he has no email) could not receive messages...only send. After being perturbed that I hadn't responded, I responded by mail explaining the weights again, along with the analysis of his lot. His weights were not Troy, and he had Zero basis for any kind of analysis of his scrap metal...no matter what he thinks or says. We continued our penpal relationship until his last letter on 1/13 threatened us with action, which is why I am responded to this complaint.
Please check the very small history you have with our firm and note that we have offered settlement when needed, but in general complaints filed are miniscule at best.
That is why I suggested that Dr. Tucker 'move on'. There were options to resolve this. Our phone was always working and we were only closed 12/25 and 26 as well 1/1 and 2. He never called...only faxed, and every request was answered. We offer a 10 day holding period to resolve any issues, and his first response was 15 days, and only posed questions which I answered.

We offered to return her lot...

as there was no recoverable/payable precious metal content. It is very low grade material. That option is no longer available.
I have reviewed the assay logs, which indicated a silver content of 1.4%. The bar weight was 28.94 oz. 28.94 x 1.4% = .40 ounces of pure silver.
Our [redacted] 2nd Day Air label which she used costs us $15.85 per shipment. We would have paid to have had the bar returned to her.
It’s intrinsic value is $7.60. That is without any costs of processing or refining figured in. We did not ‘steal’ anything. We are the losers in this transaction.
I am sending her a check for $7.60, and hope she will respond in kind by rescinding her complaint.

Thanks

Our office has been doing business with Garfield Refining for about 10 years now! We're a long time loyal customer and they treat us very well. We've yet to have one issue with payments or shipping to the refinery.

Review: I sent a medium sized box of scrap metal to Garfield Refining. The box included a variety of metals I work in from gold to silver, copper, nickel and some other base metals. It was all mixed together. I then received an email from [redacted] stating that everything I sent was base metal and they would not be sending me any money for my scrap. I wrote **. [redacted] an email letting him know that I knew there was silver copper and gold included I'm my scrap and he could either send me back my box of scrap our send me a check. To which he responded that he thought he had seen that and would rereveiw my scrap. Never again did he contact me until I received a check for $0.00. They stole my scrap and did not pay me anything!!!!Desired Settlement: I would like to be paid for my scrap metal!

Review: In November 2014 I mailed two packages of yellow gold dental scrap weighing 9.20 troy ounces to Garfield Refining Co. Garfields pre-assay refining weight was only 7.81. A loss of 1.39 ounces of gold at the refinery- a 15.11 percent loss. Additionally, only 5.47 troy ounces of the 7.81 troy ounces was deemed to have value- a no value loss of 40.57 percent. Very recent assays from another refiner using gold scrap from the same container had a no value metal content of only 18.09 percent. Mr. S[redacted], senior vp at Garfield has written suggesting I stop my inquiries and move on with life. Enough, he wrote. Sorry, Mr. S[redacted], but I refuse to be swindled. I will not go away. I can not be hushed.Desired Settlement: Pay me for the missing gold scrap using a 18.09 percentage no value scrap only - 1.39 troy ounces and recalculating the other 7.81 troy ounces value using the 18.09 no value metal value.
