Gasper Landscapes, Inc. Reviews (7)

We at Gasper are always concerned when our clients are not
satisfied with the work we preform; happily, we can honestly say that this has
occurred very infrequently over the twenty five years the company has been in
businessWhen it does however we will do everything that is reasonable
to
resolve any outstanding issuesIt is important to note that all but one of the
concerns expressed were rectified within three days of being brought to our
attentionUnfortunately the one remaining issue has been delayed due to
weather; we currently have a work order in our system to resolve that as soon
as conditions permit
In no way does Gasper wish to minimize this client’s expressed
frustration
With regards to the statements made in this complaint:
It is Gasper’s goal to have one of its two site supervisors
or the sales designer reasonable for the project visits all of our ongoing
sites regularlyA goal we are happy to say we achieve over 99% of the time
It is disheartening to read statements such as “The sod that
was used throughout my yard was bits and pieces left over from other jobs” or
when referring to the creation of a planting bed that was being installed by
mistake claiming “This was deliberately done to save Gaspers the expense of
sod”
Gasper Landscapes is a million dollar a year company with
years of experience working with the public and it does not cut corners on its
installationsWe believe anyone who knows what the cost of sod will find this insulting
It appears that we have not clearly explained our charges to
this client and that is regrettableOur charge for the permit as stated on the
account summary that was provided is as follows: $included the amount
paid directly to the township plus postage to have the documents sent to them
In addition a fee of $was charged for the time Gasper spent creating the
required drawings and completing the application on the client’s behalfThis
totals $395.00; we are attempting to determine why the client believes they
were charged $or twice the amount indicated on the invoice.
It is important to note Gasper will continue to work with
this client to bring our business to a satisfactory conclusion for all
concerned
It is also important to note that communication is key in
business and we will continue to look for ways in which we can improve

Gasper Landscapes is a 14 million dollar a year company with

It appears that we have not clearly explained our charges to
this client and that is regrettable. Our charge for the permit as stated on the
account summary that was provided is as follows: $127.00 included the amount
paid directly to the township plus postage to have the documents sent to them.
In addition a fee of $268.00 was charged for the time Gasper spent creating the
required drawings and completing the application on the client’s behalf. This
totals $395.00; we are attempting to determine why the client believes they
were charged $790.00 or twice the amount indicated on the invoice.

Had my first trip to Gasper home and garden showplace yesterday and I was blown away by the selection. They have a great staff and everyone asked if I needed help. When I did get help a tall guy (Matt I believe) reached up and grabbed the pottery I wanted and instructed me on to frost proff my pots. He knew what he was doing and had me quickly the register with everything I needed. Great store to visit, I would highly recommend Gasper Home and garden showplace!

This summer we finally had our long awaited patio installed by Gasper Landscape. The project turned out much better than expected and we're using it more than anticipated. It was a pleasure working with John S[redacted], Christina R[redacted], and Mike L** they made the planning and installation a great experience. The installers did a great job, they were courteous and cooperative and left the work area looking clean and finished. I would highly recommend using Gasper for your project, we're sorry we waited so long to have this done.

Review: We have a contract from February 20, 2014 with Gaspers Landscape for $35,219.82 - with additions to the contract it became a bill of $40,043.59. I am currently looking into the permit bills that total $790 for a zoning permit with my town as the bill seems high. The largest part of the job was ripping out a deck and the concrete around my pool. It was replaced with coping a patio that is flat to the ground. I had numerous issues with Gaspers that were not handled in a professional manner. I was supposed to have a construction supervisor coming out and supervising the job. The only time we saw a supervisor was the first few days of the job. No one came back for the remaining weeks except the crew with a foreman that did not speak fluent English and could never assist me when issues arose. This foreman directed the crew to build a bed in the walkway near my gate rather than put sod down that was listed in the contract. My husband saw them doing this and I had to argue to have the bed removed. I had to show the diagram given to me by Gaspers to the foreman so he could see the bed was not supposed to go there. He had a totally different diagram from Gaspers that he showed me. The diagram they gave him showed a bed was to be put in the walkway. This was deliberately done to save Gaspers the expense of sod. It is deceitful and wrong. The sod that was used throughout my yard was bits and pieces left over from other jobs. It looked like a jig-saw puzzle and I took pictures of it. It also took numerous phone calls and complaints to have areas of the lawn that were torn up replaced with sod. The contract states that all these areas were to be sodded, yet I only received scraps of sod that were pieced together. In addition, the contract stated the beds were to have a 2-3" layer of ground bark mulch. The only mulch that was put down was a dusting and I had thick weeds all summer. The crew also left the job without building a bed that was in our contract around our pool equipment. When I pointed it out to the foreman on their last day he told me it would be very easy for me to do myself. In addition, I had to make numerous phone calls and wait weeks before a piece of stone was placed in a bed in order to get the grill off the walking area of the patio. When we initially complained we were told the designer had no other place to put it. We had to wait weeks for a response and we found the placement for the grill. Our next issue is the lumps they left in the joists/bullnose between the pavers (coping around the pool). They are lumpy and need to be redone. We were told they would fix this and before the end of the summer and it never was. I recently sent an email to Gaspers explaining I would like $3.500 taken off the bill which is less than 10% of the $40,043.59 contacted job due to the numerous issues . We will also need the coping around the pool repaired. I explained that we signed the contract expecting the job to be completed both timely and professionally and it was not. I also explained that it took weeks to get issues resolved and there was no construction supervisor "supervising" the job as was stated in the contract. Gaspers is refusing and stating they "extended a discount of just over $4,800 to the original cost of the project". This is untrue. We eliminated electrical work and all the planting (trees, shrubs, perennials) in order to lower the bid for work. Eliminating items was the only way to lower the cost of the work. It was also in our contract to cut into our side deck to fit a hot tub but we never purchased one. This was work they were paid for but did not have to do. The issues that arose were handled unprofessionally and deceitfully as they attempted to take short cuts throughout the job to save themselves both time and expense.Desired Settlement: $3,500 removed from bill and coping repair
