I received a call from Gary Stevens d.d.sstating I missed an appt for services.I stated I was not aware of an appt for serviceI was sent a bill for $for an no show for servicesI asked the receptionist why was not called or send reminderI was informed this was not policy.I am requesting a refund placed on no call listI belive this was a desperate attempt to make money virginia greene

** had scheduled a dental appointment for a 6 month check-up on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 4:30pm.She did not show up for her appointment at 4:30pm.Our desk person phoned her at [redacted] to let her know that she was missing her appointment.The desk person noted in our records that ** was very...

rude during the phone conversation. The recorded notes also indicate that ** stated that she will call when she wants to reschedule an appointment.Our response to the letter of complaint:** states that she was not aware of an appointment. Our dental records show the patient made the appointment on her last visit on Feb 16, 2017 and we have an electronic texting and email as reminders for dental appointments to follow up as well as phone calls a day or two before the appointment as standard procedure to remind patients of their appointments. If the patient has voice mail we will leave a message. If the patient does not have voice mail, or does not answer the phone or is unable to receive or respond to digital messages, we have no way of reminding the patient. We give appointment cards to all patients who are physically present in the office as ** was on the day she made her appointment. On the appointment card it states "If unable to keep this appointment, kindly give 24 hours notice. Otherwise, we reserve the right to charge for time reserved."** states that she was not informed of this policy.This is incorrect.** states that she asked why she was not called or sent a reminder. This is incorrect. Reminders are sent.** states that "this was a desperate attempt to make money."We don't make money on missed appointments. We prefer that patients reappoint. We would actually prefer to forgive the missed-appointment fee if a patient accepts an empty appointment slot or has a good excuse for missing their appointment. We put aside that time and we pay the staff to be here for the patient. Our loss when a patient misses their appointment exceeds the $25 cancellation fee. This policy is in place as an incentive to prevent missed appointments.
