Gateway Funding did not follow through on their commitments to us, and as a result, we were not successful at purchasing our home, when it could have happened. They were untruthful in their communications throughout the process. In the end, the seller decided not to sell when we didn't meet the financing deadline, and we are heart-broken, as we were very set on obtaining this property.
We worked with [redacted], who assured us repeatedly that he would find a loan product that could work for us. We were able to come up to all of the necessary terms, and worked very hard to get everything together, including closing out retirement accounts and finding a co-signer. But it was all for nothing in the end.
We learned late in the process that [redacted] had a lot of family issues that year, which was very unfortunate. Had we known sooner that he would not be able to service our account, we could have found another lender in time. As it was, we did find another lender and were approved for a loan, but it was already too late.
Additionally, there were multiple mis-communications and dropped [redacted]. One of note was that an FHA appraisal was ordered for the property when our credit card authorization form specifically requested a conventional appraisal. [redacted] let us know that the person in his office who places these orders made a mistake. We found out that this was done and requested a new appraiser, but the new appraiser also did an FHA appraisal.
When we discovered that this was the type of proposal we had received, we asked [redacted] to have it redone at Gateway's expense and he assured us this would occur. However, several weeks later, after he repeatedly told us this was in process, he made inquiries and told us his office person had decided not to order it due to the expense, even though [redacted] claimed to have put in the request.
