Gary A. Roach, D.D.S., L.T.D. Reviews (2)

Review: I changed from my previous Dentist to Dr. Roach because his front staff repeatedly assured me that they participate with my insurance company which ended up not being true at all. The reason for my switch was because Dr. Roach recently did a sleep apnea device for me and I thought I would keep everything in one practice. I had a wonderful dentist before and had no reason to change and had to end up going back to them and explain the bad things that happened to me at Dr. Roaches office. I had a cap put on a tooth at Dr. Roaches office that I have had trouble with since it was done and now I have to have my old dentist fix whatever is going on and pay for the process again. I am having to wait because Dr. Roach will not release my dental exrays until he is completely paid for the crown that I am having a problem with. I am in need of those exrays to be sent to the Dentist that I went back too to follow up more on this. I actually paid $50 towards what I owe the Dr but now feel like I owe him nothing more because of the treatment I received plus the lack of. He has received a good amount of money from me for my dental device which his staff gave no help in getting insurance to pay for it and I did all the work. I never went to a dentist office that did not take care of insurance stuff for me. I am very upset that the people that work at the front desk lied to me just to get me to transfer over and when it came to the bottom line they asked me if I got it in writing which really angered me because it was in a condesending tone.

My biggest concern now is the pain I am having where the crown is and can't get it fixed until the Exrays are released. I have made them aware of this verbally and by letter and they don't care at all except to get my money then release them and I need them now because I am in pain. I am also now inconvenienced because the Doctor did my Somnodent that I paid a lot of money for and if I have a problem with that then I don't know who will take care of the warranty of the device.Desired Settlement: I want my Exrays released to the Dental office release that I provided to them and now I am asking for the remainder of my bill to be adjusted to nothing owed since I have to repay for someone else to fix it. I will never go back into this office because I am made to feel very uncomfortable now. I am just not asking for the $50 I already gave them just to get this behind me and get my Exrays Released to get my tooth redone. I need to know how the Warranty for my Somnodent will be taken care of since I don't feel comfortable going here and if I Possibly need a refund on that for another dentist to service the device for me as needed. I am being put in a bad possition with this situation.

Response:

I saw Mrs [redacted] as a dental patient this year. I am not in her insurance network(not a participating provider), although we do accept payment from them. Mrs [redacted] was not happy when she discovered from her insurance that I was not a participating provider. She told someone in my office that we told her we were in her network; everyone in our office is very aware that I do not participate with ANY dental plans and know not to tell any patient that I do. She may not understand the difference between accepting payment from a provider vs being a participating provider. To try to make her happy, I gave her a courtesy adjustment of almost $300 which seemed to be the difference between our charges and what her insurance paid. She complimented our care, but recently told someone here that all of my work has to be replaced and threatened to harm my reputation via social media if we made her pay her remaining balance. We released her xrays at her request once she had paid for them.

She still owes us $564.98 and will be turned over to a collection agency if she does not pay immediately. She has been notified of this.

Thank you

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First and foremost I am having to get the crown redone because I have had problems with it and can't get anything done yet because as of 11/19/2013 at 1:38 pm, I spoke with [redacted] at the dental office of [redacted] that I went to prior to moving to Dr. Roaches office under false information given by the front desk and they have not received the dental xrays that Dr. Roach said they had released in October which is also false. As his office manager knows I am very aware of the different insurance meanings because of my extensive work to get my somnodent device paid for through my medical which they themselves say they rarely see. I keep accurate notes of anything that anyone tells me anymore because you can't go by a persons word as this experience shows . I made sure that I questioned the front desk associates thoroughly to make sure what would be covered before I changed because it makes no since for someone to move from a dentist that is great and has the coverage I need to one that doesn't. I only moved because Dr Roach was the one that took care of my Somnodent device and I wanted to do everything in one place. I never complimented the front office for their work because I find their work to be very lax when it comes to follow through on giving correct information. I did not threaten to try to ruin Dr. Roaches image because only he himself can do that and what I said, which is my right, I would go every avenue necessary to make sure that my experience is known and it is up to him whether he wants to do the right thing or not.

I still feel I should receive a 0 balance to him since I have to have to have the work redone and put this horrible experience behind me and move forward. If not the only choice I will have is to take it too court when my work gets redone as soon as he can oversee his front office and get my dental Xrays sent out to [redacted] like he said was done in October and they still don't have them. If this goes to court it could cost him more than what is owed to him but I will follow through with what I have said with going through every avenue unless Dr. Roach does the right thing in this case and we can move on.

Response:

This patient complimented the care she received in our practice until she learned that we were not providers for her insurance, an assumption she incorrectly made. Because of this, we discounted her bill as a courtesy to reflect what she would have owed if we were providers in her insurance network. While this should have addressed that issue, she still complained about what she owed us.

Her records were forwarded on October 7th at 4:02 PM to the email address provided to us. We have verified that it is the correct address and we have sent them a second time.

If there TRUELY was a problem with any of the care she received here, I would gladly fix it.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I absolutely made NO assumptions, I know exactly what I was told several times standing at your reception desk after asking several times to make sure I knew exactly what to do in making the decision to change dentist. I then emediately went to my car and called my husband excited that I could get everything I needed done in one place and told him exactly what the girls told me at the front desk. As of 12/11/2013 at 4:20 p.m. spoke with Dee, there are NO xrays to be found sent to my old dentist but they are going to check into it further and give me a call back in regards to this. The bill I have with Dr. Roach has been sent to collections before he would resolve this issue. I TRUELY , Dr. Roach, have pain and issues with the tooth that you worked on with the cap and will have to have it redone and I don't know what else yet until I get the xrays to them and go to my next appointment. After going through what I went through with your front staff covering up what they really did tell me to just get me in there and then changing the story plus having to go through this to get someone to do the right thing, I would not want you to fix any problems because of being made to feel so uncomfortable in your office.

I still stand by what I have said and that the right thing to do is bring my balance to $0 so I can put that money towards fixing the same tooth. I want it out of any collections because I will be even more upset if anything happens with my credit report until this issue is resolved by a mutual agreement or through court after I get the tooth redone and have the bill in hand for that.

This is the only resolution I will accept and please give an answer to resolving this so I know which route I will have to take with this situation and hopefully it will be an easy part ways route without any courts involved because that will only be more stressful on me and my family.
