Gaston's Garage Reviews (1)

I brought my car in for an inspection and was told said inspection took place when it did not.I brought my car to Gaston's Garage in Apex to get my state inspection done. Before leaving, I told the employee to do an inspection, change out the light bulbs, do an oil change, and do a general look over the car to ensure it is road trip worthy. I left with an [redacted] and waited for the car to be done. When the car was ready for pick up I went there with an [redacted] and was charged $104. I asked the employee if I would get stickers for the inspection to put on the license place and he told me I had to go to the DMV for that. Under the assumption that my inspection took place I left the garage. I addressed the inspection beforehand and afterwards. Today I went to the license plate office in [redacted] NC and was told that Gaston's Garage never put the inspection in the system. Since my visit was a couple month ago I called them and was told by the employee that the inspection did not take place and that they just did a look over. During my visit I clearly stated I wanted the inspection done and brought it up twice. Both times the employees acted as if the inspection did took place. Therefore, I would like to file a complaint. They made me believe the $104 covered an inspection. Especially since I specifically asked after the fact where to get the sticker for the inspection I was made believe just took place. I had to pay at least $20 in [redacted] transportation, the $104 for the "service" and now a wasted trip to the DMV plus a real inspection.Desired SettlementThe resolution that I seek is to get a full refund of $104 or at least 50% of the charges plus the [redacted] charges. I would have not chosen Gaston's Garage if I would not have been told that the inspection would take place. All other services I requested where based on the inspection and the fact that I had to show up to a garage already.Business Response Mr. [redacted] was only charged for services that were performed at his request. Mr. [redacted] requested that headlight bulbs and air filter be replaced, an oil change service be performed, and to check the vehicle over prior to his upcoming trip. Mr. [redacted] signed a work order authorizing these services to be performed - a state inspection was not listed on the work order. Upon completion of the work, Mr. [redacted] signed the final invoice that listed the work performed - a state inspection was not listed on the final invoice. Our service advisor is certain that Mr. [redacted] did not request a state inspection at any time. Perhaps there was some miscommunication regarding the use of the word "inspection" by Mr. [redacted] "after" he requested the vehicle be looked over for a road trip. Perhaps Mr. [redacted] said to do the inspection (and did not say a "state" inspection) and perhaps our service advisor thought he was only referring to looking over the vehicle because he was concerned about the road trip. If a state inspection had been requested, Mr. [redacted] would have been asked to submit his vehicle registration, which he did not, and during the check-out process Mr. [redacted] would have received a copy of the inspection report and the state inspection would have been listed and charged for on the invoice, which it was not. It is unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] did not receive a state inspection that he thought he had requested. However, there were several opportunities for Mr. [redacted] to realize that his believed request for a state inspection did not get submitted: - Mr. [redacted] was not asked for his vehicle registration when the work order was created- Mr. [redacted] signed the initial work order which did not list a state inspection- Mr. [redacted] did not receive a state inspection report upon completion of the work - Mr. [redacted] signed and paid the final invoice which did not list a state inspection
