Review: on 5/6 2013 I took my mercedes 500 sl convertible to gcr on electric rd. in salem va. to have four tires mounted and balanced that I had purchased from gcr thru [redacted].after getting tires installed and driving it home upon inspection in my driveway I noticed damage on right rear rim edge from insta;llation,I immediately called the mgr. and returned car .he looked at it and told me in and my driver {witness} that he was sorry and would take care of replacing it. I said "are you sure I am not going to have any problem here? he assured me absolutely not. well the next day he called me and told me he could not find a wheel for replacement so I looked on my parts locator and found replacement and gave him info.the next day I had not heatrd from him so I called and he asked me to come down over repair. when I got there he said he was not going to take care of this as he felt it was previous damage.I said there was no way as I had pics of wheels before bringing and his salesman [redacted] told me that if there had been they were required to fill out a damage report before touching car and get customer to sign which they did not. I then retrieved my old tires that were replaced to have as evidence of no scuffing or rubbing. [redacted] then said I would consult the Revdex.com and or an attorney and he asked me not to and allow him to call his district mgr. about it.meantime I picked up my car and took it home. well I did not hear from him again as they closed that store and no one made any contact with me until the bill became due. then an accounts mgr. called about bill and I explained about issue and was not paying bill and filing a complaint with Revdex.com and he said please dont do that and I will get this worked out. well 4 months have gone by no one has called I am still getting a bill. no one has replaced the 500.00 rim,and that is for a used one,and my wifes tires I spent 850.00 on lose air every week on the damaged wheel and I am out of patience.so I am filing a formal complaint and will follow with whatever if this can't be resolved.Desired Settlement: refund of 500.00 to my account so I can get replacement wheel ordered and my car fixed. my gcr acct. no. is [redacted]. and 25.00 to remount and balance and remedy leaking of air.

To Whom It May Concern,The below response is in reference to the recent complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] of [redacted] against GCR Tire Centers in [redacted] VA.The below is based on statements from GCR Store Manager [redacted].The tires/wheels in question were changed by a long term, task trained Tire Technician using a Hunter tire changer specifically made for aluminum, chrome and mag wheels. According to Mr. [redacted], Mr. [redacted] left with the car and returned later to show him the wheel and request repair/replacement. [redacted] states he that he examined the wheel, took a photo (attached) and told Mr. [redacted] he would try to help him if possible. Examination of the wheel revealed the damaged area was embedded with dirt indicating it was not fresh. Also, the damaged area was deeply gouged and short in length. Tire machine damage can occur if the machine is improperly set up but tends to produce long scrapes and surface abrasions that are shallow.All evidence indicates the damage is likely curb damage and not tire machine related. Manager [redacted] called a local wheel repair specialty company, [redacted], who examined the photograph of the damage and stated they did not believe the damage was tire machine related.Based on all available evidence it was decided to deny the damage claim.Presumably, as a result of this dispute, [redacted] has not paid several invoices on their GCR Tire Centers charge account. GCR has elected to cease collection efforts and instead write off the entire amount in question. All total, the write off is $414.00So, in summary, • The cause of the damage is not certain• The evidence (cited above) indicates cause other than a tire machine• Independent examination agrees the damage is not indicative of tire machine damage• GCR Tire Centers has chosen to write off $414.00Based on all of this I believe we have reached a fair settlement.
