Review: Called to get furnace motor repaired. After talking to Sales Representative, they explained the job would take two to two and a half hours at $175 per hour labor rate. The part was under warranty. On the day of service, the appt was for 3:00pm...the rep showed up at 5:50 (over 2 hours late and not notice) and left my driveway at 6:25. This was 35 minutes of labor and I was charged for 2 hours...not to mention the $150 trip charge in addition. Based on $175 per hour rate they quoted me, I should've been charged $102.08 instead I was charged $340 for labor. I called GC and they explained I agreed to a "fixed" cost contract and they can't help me. I kept calling and they said to try back next week and then called and they said try back again we need to get to right person... I have gotten nowhere with this and need some help. I remember the initial conversation with them...they said "it will take about 2 hours at $175 rate and will be about $340 total...is that ok with you". It was not positioned as a "fixed" cost agreement.Desired Settlement: Refund in the difference of what I should've been charged and what I was charged... $340-$102 = $238.

So looking for $238 for labor that was not provided.

[redacted] contacted us on 1/**/14 reporting no heat at his home. Although he was a first time customer, calling in the middle of our busiest time, servicing our regular contract customers, we dispatched a technician to him that day. Prior to dispatching our technician, we advised [redacted] that there would be a $150.00 "diagnostic trip charge" to access his problem, which he agreed to. Our technician diagnosed that his heating unit needed a new blower motor. Unfortunately, this part was just beyond the warranty period. However, based upon our relationship with the manufacturer, we convinced the manufacturer to cover the part under warranty. In addition, the part was located out of state with a projected 3-5 day delivery date. We requested overnight delivery, to accommodate [redacted]'s insistence for not leaving him and his family without heat. We absorbed the extra cost to ensure the customer and his family wo uld not be without heat for an extended period of time in the cold of winter. Our dispatcher quoted him $340 covering 2 hrs labor to install the part which he agreed to. The labor entitled 1.5 hrs of shop time and .5 hr at the home for final installation. [redacted]' s complaint does not account for the shop time incurred. Relative to the time this job was performed, we advised [redacted] that we would be doing this job in the PM hours and did not specify an exact time. Our policy on timing is either AM or PM window because it is impossible to predict problems incurred when we go from one job to another. [redacted] did sign the final invoice billed stating the work was done satisfactorily. Subsequent to the completion of the work, [redacted] also spoke with our representative who explained again what work was done and the cost/work which he agreed to prior to the work being done and later signed for by him upon completion of the work.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The response from GC Reliable is does not represent the truth. They stated the defective part I needed was not in warranty and go on to say they called the manufacturer and convinced them to cover the part. The truth is the part was under warranty. I have the original invoice dated 4/**/10, the Manufactures 5 year warranty card, GC Reliables invoice date 1/**/14 (under the 5 years provided by Manufacturer) and I called the Manufacturer myself and they told me part was still under warranty.

GC Reliable goes on to say they charged me for "shop time". I spoke to them at least 3 times on this matter and they never mentioned this to me. Additonally their invoice does not have a "shop time" line item charge on it.

As far as timing, GC Reliable agreed to call me when they new the Service Tech was on his way so I could leave work and meet him at my house. They called and said 3PM, I left work, went home and waited 2 hours and 50 minutes for him. He completed the job and left my house by 6:25pm.

Due to fact Service Tech came and left late, I had kids to feed and put to bed, I just signed the invoice so he could leave and I could get onto my personal life.

I realized aftwards what had happened. I called GC Reliable thinking they would fix the invoice, but they said NO, it's a flat rate. I was stunned. GC Reliable quoted me based on 2 hours work and then turned this into a flat rate job. Unethical and misleading. I want the difference between the job verbally quoted and the actual time spent on the job refunded to me.

Lastly, how GC Reliable framed up their response as going out of there way during busy season is meaningless to me. They charged me for eveything they did and I did not see any "good will" from them.

?The complaint is not resloved. Buyer beware of this misleading tactic.
