Gar's Transmissions Reviews (1)

Review: Gars Transmissions rebuilt the transmission on my 2000 Nissan Xterra. Immediately after the repair the vehicle started leaking oil from the rear main seal. This vehicle had never leaked oil until this repair job.I took it back to Gars Transmissions and was told the leak was coming from the valve cover gaskets and oil pan gaskets, not the rear main seal. I first had the valve cover gaskets repaired at lyons automotive. Later when I could afford additional repairs I had the vehicle taken to Lyons automotive to have the oil pan gasket repaired. After the vehicle was at Lyon's for a day I was contacted by Lyons and told the leak was coming from the rear main seal. I contacted Gars Transmissions that day and was told they were busy and would not be able to look at my vehicle for six days. I did not have time to wait and the leak had gotten worse to the point of leaking one quart every three days. I asked Lyon's to repair the leak since the vehicle was all ready in their shop and partially disassembled.Lyon's Automotive repaired the leak and handed me the damaged rear main seal and a damaged pilot bearing and a photograph of the damage to the crankshaft. They explained this damage was from a faulty instal job of my transmission. I paid Lyons Automotive $1126.26 for the work and asked to me reimbursed for the work from Gars Transmissions. Gars has refused to reimburse me for the faulty work and has offered only $500. I want them to pay for the faulty work they did on my vehicle.Desired Settlement: I want Gars Transmissions to pay me for the additional repair work required due to their negligence that caused additional damage to my vehicle. I am prepared to file in court if the Revdex.com can not help.

I am rejecting this response because:

Sean's statement is incorrect. I brought the xterra back within the first few days of getting it back from Gar's transmissions because it was leaking from the first moment I got it back. Gar's looked at it and said it was not the rear main seal and there was nothing they would do. The leak continued to get worse and I had another mechanic, Lyon's automotive, look at the vehicle. I'm not sure why the radiator had to be removed when there was nothing wrong with it and there is no reason to remove the radiator on a standard transmission. Sean's offer to bring the xterra in to his shop was made after I had to take the vehicle to another mechanic to fix the problem Gar's caused, and after I had brought the xterra back to them once before. I noticed he did not mention the damaged pilot bearing found by Lyons automotive. I have the damaged pilot bearing and the damaged real main seal. I also have my phone records of when I called Gar's transmissions and when they called me. Gar's transmission has had three chances to fix this. The first was when I brought the vehicle to them for the transmission work. The second is when I brought the leaking vehicle back to them and was told the leak was not the rear main seal. The third was when I called and told them it was the rear main seal as identified by Lyon's automotive, and I was told by the person at Gar's I would have to wait a week before I could bring the vehicle in. I work between 50 and 60 hour weeks and cannot do without my vehicle for this long. Lyon's automotive had the vehicle torn down to the point of being able to identify the leak by this point. Why would I have them put it back together just to take it back to the shop that did the damage to begin with. If I had I do not think Gar's transmissions would have caught the damage they had done to the pilot bearing. This would have resulted in damage to my crankshaft, necessitating more expensive repairs. I guess I'll see Sean in Small Claims Court.
