I purchased a car for 5000 originally priced at 6000 and within two months the car completely broke down and no longer works.

I have only owned my 2010 Ford F150 Lariat for 4 months. After having it repaired 2 times for the same issue the motor has now failed. On January 5th 2015, I bought at 2010 F150 Lariat from Gary's Autos Sales. After I had driven the truck for about 1600 miles the motor started knocking and grinding. I called the dealer because the warranty that I bought stated that I must call the dealer I bought the truck from. The dealer told me to bring it up right away because they had issues with that truck in the past. After having the truck for a whole week they gave the truck back to me. I drove it for around 1000 miles in the city and had no issues. I decided to take it on a trip to the mountains. Around 90 miles down the interstate I lost all my oil pressure and the truck shut itself off while driving at 60 miles per hour. I coasted to the side of the road where I had to call a wrecker to come and tow me back. I was towed to a large well known Ford dealer and they stated that the motor had seized up due to no oil pressure and a massive bearing failure. It is going to require a whole new motor for around 8800 dollars. The Ford dealership stated that the vehicle looks to have been poorly maintained and if Gary's Auto Sales had had the repairs done right the first two times this may have been avoided. I feel like I bought a lemon. I can understand all of this if I had purchased the vehicle from someone random off the street, but from a dealer I feel like certain expectations need to be met. Don't just slap a Band-Aid on the problem and hope it holds until the warranty runs out. The warranty is a whole different Revdex.com complaint I will be making since the 3rd party warranty company will not return phone calls or even acknowledge the Ford dealership on this issue.Desired SettlementI want Gary's Auto Sales to buy the vehicle back from me. Its a lemon and I feel like if the vehicle was this poorly maintained then how long will it be before the transmission or other major drive-train component fails as well.Business Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted] purchased his vehicle in January. According to his complaint he already stated that he also purchased a warranty. The warranty that he purchased does say that there is a $3,000.00 maximum paid on any claims. Mr. [redacted] stated that when he called our dealership while broke down on the side of the road, that [redacted], our manager told him NOT to bring the vehicle back to us there was nothing that we could do. When in fact, Mr. [redacted] ask if he HAD to bring the vehicle back to us and [redacted] told him that he could take it to any repair facility that he chose. Since he was not in the area that would have been his best option. Mr. [redacted] has not been back in contact with our dealership about the problems with his vehicle since then. We will gladly speak with him about the issues with his vehicle if he would like to contact us. As a dealership I feel that we fulfilled our obligation by selling him a vehicle at a discounted price and selling him a warranty for mechanical breakdown. Please have him contact us to discuss this matter in person so that we can see if there is anything that we can do for him. I assure you that our customers are our top priority and we take these matters very serious. Kindly,[redacted]ManagerGary's Auto SalesConsumer Response /[redacted]/Gary's contacted me and agreed to help me fix my Ford. They managed to get the warranty company to cooperate and agree to pay a set amount of the bill. I picked up my Ford F150 this morning and it ran strong on the way home.

Garys Auto Sales sold a vehicle that was inoperable within 2 weeks of purchase. On October 22, 2014 I purchased a 1997 Buick LeSabre with approximately 170,000 miles from Gary's Auto Sales Sneads Ferry, North Carolina with a loan for Navy Federal Credit Union for the amount of $3,560. The Sales Representative who sold me the vehicle was [redacted] I signed an "as is" warranty stating that Gary's Auto Sales was not responsible for any repairs or damage after driving the vehicle off of the auto lot. I drove the car minimally for the following week with one minor issue with the engine idle and an occasional lag when starting the car. On November 3, 2014 I drove to Raleigh, North Carolina to pick up an associate from the airport. As I was exiting the freeway the engine completely shut off leaving me on the side of the road. The check engine light in addition to the oil light blinked on. I walked to the nearest gas station to buy oil. After pouring more oil into the engine it started and ran long enough to pull into an Auto Zone parking lot. I was required to go out of town that evening for work and was unable to deal with the car for the following week. I called Gary's Auto Sales and spoke with Sales Manager [redacted] to explain what had happened. Mr. [redacted] reiterated that I had signed the "as is" warranty which I explained I understood. I explained to Mr. [redacted] that I wasn't angry rather frustrated that I had been driving the vehicle for less than two weeks before it broke down. I inquired as to whether there were any options for restitution which Mr. [redacted] replied with offering a discount on whatever part was dysfunctional. I stated that despite the "as is" warranty they had sold me an inoperable car leaving me to fix its problems. I have not been in contact with Gary's Auto Sales post this discussion. In order to meet the demands of my work schedule I rented a vehicle from [redacted] Rent-a-car on November 3, 2014 for the amount of $126.78. With the rental I picked up my associate from Raleigh Airport and returned to Sneads Ferry hours later than previously planned. After returning from the work conference I rented another vehicle from [redacted] Rent-a-car Jacksonville for the amount of $132.54 on November 10, 2014. I returned to the vehicle to assess the issues and make the necessary repairs to drive it back to Sneads Ferry. I requested a mechanic to come work on the car from [redacted] in order to diagnose the issue. Upon initial diagnosis the car wouldn't start. I purchased a battery from Auto Zone Raleigh for $123.76. The total cost of repairs was $78.00 for [redacted] The work was not completed until late that evening in which I did not feel it prudent to drive the vehicle back to Sneads Ferry until the following morning. I purchased a hotel room at the Holiday Inn Raleigh for $110.50 the night of November 10, 2014. The following morning I drove the vehicle back to Sneads Ferry. The vehicle had minor issues operating and the following week, on November 22, 2014, I took the vehicle to the [redacted] and [redacted] to have a master mechanic diagnose the problem. The symptoms indicated an issue prior to the time of purchase. A crack in the engine is causing coolant to mix with oil eventually resulting in total engine failure. The master mechanic explained the repairs would cost more than the worth of the vehicle. The master mechanic further explained the only other viable option to make the vehicle operable was a total engine replacement due to the corrosion and damage.Desired SettlementGarys Auto Sales pay for the total cost of engine repairs in order to ensure the vehicle runs efficiently. If this is not an option for settlement, Garys Auto Sales will replace the 1997 Buick LeSabre with an operational vehicle priced at the amount $3,560, the price on the Bill of Sale for the 1997 Buick LeSabre.Business Response /[redacted]/This particular customer has not contacted us nor been back to discuss any options that he may have. He did sign the paperwork that he was buying the vehicle AS-IS without a warranty. It states all the reasons why there should not be any liability on our part in his statement. It is a 1997 Buick with 170,000 miles that he paid only 3500.00 for. Since he has not contacted us I have no knowledge of how many miles that the vehicle has been driven since his purchase. I have attached a copy of the paperwork that was signed by [redacted] acknowledging that he would not be getting a warranty with this vehicle. He was offered and warranty and signed declining the coverage. We have been in business for 35 plus years. We do not have any unresolved problems at this time and take great pride in our customer service as well as our reputation to stand behind our product. It is hard for me to assist or help anyone who chooses not to communicate with us. I will try to explain this to the customer if he will call me. We regret that he feels as he does about our company. Please let me know what I can do to help with this. Sincerely, [redacted]Sent from Windows MailConsumer Response /[redacted]/After the complaint was filed with Revdex.com, Gary's Auto Sales called to resolve this issued complaint with my purchased vehicle. I worked with the Manager and Owner of Gary's. They towed my vehicle and inspected it free of charge. They referred me to a mechanic and offered to pay for half of the amount charged by the mechanic to fix the vehicle. Luckily, the issues were not as severe as described by the first mechanic's diagnosis. I took the Buick LeSabre to a mechanic of my choosing and showed the report and costs of fixing the vehicle to Gary's staff. They were very helpful and professional throughout this entire experience. The owner paid for 1/4 of the bill that I was charged by my mechanic. Gary's did not have to help at all with the cost and I was very impressed that they were willing to do so.
