Concerning insurance, GB Contractors has a General Liability insurance policy. I have over 45 years of experience in the construction industry which includes new home construction, remodeling and commercial construction. Our many years in business are a result of performing f quality work with honesty and integrity. GB Contractors stand behind their work. It is truly disappointing that GB Contractors has not been given the opportunity to resolve these issues with the owner. It is always our goal and commitment to have 100 percent satisfied clients with a good referral base.

GB Contractors response to the complaint filed concerning the roofing job.Concerning the job being completed in one week, GB contractors recently completed another roofing project with similar skylights. These are custom jobsite measured. At that time we were told by the skylight supplier that they...

were eight weeks out lead time due to the heavy demand since the hail storm did so much damage in the San Antonio area. GB Contractors could not have completed this present job in one week, nor did we promise we could do so. Also the metal carport was a custom size and would take two to three weeks to deliver the product to San Antonio.GB Contractors told Mrs. [redacted] the shingle roof would take approximately one week to install. On July 5, 2016 we started stripping off the old roof, haul off waste, and re-nailing large portions of the existing loose roof decking. This part of the job was completed on July 6th. The new roof material was delivered on July 8th and the installation was started the next day, July 9th. The new roof shingle installation was completed on July 18th. There were also two windows broken during the hail storm. The window repair started on July 19th, and completed on July 20th.GB Contractors carries General Liability insurance with limits of 1,000,000 each occurrence. 100,000 damage to rented premises. 5,000 Med Exp. 1,000,000 Personal and ADV injury. 2,000,000 General Aggregate. 1,000,000 Products- Comp/OP Agg. The skylight supplier called GB Contractors on July 27th notifying us our skylights were ready for pick up. On July 28th, GB Contractors picked up the skylights and installed them on the same day. The skylight frames were secured at new fastening locations due to the thicker custom skylight domes. GB Contractors also repaired the loose soffit (not Fascia) at the back right side of the home. This soffit became loose as a result of the house foundation deflection, not the hail storm. Concerning the roof drip edge, GB Contractors told Mrs. [redacted] the drip edge was not damaged by the hail storm and was in good condition. We could leave it and perform additional work to compensate the value of the drip edge. It was GB Contractors understanding this was agreed to at the home site meeting and additional work was performed. Mrs. [redacted] now wants it replaced. We agreed and will replace it for her. The roof decking has some water stains only. GB Contractors called Mrs. [redacted] insurance company for their policy on water stained decking. Their response was there is no coverage for water stained decking. It’s not my place to pry into my employees personal lives concerning what they do nor where they go on their own time.Mrs. [redacted] referred to two of my workers being young men in their 20’s. [redacted] is 40yrs old with 22 years’ experience in the construction industry, some projects costing over one million dollars. [redacted] is 30yrs old with 13 years’ experience in the construction industry, including both residential and commercial projects.GB Contractors is not certain how Mrs. [redacted] arrived at or could assume we work on a 50% profit structure. We generally work on a 10% profit in this competitive industry. Please be certain the $8,000.00 referred to in this complaint doesn’t cover my costs on this project. Over one third of the contract price still remains with Mrs. [redacted]. My workers are seasoned and experienced craftsmen that have worked for me for years without a single complaint. At the end of this roof project GB Contractors acquired the services of an independent roofing contractor with 26 years of roofing experience. They were asked to inspect the work performed and handle some additional punch items. Their statement to me was this roof was installed in a quality workman like manner. They were paid for their services.I have over forty years’ experience in the construction industry and GB Contractors would like to be paid in full for this project.Thank youGB Contractors

I am rejecting this response because:  Mr [redacted] is not being honest.  He would not be able to prove his statements of insurance coverage or why would he lie to me that he only had coverage for his men injuries.  He was basically refusing to complete the work, failed to install drip edge, gutters, fascia. Work performed was poor, I have a PDF I can submit.  GVI company provided this and Mr [redacted] has a copy detailing all the poor workmanship.  On his follow up of work that included failing to screw back the skylights, he then glued the holes missing screws on one side and put roofing screws on other side. Solar Texas told me improper screws were put on, they are roofing screws not skylight screws. Future repairs will probably need complete removal since he has prevented reuse of current frames for repairing, since he glued frames shut.  I had to call a skylight specialist and will have to pay $450 for repair of a leaking kitchen skylight, has been leaking all of August, since Mr [redacted] finished the skylights and rain came, it was discovered and I notified him. But decided to contact Revdex.com, to much to deal with this company.  The Fascia was tightened and screwed shut, but  list indicated to install 6 LF and payment was over $300 for that, it fascia came apart because of home structure, common sense tells you to not just tighten but repair it with new material!!  I am left with having to hire help to perform all of this which was never done, and no good intentions were ever present to do job right.  I repeatedly had to ask and tell Mr [redacted] of poor workmanship.  Decking was not properly repaired nor consulted with me, that needs to be repaired.  These are just some of the things I can think of at this time.  However, very importantly the refusal of his to complete the job also prevents my payment of balance.  He was demanding payment, I told him that I would have to deduct what he did not completed, he merely responded "if you want to deduct ok".  I wanted work performed professionally.  All of it, but at this point I have several unfinished repairs and agreed upon work.  Additionally, since Mr [redacted] did not finish the work, my Insurance will not provide the additional $1079 RCV.  Therefore I only have $4105 to work with, which will barely cover the costs for all these items unfinished and items improperly done and items I am not fully aware of at this point,  I'm 64 can't do further inspections myself.
Regards,
Jane [redacted]
