Gear Head Automotive & Transmissions Reviews (5)

When we diagnosed your truck on day one, you had a P0601 (PCM -Internal control failure) and a P1740 code (error to tcc or overdrive solenoid). We let you know of these codes. The fact that you are saying your new mechanic has found these codes are no surprise to us, we told you about these codes. You said that you never had 4 wheel drive running properly on this vehicle.  The only thing we did to your transfer case was to reseal it because you did not want to pay for a new transfer case, your transfer case  was leaking.  We also told you that your 4 wheel drive was not working due to missing and cracked vacuum lines to the T-case and front differential, transmission mounts are oil soaked, valve covers are leaking , and your oil pan leaks bad. By far this vehicle is about a 2 on a scale of 1-10 as far as it being mechanically sound. You still owe a balance of $700 remaining for the transmission repair, although in all fairness even though your vehicle came in with a bad PCM code in the very beginning I will honor buying you a another PCM if the part does not exceed $520 including parts and labor. We can settle this by you paying the difference you still owe for the transmission repair.  Also keep in mind, if you don’t pay for the transmission repair in full, the warranty is voided with me. I will not warranty a transmission that is not paid for. ($700 balance you owe GearHead - $520 for PCM credit we will honor, equals a balance still owed to Gear Head in the amount of $180.00) we can settle everything if you pay this.  Keep in mind, I have purchased a new key fab ($95) Paid for Computer Flash Guy ($125), (2) BCM’s from Pluck a Part and Pick a Part ($200) and now the $520 we are allowing for a PCM totals $940.00 we are paying to fix the key fab issue, You still owe my shop a balance of $180 to settle this. Also we require that you bring back yvehicle 10 days after a transmission installation for a recheck or your warranty is voided with me altogether.

I was never notified about my broken key FAB I came in on June first and discovered it was shattered. I tried to get a copy of the bill of sale but unfortunately Ray R[redacted] denied the dealership to supply me with any evidence contradicting his PERJURY in his report stating I dropped my truck off on the 8th of June. My truck was dropped off Tuesday May 31st the day after Memorial Day. I have phone records from T-Mobil to back this up as well. I also have date and time stamped text message correspondences with Ray R[redacted], to support my report.
I in one day first junk yard Pluck A Part in Tempe found my B.C.M. Notified Ray that was on June 25th. Monday June 27th they bought it. This is day 29!!! I had text correspondence with Ray R[redacted] on June 24th at 5:19 pm.
ME: I want my truck I have no faith in you or your shop 5:19 pm June 24
ME: A vote of no confidence have someone there tonight I'm sending a wrecker to tow it out 5:21 pm June 24
ME: make that happen 5:21 pm June 24
ME: Thank you for all your help ray 5:22pm June24
RAY R[redacted]: I'll have it in my drive, keys in the ash tray, everyone is gone for the weekend, the wrecker will have to pull it out of slot and do.his thing..we have a chance(CHAIN) thatgoes from Palm tree to palm tree un.leash it to comeon the property..when he leave put back were it goes... June 24 5:28pm
ME: 25 days and  no success 5:28pm June 24
MEL: yep June 24 5:28pm
I am self employed and unlike Ray R[redacted] I do not have the luxuary of working 5 days a week weekends off. to constitute a work week. I work 7 days out of the week sometimes for 30 or more days straight depending on the project. In short I have more documentation and proof on my side that Ray could ever wiggle out of. I do thank him for his misguided and act of PERJURY on his rebuttle.

6/8/2016 this customer drove in his  truck with Transmission problems. He authorized an inspection of his transmission, and was given a price of $2100 plus tax and Fluid to fix his transmission, He agreed to do the job...

and gave $1400 deposit to start the job, $700 balance would be due upon completion.Gear Head does take responsibility in breaking the customer’s key Fab (aka KEY REMOTE). We we notified the customer that we had done so accidentally and replaced it with a new one from the dealer.  We then had problems with the key fab communicating with the vehicle.  We than contracted a Computer Flash Technician, and he also had the same communication problem.   He informed us that the BCM  or PCM were likely the problem. We searched dealerships, parts departments and our parts contacts and found 1 but it would take a few weeks to arrive.  We contacted the customer and gave an update on the part.
June 25th (Saturday) the customer called to say he located a BCM at a junkyard. He gave us the information on where to buy it, we then purchased the BCM and installed it June 27th.  That morning we installed the BCM, we also called the Computer Technician to come back to Flash the vehicle and he were waiting for his arrival when shortly later the customer showed up with a tow truck to get his vehicle towed out of our facility. He towed this truck out without paying the $700 balance owed on his transmission repair
He also wants to settle this dispute if I do further work on his vehicle, he now wants a  tune up, oil change, change Bilstein shocks, plus wants his 1400 returned for the transmission job.  So basically I find this customer not to have honest integrity. he is also fabricating the time frame - his vehicle was dropped off on 6/8 and the tow truck picked it up on June 27th, so that is 13 working days unlike the 29 days he reports

We have settled this between Gear head automotive & this customer.  Gear heads will be performing work on (2) Cam Phasers free of charge for this customer, with the understanding that due to gas contamination we will not be responsible for any other additional repairs.This...

customer has given authorization to repair the Cam Phasers and acknowledges that Gear head resolved this matter with to the best of their ability.  Any other additional work after the Cam Phaser replacement will be the responsiblilty of the customer from that point on.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
Although I had no knowledge and/or proof of gas contamination; I have agreed to the offer made by Gear head Automotive.
