Gary's Olympia Auto Service Reviews (4)

In response to complaint #[redacted] received. My name is Gary R., ownerof Gary's Olympia Auto Service Inc. I apologize for the delay in answering thisPAGE 01/03complaint. I have been out of town and just seen it when I got back. She wasdealing with my assistant Ty. I haven't had a chance to talk with...

Ty as he is offwork due to a death in his immediate family. I will need to get both sides of thematter. I don't know what was discussed between Ty and Ms [redacted] prior to hervehicle coming into our shop. I know after the vehicle was towed in, the batterywas dead and with a jump it cranked over but wouldn't start. After checking itout it had a bad fuel pump relay. After replacing the relay the vehicle started andran. According to the repair order description of the problem (see attachedR0#76899) that is what we repaired. The charge was $136.22 not $200.00as faras the treatment Ms [redacted] said she received from Ty, she has my sincereapology. That is not how we treat customers at Gary's Olympia Auto Service. I willdiscuss this matter with Ty on his return and deal with it accordingly. I am sorryfor any misunderstanding between Ty and Ms [redacted]. As the. repair order statesit was towed in because the battery was dead and when it cranked it wouldn'tstart. The correct repair was replacing bad fuel pump relay. My guess is that thesmoking was possibly caused by a faulty vacuum modulator the on transmission.
Nothing we did could have caused a problem with the modulator. For the stressshe experienced while she was here I can only say I'm sorry. That's not how weoperate here and I will address that with my employees. Please call me at [redacted] if you have any further questions.Sincerely,Gary R

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Mr. R[redacted] continues to fail to take responsibility for his shoddy repairs. I did not return my vehicle to his shop not because of any account balance but rather his shop failed to fix the car and I repeatedly had to take my car in. First the front brakes then the rear, repeat. I did not trust Gary's to make appropriate repairs. Further, although the parts were under warranty,  I would have been charged for additional labor. Mr. R[redacted] requested proof of the repairs. Now that he has said proof he still continues to fail to acknowledge his shop's poor repairs. Instead he now claims he needs to see the defective parts repaired by a very reputable shop several months later.  My position is that Gary's made poor repairs that had to be fixed by another shop. With additional excuses by Mr. R[redacted] it is clear he will not take responsibility for his shop's repairs, or lack thereof no matter how much proof of new repairs are provided.
Sincerely,[redacted]

To Whom it May Concern:The two previous brake repairs to Ms. [redacted] vehicle were completely unrelated to therear brake repairs on 10/10/14. We replaced the rear calipers, pads and rotors on 10/10/14and allowed her to make payment on the work. She never made a payment in six months. She never called or made an effort to contact us. Only after I started calling her about herpast due account, did she make an attempt to contact us. She left me a message which wastotally inaudible. I couldn't make out anything she said. I called several times after that andI've yet to hear from her. On 4.7.15 she took her vehicle into [redacted] becauseher Left-Front brake stuck and got hot. Apparently the caliper failed. The rest of the brakes onthe rear of the vehicle were ok. They were only 6 months old. [redacted] chose toreplace everything on the rear. All the parts we install carry a minimum of 1 year warranty. Ifshe would have bought her vehicle back to us or even called us, we could have repaired itunder the manufacturer's warranty. I presume she didn't because she never made a paymentin the previous 6 months. You will notice there are there are (2) other repairs on R0#74953besides the brake repairs. She hasn't made any attempt to pay any of it. This is the reason Iturned her account over to a collection agency. In order for me to honor any warranty on these brake repair, I would need the defective partsto submit a claim to the supplier. I wasn't made aware of any problem or given theopportunity to correct her brake Issue.
Sincerely,
Gary R[redacted]

To Whom it May Concern:In response to the complaint #[redacted] on 8-24-05 [redacted] came intoour shop with her 1996 Ford Escort for some work. We let her charge the workand make payments. She never made a payment. On 5-14-2006 she filedbankruptcy. This just shows a pattern of how she operates....

On 9-10-2013 shebought her 06 Pontiac Grand Prix in for some work. One of the repairs werereplacement of front brake rotors. (R0#72518) at that time it was noted theparking brake didn't work and needed rear calipers to fix the problem. On 7-3-14she came in for a brake shimmy which we recommended rear brake rotors(R0#75423). On 10-10-14 she came in for rear brake rotors, pads and calipers (which repaired the parking brake R0#74953) On 11-4-14 she came in for brakepulsation R0#75098. On inspection we found the right front rotor was blue fromoverheating because the caliper was hanging up holding the brake on. Wereplaced the front calipers ,pads and rotors. Even though the rotors were past theone year warranty offered by the manufacturer and warpage caused by heat from
stuck caliper. We were able to warranty the rotors. The calipers and pads werenever replaced by us before this visit. Ms [redacted] never called or came incomplaining of a problem with her brakes. After 4-5 months of not making apayment. I starting calling her. I left numerous messages for her to call me. Shenever answered her phone or returned my calls. She finally called back on aSunday morning and left a garbled message no one could understand. (I still haveit on my answering machine.) I called her and left another message explainingthat I received her message, but I couldn't understand a word she said and toplease call me. To this date she has never called. The last message I left was if shedidn't call me I was going to turn her account over to a collection agency. This iswhen she filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. I question the repairs she claims to havedone to her brakes and if she had a problem, why didn't she bring it to ourattention? If she did have repairs to her brake by another shop, I would like to seea copy of the repairs performed. Our labor is guaranteed for 90 days and ourparts are guaranteed for one year by the manufacturer. We stand behindeverything we do. With the proper documentation from her, I would be willing toreview her claim. As of now I will still be perusing payment through a collectionagency. The balance she owes is $1323.77.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
President
