Review: Had their technican ** come to house on Wed., 11/13.13 because we had no heat He diagnosed that we needed a new control board on our 6 year old gas furnace and that is written on the bill.He called his supervisor ([redacted]) and [redacted] told ** to call Lennox Tech support to verify that the control board was bad,** called, was told it was a 30 minute wait.** called his supervisor back and [redacted] asked ** if he was sure the control board was bad and Ed responded yes,so [redacted] told him to not wait for Lennox Tech support.Further more they didn`t have the part and would have to order it,but would have it shipped overnight.Called the company at the end of the business day.[redacted] told us he couldn`t get through to Lennox and he may not get the part till next week. But since we have no heat we could call [redacted] since there a lennox dealer and if they could get the part have them order it and come out and install it.Well we did, they ordered the part right away got it in the next day Friday, 11/15/13 came out and installed it.After installation the furnace still had the same problem. The service tech from [redacted] stepped outside and within a minute realized the exhaust was going right into the intake, causing the problem.Redirected exhaust away from intake which took approx.,1 more minute.A simple solution that no experienced technican should have missed.Of course we had to pay for a part and install of it that we never needed.Desired Settlement: We did talk with [redacted].He did agree to dismissing their $126.20 bill, but wanted to ignore the $316.53 bill we paid to [redacted] due to [redacted] incompetence and the fact that [redacted] told us to call [redacted] who went off of [redacted] diagnoses to complete the job, using the excuse that they didn`t put in the new control panel so they are not paying for it even though he kept stating that it was [redacted] mistake. We expect reimbursement of the addition bill we incurred.

Response:

While we are sympathetic to the customer’s situation we do not feel it is our responsibility to reimburse the customer for another company’s work. ** diagnosed the board as defective because it was not sending the proper voltage to the gas valve while the inducer and all other components were firing in the proper sequence. After our unsuccessful attempts to contact Lennox, [redacted] suggested contacting [redacted] as an option to get the customer’s heat restored quicker because they are a Lennox dealer and may have the part in stock. In our further attempt to meet the customer’s needs we provided temporary heaters for their use at no charge. Technicians are human beings and as such are capable of making mistakes. In this instance, because we were not called back to do the actual repair, we have no way of proving or disproving if there was an error in diagnosis or if the exhaust issue was an additional problem. [redacted] did not state to the customer that we made a mistake. He admitted, as any reasonable person would, that it is a possibility. The unit had been installed for many years with there being no issues from the location of the exhaust. Weather conditions and other factors may or may not have contributed to the problem. If we had installed the board and discovered that it was not actually needed we would have reinstalled the customer’s original board and not charged for an unneeded part. We feel that is was [redacted]’s responsibility to confirm the diagnosis before they installed the part. We have waived all of our charges and it is our position that, because we were not given the opportunity to make the final repair and that [redacted] did not take the time to verify what was required, the culpability is on them for charging the customer for a part they claim was not necessary. We referred them to another company and provided temporary heat because we had the customer’s comfort and best interest at heart and we believe this to be more than fair.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because the company is not being untruthful and they are tring to place blame on another company for their mistake in order to not do the right thing and take respondsibility,by compensating for our $316.53 cost for a unnecessary repair that [redacted] said was indeed necessary.[redacted]`s had no definite timeline for getting the control board in,having never even gotten through to lennox in a several day period, which would have been extended into the following week at least, since this was now a Friday..with no heat.

Again it was not [redacted]s` obligation to second guess a colleague`s diagnosis which ended up being wrong,The fact that [redacted]`s couldn`t get the part for days, told us to contact [redacted] and have them get the part that [redacted]`s said was necessary and install it means they are respondsible for our unnecessary bill. This is clearly a game of passing the buck.Shame on [redacted]`s knowing thay dropped the ball not waiting for lennox tech support, and taking their employee`s word that he was SURE it was our control panel.

If you look at the companies responds, one will see the inconsistencites.First [redacted] merely suggested we contact [redacted],then near the end they referred us to the other company.[redacted] also states that he never said "We made a mistake",when in fact he was loud and upset that we expected them to correct the situation when we had him on the phone, and at least 6 times yelled."We made a mistake, haven`t you ever made a mistake!"After my wife injecting,"Yes,But then you make it right, you don`t try to get out of it by blaming another company. We had to end the call as [redacted] was loudly repeating himself, and throwing out,"Well.we didn`t make you call them." Again ,since we needed heat and their only solution was some space heaters, not getting through to Lennox, when [redacted] actually had the part shipped to them overnight, them telling us to call [redacted] and see if they could get the part and do the job,and the fact that they were the cause of us incurring a bill for a unnecessary part and installation of said part.....oh yes,we reject their response, and expect to be reimbursed.

Response:

Clearly there is a difference in perspective as to how the

conversation transpired between the customer and [redacted]. We will not engage

in 'he said, she said' bickering or stoop to making accusations of the customer

being untruthful. We have waived all of our charges but have no intention of

reimbursing the customer for another company's work. We stand behind our

initial response which is both reasonable and ethical.

I am rejecting this response because:We feel their position is neither reasonable or ethical. It`s almost comical that they are tring to come off as (above it all) so to speak. As far as dropping their charges, that cost them nothing, since we were the ones that incurred far greater, unnecessary costs due to their mistake and referral to another company, they have refused to make it right,so we will be bringing a court case against them, and we would be happy to let Revdex.com know the outcome to post on the complaint against this company.Thank You
