In response to the complaint filed with your organization, [redacted] Apartments has for years had a no pet policyHowever, we are required under Fair Housing to allow for Companion/Service AnimalsI have spoken with the site manager [redacted] references in the complaint and we think the confusion may have been the difference between a “pet” and a companion/service animalOur manager was explaining that only approved companion/service animals are permitted and no pet deposit is required.The Application for this property is used at several other locations and does not mention pets are allowed, the only wording in regards to pets in our application is the following: *Will there be a pet as part of your household? Yes | No Note: specific pet policies and/or restrictions ray apply at this propertyFor properties designated as Elderly, refer to the Pet Policy provided by Management regarding pet evaluationIf an approved pet is allowed, an additional security deposit may be applicable.”Management has reviewed the online ads and cannot find a single ad which shows [redacted] Apartments, Paintsville, KY as being “Pet Friendly”However, management has found on [redacted] numerous other communities with the same name that are “pet friendly” [redacted] which is one of the largest listings specifically states for [redacted] in Paintsville, KY, No Pets Allowed [redacted] If [redacted] would tell us which websites she may have seen this on, we will have it changed immediatelyWe are sorry that [redacted] had a bad experience while trying to rent an apartment from us, however it is our opinion that our manager acted appropriately and gave her correct informationFurthermore, I personally called [redacted] back and left her a voice mail on July 21st, at 10:19AM Est, she has never returned my call.I have copied [redacted] on this letter and we welcome the opportunity to speak with her.Thanks, Mike S*Více President
