Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Once again Mr*** is calling me a liarHe is failing to realize how much of my property is missing to my carHis concern is he feels he is justifying this by relieving me of $he claims I still owe himWhen in fact I have over that much in missing partsYes we had made a deal on the motor for $with his employeeHe was to purchase a hood for the car with that moneyI never received that and he assumed it was okay to give that motor to his employee and place it in a vehicleI am still missing the transmission, radiator, hoses and reservoir, the motor fan and shroud, motor mounts, all of the wiring, air conditioner compressor and vents and ducting, the ac control panel, windshield, windshield wipers and pump, power steering pump, alternator, starter, water pump, pulleys and belts, my battery, heater core and box, evaporator core, rear view mirror, rear glass, front grill, body hardware, all of the interior controls and switches, a pioneer stereo, master cylinder, the remaining pieces of the center console, the inner fender wells, and my license plateAgain, the car was a daily driverHe drove it into the shopThe car is destroyedThese are just what I have noticed right off

When I originally met
with Ms*** the car was not present for me or anyone at Jaw Droppin to
examineI was told by Ms .*** and Mr*** the car was in “pretty good
shape and needed a minimum of body work” We discussed different ideas for the
car, I was
indeed told that they did not want a show car, but they were
emphatic that the car be a very clean buildThe car was Ms***’s dream car
and she wanted the job to be first class all the wayShe even was very
interested in having the car finished in “Candy” paintIf a car came in
completely ready to paint it would cost a minimum of $10,The cost of
materials alone is over $3,I was told that they had the budget to do
whatever it took
Upon delivery of the car
it was very obvious that it was in very poor conditionIt is true the floor
pans were not rusted but several areas of the car were rusted through and
required major fabrication and restorationI will include a few pictures of
the general condition of the car when we received itI am sure that you will
agree from these photos that the car was not in “pretty good shape” I explained to Ms*** that we would need to
disassemble the car and strip it to bare metal to do the proper repairsShe
and Mr*** agreed that this would be necessary to address all the issues
On October 13th and 14th we disassembled the car and
exposed all the internal and external rustMs*** and Mr*** visited the
shop on occasion to look at their project; at no times were there any
complaints as to what we had done or the work we were doingTo quote Ms***
“As the car went on we visited and everything seemed okay“ We proceeded to repair those areas that were
rusted, including fabricating body parts welding them in grinding and
resurfacing the steelRepairs and body work were completed on the dash, front
cowl, front fenders, roof, rear deck lid, rear quarter fenders, and rear cowl
On or about December 16th, Jaw Droppin Customs sent Mr*** an
updated invoice to cover the materials used to do the fabrication body work and
the hours for the laborIt also included the billing for doors as it was
determined that with the amount of rust and Bondo in the doors, they are not
worth repairing I did not ask for an
additional $3,000.00, I asked for an additional $6,to cover the labor to
date the cost of paint materials and
doors These parts were not purchased
because Mr*** and Ms*** explained she had been diagnosed with cancer
and they could no longer afford to proceed with the projectThey asked us to
just gather up the parts and they would store the car at their homeIt is
absolutely that the car was not put into primerThe truth of the matter
is there are several coats of primerAll body worked parts are put in primer as
a part of the body work process. I do
not believe she can defend the statement that a professional builder could do
the whole job for the hours we have in itJaw Droppin Customs Incis a
professional Hot Rod and custom bike builderWe have received many awards and
have many satisfied customers we have
been featured in several magazines and to suggest that anyone could refurbish a
car in a little over two hundred hours is ridiculousI am the sole owner of
Jaw Droppin, I wear many hats and as such am not always around to re-discuss
something that had been discussed previously on more than one occasion I agreed
to put the fenders and doors back on the car and load the remaining parts
inside the carI expect to be paid the balance that is currently owed $4,
I have not ignored them, Jaw Droppin did experience a week of no phone service
due to a mechanical failure
As for the seats I have
pictures of their original condition and nowThey were destroyed when they
arrived at Jaw Droppin Customs and their condition has not changed
Jaw Droppin Customs has
been in business for ten years in the city of Corpus ChristiThis is the
second complaint we have received from The Revdex.com in that time
The first complaint was shown to have no merit, as I am sure that this one also
has no merit. The customer statement has
several half-truths, is full of inconsistences and in some cases the statements
are just undeniably false
Thank you

I am rejecting this response because: my car has basically been destroyedI had my car delivered to my home Friday 2/28/on a tow truckI am missing many parts from my car*** *** told me my motor that came out of my car was given to his employee and placed in his truck being driven daily without my knowledgeOriginally I had agreed with another of ***s employees that I would sell it to him for $and made the agreement with *** to take that money from his employee and purchase a hood for my camaro, that was never done and I never received my moneyUpon getting my car home, we realized my driveshaft was gone, motor mounts are gone and alot of body work not doneThere are several rust holes in my car after he assured me the body work was completeFor $my car should be at least ready to paintMy car has actually had probably $worth of damage done to it since I drove my car and to and left my car at Jaw Droppin Customs months agoHe also tried to make me sign a release saying I was satisfied with the work performed on my carAfter arguments with him and his secretary I still refused to signI am so upset and unhappy with what they have done to destroy my dream car and waste my hard earned money
They wanted to refuse me my car for not signing his releaseI feel I have been lied to and taken advantage ofNow I have to completely start over with my car, which is worse off now than it was when I took it to his shop, and after paying $9,cash! I have received no proof of any of the work performedIt is all on his word*** claims to only put out top notch work and the work that has been done on my Camaro is shoddy at bestHe stated to *** the shell was ready to store and the rust had been fixed on the shellUpon inspection inside the trunk there was a hole the size of the half dollar all the way throughThis car is in no way ready to store as *** I am due a refund due to the incomplete workI have shown the before and after photos to others and also I have shown them the car and everyone has said there is no way he did 9,worth of workFurthermore they all agreed that the car went backwards and is in much worse shape 9,later.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  there was no response attached.
[redacted] wants us to have a meeting with him on Friday. I don't believe he is resolving this issue with all the facts.
Regards,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: again [redacted] continues to discredit me as a woman and a paying customer to make himself feel better. The deal we made was motor only, which I still have not been compensated for. When you purchase a motor it does not come with those extra items. You have to buy them seperately and add them to your motor. I still have not been given my remaining body and interior parts, radiator and fan, inner fender wells, and several other items I previously listed. [redacted] per sieves himself as a good hearted business man, yet has continuously proven he does not care about his customers. I have spoken with ex-employees of Jaw Droppin Customs, and have been told the business uses parts from one or more customers cars to fix others. This is very unprofessional. I am exhausted with [redacted]s continuous downgrading of me and wish he would just make things right and return my items. He is responding with childish accusations. [redacted] drove my car into his shop himself. His assumptions are just that, not factual deals. My car was a driver when I took it to his shop. Just because he felt is was junk does not make it junk to the owner. It is obvious that [redacted] has no interest in making this a proper fix. He is not making any effort to return my missing car parts. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the kind of person he has shown to be and the kind of business he is running.
Regards,
[redacted]

I feel this is a waste of our time as no matter what the agreements were with Ms. [redacted] she will tell any story necessary to support her position. As to her list of missing parts I talked with the mechanic who purchased the engine. He stated that he showed Ms. [redacted] the engine, transmission combination and asked her what she wanted for the entire set up that was pulled from her Camaro; she said she was not sure so our employee Robin Wettach offered her three hundred dollars for it as it was. She agreed to those terms and told Mr. [redacted] to use the money to buy her a new hood. The alternator, starter, water pump, power steering pump and fan were all a part of the motor. Once again Ms. [redacted] is trying to use any manner possible to discredit this business. The proceeds of that sale were once again used to offset our labor costs when she was unable to pay legitimate charges for her project. The belts all hoses and miscellaneous parts are routinely thrown away as they are old cracked and useless when refurbishing an automobile. The windshield and rear window are at Affordable Glass in Corpus Christi, as was previously explained to Ms. [redacted] they remove and install all of our glass and store it when it is out of the car. Did she once again forget our conversation or is it just another way of listing parts that are missing when in fact they were either given to her or told where they could be picked up. There were two boxes of parts that accompanied the car when it was returned. Neither she nor Jaw Droppin did a complete inventory at that time but it is our belief that all her parts were returned. There is nothing on her list that has any value and certainly not in cars we are refurbishing so they are of no use to us. . When she came to pick up the car she wanted the front clip reinstalled along with the doors and trunk hood. Jaw Droppin Customs agreed to do that for no additional charge and not pursue any additional monies due us if she agreed that this matter was settled. She adamantly explained she was a woman of her word. Well as you can see that was a lie so who is to believe anything she says? I will state one last time her car has not been destroyed it has been taken apart to do major restoration work. It was her choice to stop the process not ours. If you tell a chef you want the roast pulled out of the oven before it is done; how can you then complain about raw meat?  Her last statement that the car was a daily driver is an absolute falsehood. She wanted a daily driver what she brought to us was junk. It was delivered to us on a trailer. There is absolutely no way she can say “it was a daily driver”

Horrible establishment. Our vehicle has been there for 5 months for a new transmission to be put it. They keep giving excuses. They are even refusing to let us take our vehicle elsewhere. I already hired an attorney for the matter.

In response to Ms. [redacted]’s rejection of our communication of February 19, 2014, her first statement that the car has been basically destroyed is false. As noted in our first response that in order to do the necessary body repairs we would need to disassemble the car. Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] were well aware of this and did not register any complaints when we originally disassembled the Camaro. In fact she state in her complaint “As the car went on we visited and everything seemed okey.” Now that the car is no longer in the hands of a professional repair facility “it basically has been destroyed”. Mr. [redacted] can’t have it both ways she cannot say that things were proceeding well and now say the car has been destroyed. The car is not assembled but, it is certainly not destroyed.
Her next complaint she states she is missing many parts including the drive line. The driveline was delivered to her the same day as the car. It did not come with the tow truck but none the less was delivered prior to her writing her response. Did she forget that she had received it or maybe it is just an attempt to overstate her claim? As far the “many” parts she is missing, I seriously doubt there is anything to the claim, but if provided an inventory Jaw Droppin will find any missing parts that accompanied the vehicle. Her engine which she has mentioned in both her original complaint and her rebuttal was used to minimally off set Jaw Droppin Customs Invoice 84 in the amount of 15,099.42 of which $9,000.00 was paid and $1,500.00 was deducted for not ordering the new doors. That still leaves a balance of $4599.42 If Ms. [redacted] would like to fulfill her obligation for the amount she is still indebted to us, we will be happy to pay her $300.00. As previously stated her drive shaft was delivered the same day as the car. She is correct in that the motor mounts were missing. They are in my office and are no good but, if she wants them returned I will be happy to see that they are returned to her.
She then states in her answer that there are several holes in the car. There is in fact a whole in the trunk pan. She stated in her original complaint that the car was in “pretty good shape” now there are several rust wholes. Which is it, was the car in good shape with little rust or are there several rust holes in it? Once again Ms. [redacted] wants it both ways, the car needed little work and now it has several rust holes.
Ms. [redacted] was presented a “Mutual Release” form it did not suggest in anyway that either party was satisfied with the situation. It did say we mutually agreed to release each party from any further action. It now leaves us in the unenviable position of deciding if Jaw Droppin Customs should take legal action to recover the $4,599.42 balance that is due. Her statement that the car is worse now than when she brought it to the shop is obviously not true. Ms. [redacted] seems to exaggerate every point in an effort to defend her position. She also claims that there is no paperwork. We have a complete file with a bill of materials used and time sheets with a complete breakdown of times spent on each specific part of the vehicle.
She then claims our workmanship to be shoddy, again at best an exaggeration, but more of a blatant lie. Jaw Droppin Customs are professional car restorers, and motorcycle builders, we have over ten years in the business, and are the only shop in Corpus Christi to do the work we specialize in. Other companies have tried to start businesses in the area, but we are the only successful one. Our work and our success speaks for itself. Ms. [redacted] then explains that she has sought the verification that she is correct in her assumptions.  Unless she has friends that are in the custom car business their opinions are worthless. If she has had an expert look at the car, who gave her a negative opinion I would like to know who it is. If she has such an expert in her circle of friends why did she bring the car to Jaw Droppin Customs? It seems like just one more exaggeration to emphasize her opinion.
The truth of the matter is Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] wanted her dream car. They did not want to pay attention to the costs associated with a complete restoration of a vehicle in very poor condition. They heard what they wanted to hear. When Ms. [redacted] was diagnosed with cancer, they ran out of money. Her dream was put on hold and now she wants to blame everyone but her decisions for the situation.
Jaw Droppin has tried to help her in every manner possible. When she first told us about her medical situation we agreed to store the car at no expense to her until the project could be continued. We lowered our shop rate by $10.00 per hour. We partially re-assembled the car at her request and at no charge, and would have dismissed the balance legally due Jaw Droppin, if the ”Mutual Release” had been signed.
